Probably shouldn't let this thread pass without a reference to the first incarnation of the band, with Jim McCarty and Keith Relf of the Yardbirds on drums and guitar/vocals, together with Relf's sister, Jane, providing additional vocals. Louis Cennamo played bass.
Off their debut album 'Renaissance'. I was only 5 when it came out but it's part of my collection.

Is there anything you can't play after a certain age?
How literally? This could end very badly with a song like Longview...
Don't even think about 'My Dingaling' -
I believe there's a few things stacked up ready to add as soon as its up and running. Sounds like it's gonna see some action.
-
Yep it's known about. A sexy replacement for it has already been chosen and I believe it'll be rolled out shortly.
-
Um....right. Don't think I'll be applying to join these...

I've always found it quite astounding what happens if you stir few chromosomes around in a mucky bucket... -
Sounds like you're doing just fine. Instead of trying to pull the ferrule out directly, find a sacrificial bolt that fits it and pull on that instead - that way you'll have no chance of squashing the ferrule.
-
Aren't they the ones that melt if you play them too close to stage lights?
I'm slightly suspicious of that grey box on the volume pot, I'm guessing it might be a resistor to bring the levels down so it doesn't distort the preamp?
Nope, that's a capacitor so I'm guessing that's the tone pot, not the volume pot.

How'd you get on?
Hairy, pastie 70s chicks never really did it for me.
I believe Greggs have now removed them from their product range.
So if I just unscrew the speaker and check if anything is resting. I can't cause any more damage that way can I? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to repairs
Nope. Before you do that though... Lay the cab on its back and look carefully at the cone. Any tears or holes in it? If so, then repair with Copydex and little layers of tissue paper on both sides of the tear. If you could only find bright pink tissue paper, feel free to use a black marker pen on it once it's all set. Check around the rim of the speaker where the cone joins the speaker frame. Any tears or holes in it? Same as above, but obviously you can only patch it on the outside edge. Carefully, place a saucer face down in the middle of the cone. Gently push it down so that the cone moves backwards. Does it move freely or is there a grating sound and\or feeling? If so, the voice coil is very probably shot and it's time to be considering a recone or a replacement driver. If those are all OK then undo the screws. You might have to prise the speaker out of the cabinet (they sometimes get a little bit stuck). On the back of the speaker you will see the connector that the speaker cables run to. On the reverse of that connector you'll see two little copper wires running back to the cone part of the speaker. Are they touching the cone anywhere other than the very tips of the wires? If so, gently reposition them so they aren't. If all of those fail, put the driver back in the cab upside down (so - the weight of the magnet in the opposite direction 'might' pull it back into alignment if that's what the problem is. At this point you've nothing to lose and you'll not make things any worse by trying. HTH EDIT: I should also have mentioned the dome shaped dustcap in the centre of the speaker. If that's not airtight you need to make it so. Also, don't be tempted to use Evostick or Superglue - they dry to hard and won't be flexible enough - good old fashioned Copydex works a treat.

I liked some of their stuff but it got so confusing because the lineup changed every few months (or so it seemed).

Nothing. I'm a real picky b*st*rd so I always do my own.

There are no frequency problems with 4G - it hasn't taken up any extra significant radio spectrum. In the UK, mobile phones have worked on either 900MHz or 1800MHz frequencies for decades. Power output of both the cellsite and mobile phone is variable, but has a fixed upper limit that's not changed. If you have items that are so badly designed that they drift into those frequency ranges then it should go in the bin because the mobile networks wont be 'tweaking' the frequencies they've paid good money for.

Played at the relaunched Burntwood Folk Festival yesterday. Fab audience, great stage setup and lovely musicians. Only thing missing was the previously obligatory 6" of mud.
-
I like going for the most obvious things first. You are going to get a comparative volume drop when in passive mode if the tone controls are further back than the midway point.
-
Easier still, put some araldite into the ferule hole, slide the ferrule back into place whilst attached to the pickup - that'll make sure it goes in square and ends up in exactly the right position. Leave to set overnight, jobs done.
-
A pot clean and a defluff is about all you can sensibly service on a solid state amp. Anything more than that is a waste of time, effort and money if the things working as it should do.
It seems strange to me that we cant all just enjoy what we enjoy and be happy at that. I love Jaco but honestly have no interest in convincing anyone who doesn't otherwise! I am me, you are you...we are all different.
+1 I can't argue with that.
