1. Comedy locations like Silicon Fen? It would have worked if we'd collected accurate address information from day one, but going back to correct it retrospectively would be an enormous task now. I can see a vague way through this, but I'll need to have a think about it and see if there's an appetite to do it.
 2.
Is there any way in the 'for sale' forums to search for stuff within a certain radius of where you are?
Unfortunately not. There is no obligatory field for location that we can use (mine just says 'in your router').
 3.
..looking at the position of your bass in your avatar I think you may have hidden talents
Not that hidden, I've an EUB gig tonight.
 4. How about seeing if a friendly luthier can make you a matching drop over shim?
 5. As a mod with 'OT' as part of his remit, I quite often pop in here for a welcome break. Never any arguments, no verbal point scoring and always informative - absolute bliss. Here's looking forward to another fabulous year together and I hope it brings each and every one of you much joy.
 6. Gentlemen, If you want to have a go at each other, either get a room or take it to PM.
 7. Musically, I've relaxed my involvement criteria as I need as much work as I can get and can't afford to be picky. I don't see that changing much over the coming year. Like last year, obtaining gainful employment whilst keeping my head mostly above water remains my number one priority.
 8.
Thank you! Happy 2014
And the same to you Paul
 9.
I'd like the puppy & kittens set..
I am so not going to go there...
 10. Extremely tacky IMO, but at about £150 per guitar they're not very expensive. I don't see them being a hugely sought after item at the moment, but I'm seeing guitars that were cr*p when new 30 years ago being sold for silly money nowadays, so who knows...
 11.
Paying you not to play ... Are you Alec John Such?
Not being up on this modern beatnick music I had to look this up. Mr Such appears to have been paid for missing notes during live performances. He's obviously a rank amateur at this sort of musicofinancial transaction as I'm missing out entire sets.
 12. A slight addition to Douglas's instruction above - if the URL you paste starts with https, delete the 's' (so it starts http) or it won't work.
 13. We have two guitarists, but one of them is a multi-instrumentalist who plays keyboards and various other stringed instruments as needed. Between us we've got well over 100 years worth of playing time so arguments, mush and egos were dispensed with many years ago.
 14.
The days when searching out extreme pornography & bullying people used to require a lot of bloody hard work.
I'd just go to Newport.
 15.
Wish someone would pay me not to play, maybe if I went busking .
16. I got two dep offers for tonight. I chose the 'lucrative' one, only to be told yesterday that their bassist can now do the gig. They're a good bunch of guys though and they're paying me £85 (a half share) for not playing tonight.
 17.
. . . . or the days before the internet
You mean the olden days where people used to do stuff rather than just talk about doing it?
 18. Ah. A James Bond question - I'm good at those... Is it... You only play twice Once when you play with a git and once when you smack him between the eyes. ?
 19. I think I banned him from BC last week...
 20.
Hi. I have a Streamer $$ and the output jack (barrel type) is constantly failing. I have had it replaced with a switchcraft, but that has now started to crackle at times. Are there any alternatives. Help appreciated
The jack sockets themselves are all pretty similar. The issues generally come about because of the variation of tip shapes on the jack plugs in use. Quite a few years ago, I decided to use nothing but Neutrik barrel sockets and Neutrik jack plugs and haven't had a socket failure since I made that move.
 21.
I love being a bass player but I don't think I take it as seriously as some of you. I like to do it well, but I wouldn't go to extremes, like slapping, or listening to Incognito, or pretending Stingrays are good.
LMAO
 22.
These sorts of classifications are really for the benefit of others aren't they? We seem to love to pigeon-hole people - hence all the working-middle-upper class or ABC1 nonsense. I guess it's all part of our tribal history, but I reckon that, in general, it does more harm than good.
Looking back, over the years I've unintentionally made it difficult for people to pigeon-hole me. I now go out of my way to help people pigeon-hole me into whichever group I want to be part of.
 23.
.. is what he's saying.
Yep, and I agree with him. People generally need an identifiable set of 'credentials' to work out who you are, what you do and where you stand in the pecking order.
 24. I'm just me, being a bassist is simply a part of that.
 25. LMAO
