710 followers as of tonight - still with no Follow Us On Twitter button!
No 'Follow Us On Twitter' button? Have you perchance mentioned that to anyone? -
Never Mind Reasonable.. How Excellent Is This!
How times have changed. We used to get threatened with a smack around the face with one of Ped's unlaundered socks. I feel we've certainly gone up
'Velvet hammer' is actually mod code for a lump hammer... ...wrapped in one of Ped's unlaundered socks. -

You considered a US tour yet Nige? -
The only complaint I have with mine is that you have to put it exactly where you want it because, by the time it's got cabs and an amp sat on top of it, you can't move it.

How to determine if youre a right or left handed player
icastle replied to bonzodog's topic in General Discussion
If you give someone who can't play a guitar... a guitar, chances are it's going to feel a bit weird to them regardless of whether they are right handed or left handed. -
FYI I was follower number 1 .
So just another 665 admissions of guilt to come then. -
I've had one for a few years now. Those hollow stages and wooden floorboards that used to make me grimace as soon as I walked into a venue and saw them hold no worries any more. It's a fabulous piece of kit.
It just seems to be such small beans that it is hardly worth the effort and/or the minor irritation. I am sure one or two people feel pleased with themselves when they slip though the net and offer somebody a sale outside of the 'for sale' section but it must represent a miniscule minority of transactions. Or maybe not - have I missed something along the way?
The introduction of paid ads in the Marketplace has had some very positive outcomes, one of which was that scammers won't want to pay for an ad and therefore don't bother. Some people disagreed with the majority decision to endorse the introduction of paid ads. As we settled into this new world and got smarter at detecting these fee evaders, the opportunity to abuse the Marketplace forums decreased dramatically. In a previous lineup, I was the Wanted Forum moderator and I'll give you two guesses where all those folk who were trying to circumvent the Marketplace ended up. It wasn't the 'small number' that some people seem to have decided it was either. Looking back through my records for that period, I was deleting 20+ posts a day, banning repeat offenders and dealing with the aftermath their presence left here, rather successfully if it went largely unnoticed. I've gone on record several times over the past few months saying that we recognise that the current system is far from ideal (FWIW the Mods don't like it either), but until we can get something more user friendly in place then we are where we are with this.
They weren't what i'd call a punk group.
Not having any expertise in this particular genre, all I can really say is that it reminded me of stuff that was being played around the punk era.
I don't know how the owners and mods feel about doing all this work and still getting criticised.
I can't speak for the rest of the team and my own opinion will just cause further upset amongst certain people. Let's just say that we do the best we can but we're not miracle workers.
Maybe because she doesn't have a mini-skirt and a big rack that some may get confused.
Actually, I thought they were all women.

I suspect I was too young to 'get' punk the first time around and am now too old to 'get it' the second time around. I'm sure they're very good at what it is they're doing, but it's really not for me. If it's any consolation, I don't get 'funk' either.
I just think it would be good to allow those people the chance give their "wanted" ads a little boost when needed.
This has been discussed and explained in several threads, but essentially we simply don't have a mechanism within the forum software to allow that degree of differentiation at present. Despite the claims by those who make out that they know what they are talking about, the lockdown of the Wanted section wasn't something that we wanted to do. Moving forward, we will find a way of managing the Wanted section with more flexibility. Until we can find and implement that solution, I'd urge forum members to lay the blame where it is actually deserved - firmly at the feet of those who decided that freeloading at the expense of the rest of you was acceptable.
Yeah. Curse this site with its entirely free membership and volunteer staff. I reckon the admins should fund the site out of their own pockets, that'd learn 'em.
Indeed. If you want to know why something is the way it is, ask a Mod. They'll be able to give you an answer based on reality as opposed to one based on ignorance of the facts.

It's certainly a lot of money for a bog standard medical and I think I'd want to know exactly what they're testing for that £500 (plus VAT of course).

500 miles, Sex on fire, Brown Eyed Girl - all those cheesy songs keep my band in regular work and we have wedding bookings well into next summer. We're currently working on a Mumford & Sons cover as well because that's what our punters have repeatedly told us they want.
-
Tam Lin is one of those songs that drifts in and out of Fairport's repertoire and, every time it reappears, it has a slightly different arrangement. If you're talking about the Liege & Lief version then it's a real awkward one as it wanders between off and on beats.
-
Nope. It's certainly nothing that we've done.
