  1. I must admit to wondering about offloading some pedals and going that way. Or realising that if I'm unhappy in a year's time after trying loads of different pedals that cost more than the stomp would have done in the first place...
  2. I had a go on one once. It was spectacular. Would never buy it because of the headstock though.
  3. The headstock shape 1 tuner being strung differently from the others (That alone is enough to give me eye cancer). That same tuner being stuck on the side like an after thought rather than redesigning the shape for the 5 string version. Dodgy string angles.
  4. Seriously - WTAF were they thinking?
  5. Thank you - I'll have a proper listen when I get back to some good speakers.
  6. I'm not aware of those. I'll have a look!
  7. I do indeed - but I'm looking for something for the little board that actually comes out with me. If we ever get to go out and play again anyway.
  8. Long scale players only.
  9. Well, now there's a party in my pants!
  10. What’s the Ampeg classic pedal like? Any idea?
  11. I hoping to not spend that much!
  12. Just in case you don't know - Best Bass Gear in the USA often do free shipping to the UK. Sometimes that means a great deal even if you get stung for VAT and import coming. Worth checking their website.
  13. I really like Dunlop steels. Not too grabby. You could also consider EB Cobalt Flats as they are a round sounding flat string, or some half-wounds / pressurewounds too.
  14. I quite fancy something Ampeg-ish. My favourite Ampeg is the SVT4 Pro, although I haven't used one for years so there is a chance of rose tinted, err, ears. Obviously Tech21 have a variety of Ampeg sounding options but what else is there? Is there anything that is SVT4 specific rather than other models? ta
  15. I might be able to do some phone video later in the week. Wife and kids are running errands for several hours on Friday so I should get a chance to crank it a bit. I'll get my proper FX board out too.
  16. I have to say - the Aguilars are fantastic. The 60s wind P pickup in particular is just lovely. Definitely my favourite P pickup.
  17. Alas my recording kit is far away from my cab. And it's 99% plugin based. I've got 1 good mic and it's for live vocal use. As it happens me and a mate have been recording a lot but the plan is to use a proper studio for the vocals when the rest has been recorded properly. That way we can get access to loads of vocal mics we don't own / couldn't afford anyway.
  18. My attempts to keep working this afternoon and ignore the cab have not gone well.
  19. I like limits to signatures too. Some of them on here are huge and easily take up more room than a post. If it was my place I'd go further and ban images in signatures completely. They are just not necessary in a signature.
  20. I've had a quick go with my Mark Bass and with the tiny Hotone in the picture. The Hotone - 5 watts - is hilariously loud with this cab. When cranked it's too damn loud for the lounge! The Mark Bass is obviously far louder and sounds excellent. There's more of a mid push compared to my One10 cabs, to the point where on the One10 I boost the mids and for this cab I've cut them a bit. It has a great tone and I noticed it sounded very similar even when wandering around the room. Low Bs are excellent and the treble is clear but without being ice-pick high, even with the treble boosted on my EMG equipped Sandberg (Flats) I'll try my stingray and P bass (both with rounds) later on when I get a mo. I haven't tried any FX other than a compressor so far. Just need that vaccine to get sorted and I can use it in anger...
  21. It's "out for delivery" Should arrive just in time for lunch break!
  22. I have. The squared off neck is their current profile. Many years ago I had them make me a replacement fretless neck for an Energy and that had a lovely C shape. One of the best necks I've ever played. Shame I was crap at fretless! I wish they'd go back to the C shape, or at least have it as an option on the bolt-on models.
  23. Well the shipping has been updated for tomorrow now, so I'm trying to get ahead on work on the off chance I can skive half a day. I've also bought a new score for me and the kids to play. Feels right to have a family jam of something new when a new bit of kit is coming.
  24. I was just wondering. I really like my DG but other amps do the warm clean thing better. The DG is of course my favourite for drive sounds. My Mark Bass is quite warm sounding but I'm also wondering about a big iron amp like an ABM. I've been using my helix with High and Low cuts at 30Hz and 4Khz to mimic the Super Twin freq range and see what sounds I can get. As the ST is supposed to be a very accurate cab I haven't been using an IR at all - just into a studio monitor and using preamp models, a parametric EQ and a compressor. Will be interesting to compare it with the ST when it arrives this week. I don't actually own any physical amps of the models in the Helix which is why I was using the ParaEQ to get as close as possible to the EQ centres on my Mark Bass. It probably won't sound anything like it at all! But I've enjoyed doing it!
