1.
Your link has page__st__370 at the end. A link which doesn't have the decimal places has page__st__360 at the end. I wonder if this has something to do with why...?
I don't know how the page numbering works, but if you go to any page and change the '360' to '370' you get the same erroneous page count. It looks to me as though the originating URL has become 'mangled' in some way.
 2. I've picked a few other threads at random and those seem to be OK. I suspect it's a message from the other side...
 3. Oh. Hug a drummer. I've been sending our drummer a pile of annoying texts all day...
 4.
Still would be fun to do, but I can't see it being easy to get gigs.
Therein lies the catch.
 5. As a cover band, it probably wouldn't work particularly well. Busy cover bands are all about playing what an audience wants and going down a specialised route isn't going to have mass appeal.
 6. I blame Ronnie Biggs.
 7.
Effective, in what way? What are you going to measure, and how are you going to measure it? It's going to be 100% effective in stopping anyone posting replies in the Wanted forum. People have already started posting quasi - for - sale ads in other forums, there was one in General Discussion this morning. Its impossible to completely eradicate. If you want to completely stamp this out, you'll need to stop anyone replying to any postings in any of the forums. Seems to me that you're throwing the baby out with the bathwater. For the very small volume of people posting 'ads' in the Wanted section, you are taking away a whole load of useful functionality that paying contributors to the site are going to miss out on.
Well, you're entitled to your opinions, but we are where we are.
 8.
But if people are forced to reply via PM, then at least their 'ad' won't be seen by everyone else, thus reducing its effectiveness.
That's the general idea. This change is for a trial period to see if it's effective, if it is then it'll remain, if it's not then other alternatives will be considered.
 9. Bump - 1961 Jazz Bass for sale - Reopened
 10.
Music has no age!
A bit like socks then really...
 11.
Yeah, I'd heard about that. His plan was to dance across it using his twinkletoes, to pluck the strings. A kind of bass dancing ballet if you will.
12.
I just tried to post a lookie-like pic from my FB but it seems my mobile technology was having none of it.
Has it perhaps interfaced with the glass of something strong?
 13. Haha - Dood's here, now you're all in trouble...
 14.
But music is changing and evolving all the time, are you just thinking of the old genres and not taking account of new avenues for bassists?
I'm not sure it is. Latest thing is blokes in dodgy hats (excepting yourself of course) playing acoustic guitars - haven't seen that since the last time. Disco trancey music doesn't really feature musicians and thrash grunge metal isn't hugely different from the heavy metal of yesteryear except it's louder and perhaps a little less tuneful. I think every generation thinks it's inventing something new, but I've reached the age now when it's just the same stuff with a 'NEW!' label stuck to it.
 15. I was going to tell you all to stop it, but chickened out at the last moment. I'm only semi-breve and tend to quaver in my boots.
 16.
Who will be elevated to the status of people like Jaco, Entwistle, Geddy, Mark King, Stanley Clark, Chris Squire, Robbie Shakespeare? People who aren't bassists actually talking about them with glowing eyes and hearts.
I don't think there will be any new ones. These guys ^ were purported to have broken new ground when they were younger. All I generally see these days are people breaking the same new ground that the guys above did. There's a finite amount of sensible new ground, and I think we're more or less at that point.
 17. ...and Dood as soon as he's had his 142 string bass delivered.
 18.
I think how you play with acoustic players is more important than the instrument you're using.
Absolutely. Most of my work for many years has been (and still is) playing with acoustic players. The instruments stay the same, the amplification stays the same - the changes needed are all around empathy and texture.
 19. I have an old HA3000 that I use as a backup amp. I chose to use the line out socket on mine because I was already using the Send & Return sockets. Works just fine.
 20.
Is it ok to wire these things onto plugs and stick them in the 4-way gangers that I have attached to the walls, rather than wiring them into the mains with switches? The mains goes through some sensible fuses already, and the gangers are surge protected.
They're only 60 or 120W - absolutely no problem putting a plug onto these. I think you want to place the heater as low as possible and allow the principle of hot air rising help dry the room out. I reckon your best long term solution is going to be building a false floor on top of the existing concrete one and ensuring you have a couple of airbricks venting the void beneath it.
 21. I don't play bad gigs. I do sometimes have bad audiences though.
 22. Right that's enough now please. At last count there were something like 40 pages of posts slagging this guy off and there were less than that when Margaret Thatcher died. I am not going to waste my time, and the time of the Forum Mods, by having to trawl through page after page of disparaging and defamatory comments. If you don't like his work then have the guts to contact him and have the conversation with him directly.
 23.

Did you mean to use that smiley twice or did your finger slip?
 24. Cheers Hamster. There you go guys, start linking.
 25.
Man, there is something wrong with this software if one finger failure causes a thread removal. I figure given that most software gives you the fail safe, "are you sure?" prompt, I can only assume whoever had their 'finger failure' was having a fit at the time. Either that, or one of the mod team has amnesia.
I've documented all of the available facts in an open and honest manner. If you want to make assumptions based on your extensive knowledge of the Basschat admin systems then that's really your lookout.
