You'll be doing the Bass 'n' Vac dance next!

I'd love a Barefaced Six10 but I'd have trouble getting it in the car with my other gear. In my 20s I had a pair of Marshall VBC412 cabs. They sounded amazing but they were about 110lb each iirc. Like all big Marshalls they had casters, but it was still a nightmare getting them in and out of the car and up steps. they are still my favourite cab of all time but I'll never be able to lift them again!

I like tinkering too. I am a big fan of EMG because they are so quiet for recording and they really transformed my Sandberg TT4 (jazz). So I have EMGs in a couple of different basses. And I put Aguilars in my Ibby EHB because the stock pickups were so muddy. If EMG's had done a set the same size as the routing holes I would have gone with EMG again. For regular guitars - I change pickups a lot. For my strat I have ready made scratchplates with different pickup sets and it connects with 2mm banana plugs so no soldering is needed. My Strat is lovely so I like to play it for just about everything so I have single coils and humbucker set ups. But - after saying all of that I seem to be playing my Precision more than anything at the moment. It has Hipshot Ultralites on it now but other than that it is stock and it sounds great.

It's only the old really heavy ones that go that cheap.
-
Nah - that's too sensible!

I have a Thumpinator and I've tried it at the beginning of the chain, the end and in the FX loop. I liked it best at the end of the chain before the amp - last place on the pedal board.

I'm slowly warming up to the idea - like you say, it's not for me. It's for the kids. They will want to have a bit of fun, and their families will want to see what they've been up to this term. My kids have moved on from there to other things but it was such a brilliant place for them to play with others. So I will do my part. I will wear a big stupid Xmas jumper and try not to play any wrong notes. With a bit of luck it will help get the numbers back to pre Covid levels - we used to get about 175 kids / young adults attend every Saturday morning and with Covid it's no better than half that at the moment. Fingers crossed it goes well enough to not put anyone off coming next term! There's 2 good drummers there. Very different styles. I'm still recovering from when Jazz-Drummer had a day off and Double-Kick-Metal-Rimshot-Drummer depped. It was interesting doing a Burt Bacharach tune with Mini Dave Lombardo on the drums. Amp light clipping / barefaced cab resistance?
fretmeister replied to Hammer_'s topic in Amps and Cabs
So put 1 cab on each channel. Job done. -
Weird high pitched signal from Keyboard ... when switched off!
fretmeister replied to LukeFRC's topic in Other Instruments
Did the PA have phantom power turned on the channel the keyboard was using? -
Do they ever do any actual journalism?

I'm far more offended by the existence of Bono.

I stick my Super Twin in a corner (not too close to the walls) so the sound can wash over everyone. It's their fault for turning up.
-
I quite like the look of those Ashdown cabs! Too heavy though. Maybe a Barefaced Three10 with a tweeter (that could be turned off) could do it properly. Tilt back wheels etc. Nice

'Spenk' ? https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=spenk No. No clearer.

A single line of vertical speakers is also more efficient for horizontal spread as there is less wave cancellation. 4x10 square won't spread the sound as wide as 4x10 vertical. I wonder if Barefaced will ever do a 'Extra Super Twin" with a 3rd cone to get it taller as well! That would be fun!

yeah, but it would still be funny.

The music trust I play with has decided not to have a Christmas concert this year due to covid and the amount of vulnerable grandparents etc. Found out that instead there will be a Facebook live stream of all the different ensembles via an iPhone. And on top of that, the big band will be doing Mariah sodding Carey’s “All I want for Christmas…” it’s a great bit of pop music but I’ve played it so many times already this year I’m getting a bit bored with it So no xmas decorated stage in a large hall… just the ensembles in primary school classrooms where we practice. it will either be a great bit of fun or a bad sounding disaster. Or a mix. I’ve also been press ganged to play with the young kids ukulele orchestra. Ukulele version of Sting’s Fields of Gold and a Taylor Swift tune. The big band is still down on numbers following covid so I have no idea how many will turn up - I suspect some won’t be happy about a live stream on a public Facebook page!

Now that the band has ended, you can send him a link to this thread. Maybe he’ll learn something.

If they did they they’d never sell any to ADAM owners. It’s like Neural’s plug in business model. Individual plugins that could have been joined together like Helix Native.

Hotone Thunder Bass. 5W Ampeg sounds. More than enough for the bedroom. I use mine with a BF Super Twin 😂

As Doug owns both companies I’m sure there’s a lot of sharing of ideas.

Weird question. Is there any way to make a headless bass to neck dive?
fretmeister replied to BELA's topic in Bass Guitars
What bass is it? Lots of different body shapes for headless instruments! That will make a difference to suggestions.
