My GP says it's an ulnar nerve issue but doesn't seem willing to offer a solution
I had that. I managed to chip a little piece of bone off of my elbow and it settled and 'fused' against my ulnar nerve. As I broke both my little fingers at the same time, I didn't notice it. It required quite an operation to put right, but I has private healthcare at the time so it got sorted. Playing a short scale bass isn't going to resolve the issue.

I've always just used hot soapy water and kitchen roll on mine. The dirt is mixed with grease, so using a wax based cleaner just moves the crud about and seals it in.

They came not far from where I used to live back in the 80's. The rumour was that there were issues around religion but, if that was the case, they're older and wiser now and have managed to put those differences behind them. They weren't my cup of tea (who'd have guessed... ) but they were entertaining and tight.

I've had a bottle of wine given to me by someone I helped, so that's my xmas. Unfortunately, I don't actually drink, but it's the thought that counts.

No it's not the same. The bridge connection wire connects the bridge to earth, whereas shielding the body cavity prevents any stray signals from being picked up by the bass electronics.
You're right about the unsuitable nature of RJ45s in a relatively harsh environment, but proper, stranded, patch leads might help.
+1 Solid stranded cables are designed to be fixed, terminated and left, they're absolutely no use in an environment where movement is concerned. Patch cables with boots are definitely the way to go if changing the connector type isn't an option.

I missed the price the first time round... £101.12 for a set of strings that glow in the dark? I think I'd rather undergo elective surgery.

The DC socket is switched when a plug is inserted into it. If the unit doesn't work on batteries and the batteries overheat, my best guess is that the DC socket is faulty and applying a short circuit across the batteries. HTH

It depends on the type of LED chosen. The formula is: Resistance = Supply Voltage - LED Voltage Drop _________________________________ LED Current So, to use some likely figures: Supply Voltage = 42V LED Voltage Drop = 2.1V LED Current = 30mA ... would need a 1330Ω resistor, which doesn't exist. So you go for the next highest value, in this case 1500Ω (or 1.5KΩ) The only other thing you need to consider is the wattage of the resistor, I won't bore you with another formula, but for the above example you're going to need a 2W resistor. HTH EDIT: Sorry about the poorly formatted formula, I can't find a way of laying it out neatly.
Wich Neutrick Female Jack did you apply on your bass? Those with the locking system or do they have a barrel jack for direct replacement of the "standard" ones?
I used the non latching one as I didn't fancy trying to carve a flat recess. It's Neutrik Part Number NYS221
Ok so I just snapped my wire while trying to replace the battery, I've repaired before but the solder for some reason doesn't like sticking to this stuff, so I removed it n bought a couple connectors, foolishly didn't measure length and they dont quite fit, I can't seem to buy any longer than the length I already bought (14.5cm). I'm a total newbie with electrics I don't touch them normally so I dont really know anything about them, I was just wondering where I can get some longer or the wire it's self? Also what are the best ones to buy as they never feel that strong? Cheers Ant
They're all pretty similar when it comes to quality. RS do some with 250mm leads if that's any help? http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/battery-holders-mounts/0489021/

This is a problem that happens with IE10. IE11 on Windows 8 is somewhat better, but I have noticed a few bugs with it. Other browsers are reputed to have no issues with the forum software.
I've wondered if it's not possible to just have one mounted on a plated without any real modification, covering the existing side hole ?
Not without enlarging the recess in the woodwork.

I got through a few barrel jacks on my SR505 when I first owned it. As the problem is with some manufacturers making plugs with tips that have been 'tweaked' to ensure a good contact, the final solution was dead simple. I replaced the barrel jack with a Neutriks one and replaced any jacks which weren't Neutriks branded, with Neutriks ones. That was about 6 years ago and it's still working perfectly.

It's an earth issue. Make sure the wires connecting the pot cases are well soldered and watch out for the wire that appears underneath the bridge - if that's broken (or even loose or dirty) then that'll cause the earthing issue you describe.
Have your axes seen battle yet this season?
Unfortunately not. I can't justify the trip on my budget at the moment, but I'll be up there next season.
You've got the right idea. A gyroscope powerball is a great training aid for building wrist/ forearm/ grip strength. I'm not an upright bass player, but I use a gyroscope almost daily to maintain and develop forearm and grip strength for rock and ice climbing. I use mine when I'm sitting around watching tv, etc. Be persistant and you'll notice a huge difference, really.
I use one for the exact same reason. It's benefit for bass playing is a welcome added bonus.

regular swapping between two basses during gig
icastle replied to steve-bbb's topic in Repairs and Technical
It really depends on the size of the stage I'm playing on. For a small stage I have a mute button on my amp that I press as I start to swap basses. If I'm due an instrument swap, I'm walking back to my amp as soon as I play the last note and I'm good to go within 5 seconds. On larger stages, that walk can take up valuable time, so I just use an AB box sat next to various weaponry. -
Just to point out, the 'follow' feature doesn't always work. It's a known issue with the current software version we're using but should be fixed in the next planned upgrade.

I'm firmly on the fence with this one as I have one of each. I think the lines were useful for a week or two but then ignored afterwards.
