  1. Mine was early!
  2. @Cuzzie Be gentle. My first upload! iPhone only alas - and I think the bass might be a bit too quiet - and some finger clank is getting picked up. I'll need to have another go later. But in the meantime... I had to edit it at 2 mins because the postman rang the doorbell! Git!
  3. Didn't ask. But as he needs his Dad to tune it at the moment I'm guessing home use.
  4. Some basses have a different string splay. I had a go on a custom 5 string once where the bridge had 20mm spacing but the nut was 44.5mm like a stingray. So the strings got closer to each other a lot sooner than that bridge spacing suggests.
  5. What will your string spacing be at the point where you mount the pickup? It will be narrower than at the bridge.
  6. The offspring of a friend wants to learn bass. Already got a bass and has got hold of a cab. No idea what the cab is other than it being 8 ohm. Needs a head. I am really out of the loop for beginner kit. What is good? Cheap and cheerful, with a Line in to connect an iPod or similar and headphone option would be good too. I saw the sub £200 TC Electronic Thrust and BH models - anyone actually used them? Anything better for the money? ta
  7. Definitely not. I have some nice headphones and even when using my Helix they sound completely different to each other. My Grado's sound great. My AKG K550 sound like derrière with the same bass settings.
  8. Nice. But.... does that mean someone actually specc'd the shite one??
  9. That's classy. More to the point, at it's widest it looks like another tuner could be fitted to fit another 1 or 2. Might need a little increase in size but the design would still be a good one.
  10. I must admit to wondering about offloading some pedals and going that way. Or realising that if I'm unhappy in a year's time after trying loads of different pedals that cost more than the stomp would have done in the first place...
  11. I had a go on one once. It was spectacular. Would never buy it because of the headstock though.
  12. The headstock shape 1 tuner being strung differently from the others (That alone is enough to give me eye cancer). That same tuner being stuck on the side like an after thought rather than redesigning the shape for the 5 string version. Dodgy string angles.
  13. Seriously - WTAF were they thinking?
  14. Thank you - I'll have a proper listen when I get back to some good speakers.
  15. I'm not aware of those. I'll have a look!
  16. I do indeed - but I'm looking for something for the little board that actually comes out with me. If we ever get to go out and play again anyway.
  17. Long scale players only.
  18. Well, now there's a party in my pants!
  19. What’s the Ampeg classic pedal like? Any idea?
  20. I hoping to not spend that much!
  21. Just in case you don't know - Best Bass Gear in the USA often do free shipping to the UK. Sometimes that means a great deal even if you get stung for VAT and import coming. Worth checking their website.
  22. I really like Dunlop steels. Not too grabby. You could also consider EB Cobalt Flats as they are a round sounding flat string, or some half-wounds / pressurewounds too.
  23. I quite fancy something Ampeg-ish. My favourite Ampeg is the SVT4 Pro, although I haven't used one for years so there is a chance of rose tinted, err, ears. Obviously Tech21 have a variety of Ampeg sounding options but what else is there? Is there anything that is SVT4 specific rather than other models? ta
  24. I might be able to do some phone video later in the week. Wife and kids are running errands for several hours on Friday so I should get a chance to crank it a bit. I'll get my proper FX board out too.
  25. I have to say - the Aguilars are fantastic. The 60s wind P pickup in particular is just lovely. Definitely my favourite P pickup.
