Well as mentioned elsewhere in this Forum, there's a software upgrade happening shortly. I've not had a chance to check all of the fixes\features bundled in the package as yet but I do know that notifications no longer working properly was a recognised issue by the software company. So, somewhat unscientifically, fingers crossed.

I'm not a huge Fender fan or expert, I have one that I use to keep the occasional awkward punter happy. Something I do know though is that in the 80's, everyone was clamouring to get pre CBS kit. 70's kit was considered cr*p and you couldn't give it away (more to do with the CBS takeover than anything else I suspect). The 80's models were grudgingly branded as 'OK but not too sure', presumably because of the introduction of the Squier range. The availability of pre CBS kit has, as one would expect, really dried up over the last 30 years and those who desire it are willing to pay high prices for it. As soon as the pre CBS pool dried up\outpriced itself, those 70's models that everyone considered as cr*p all of a sudden became sought after and... the prices shot up. The 'suspicious' 80's models then started looking appealing... and the cycle continues. So, as a pretty much disinterested observer, it's availability and demand that drive vintage Fender prices. Do the old ones sound better? Probably not, but if you've just spent £10K+ on a battered old bass, you're gonna need a damn good cover story for the missus.
If we plug the vox microphone into it won't that need the 48v?
Depends if it's a condenser microphone or not. The problem you tend to get in low end equipment, this unit included, is that the 48v is applied to every single input. Shove 48v into a socket that isn't expecting to see it and the likelihood is that you're going to damage things.
1/4" to 1/4" will work fine
+1 You'll not go far wrong with that. It's probably worth mentioning that little toggle switch with 48V written on it. Make sure it's switched OFF and don't be tempted to play with it.
We don't have a mixer, our singer is talking about recording us using some sort of MIDI input with an output to a Mac. Until I actually see it I haven't much of an idea of what he's talking about, I'm just the bass player after all
Ah. In that case...
Electric instruments and even acoustic guitars were not considered real instruments when I was at school. Pop music was not considered music at all and none of the teachers knew what Top of the Pops was. Corduroy trousers, chalk dust and Mozart were very popular, however.
+1 Our school was totally brass band orientated.
That ties in with when, having switched to the full site on my iPhone, I no longer have the option to switch back to the mobile site...
I don't have an iPhone to try it out with so I'll flag this up in the Mods forum so the techy chaps can see it.

Yep. Provided your mixer will accept a line level input. The only real downside is that long cable runs might be a bit noisy, but that's probably not too much of an issue if you're just recording practice sessions.

LMAO Well done and commiserations in that order.
Ive done it again, told a porky I mean, im on Windows 7, as Ive just found out by going to the Microsoft site doh!
The important bit is the browser version really. Windows 7 supports IE10 but the good news is that it supports IE11 as well. If you're still on IE10 then upgrade to IE11 and there's a very good chance that you'll be sorted.
-
Righto. IE10 has always been a wee bit flaky with the board software we use (along with a lot of other sites!). We did some upgrades yesterday and my best guess is that the other boards using this same sort of software are using an older version of it. If you do the upgrade to Windows 8.1 it automatically installs IE11, which is what I'm using here and works fine. The upgrade is free from the Microsoft website and took about 30 mins when I did it. EDIT: The other alternative is to install a different browser like Chrome or Safari which adheres to internet standards a little more rigidly than IE.

Ah. Windows 8 IE10?

They're all working fine here. Are you using a PC or a mobile device?

Try dropping OBBM a PM. http://basschat.co.uk/user/12-obbm/

I don't think there is an option for that on a 'per account' basis.

Rotosound Swingbass Nickel Rounds 45 - 105 and a 135 if used on a 5 string. They're a music shop 'standard' and are easy to get hold of without having to keep a stock of spares that I can't afford to do. That repeatability is key to me as I don't want to spend time adjusting things after a string change.

Yeah mine's pretty quiet as well. I bought a Fishman for mine and it's made a real difference.

Labour costs account for about 30% of a businesses expenditure on average. Slice that down, use cheaper materials and relax QC to reduce wastage and you're about there.

How much would you pay for this? What would you fix first?

I think the first thing I'd do is get a bottle of Dettol on it. -

How many other bass players have public erections?

We're definitely done here. -
Could we please have Tapatalk enabled for basschat ?
It's perhaps something we'll take a look at if there's enough benefit in it for more than a couple of people. It'd have to take it's place on the list of priorities though. ^ Like what Ped said ^

It's not a 'sign of similar decisions'. When we bought in the new Marketplace format we left several forums floating in limbo - 'Items Wanted' was one of them. We always knew that we were going to have to do 'something' with it, but it was decided to put it on the back burner for a while and progress things like 'Basschat Mobile' which a large number of people had been asking for. If it hadn't been for the noticeably large number of people misusing the forum we wouldn't have been put in a position to have to make the decision we did. That decision was based on the tools we had to hand and not as a final concrete solution to the problem. It's sometimes easy to forget that forum software doesn't come with built in facilities for 'Marketplaces' - there is no magic 'button' that makes it all happen, it has to be developed from scratch and that takes some time. Once we've had a chance to study the situation in some detail, we'll hopefully be in a position to look at some less restrictive solutions.
