1.
I might of made the 2 millionth post OK I probably didn't but can I have a prize anyway
Yep - we've given you a brand new low maintenance PM folder...
 2.
But make sure the venues PA is happy with the bass going through it too.
+1 It perhaps varies up and down the country, but I go to a lot of these round here in the East Mids. There is no backline provided for bass and the PA system is really only designed for light vocal use and often without monitors. Phone before turning up or you might find yourself scuppered.
 3.
This forum isn't exactly fast-growing though is it? If we had two they would be very slow.
That's it in a nutshell really. This particular forum is one of the quietest on Basschat (and also the most polite and friendly one as well I should add!) and I think that splitting it further into musical genre is going to dilute the content and contributions to much. Splitting the topics between equipment and technique could work, but there's always going to be that middle ground that gets missed when technique and equipment are talked about in the same thread. However, if anyone wants to have an experiment and start a thread for technique I'll be perfectly happy to pin it and see how we get on?
 4. The only 'tubby' I have is in the fridge with margarine in it because I am lean, slim and have the kind of body that women would die [s]from[/s] for. That aside, welcome...
 5. I've never been sacked but I've fired plenty of people over the years. What generally happens is that people don't 'perform' over a long period of time and are given warnings and the tools to make the required improvement. In a band situation that basic step generally doesn't happen and if it comes out of the blue, as it has here, it's usually a bit of a shock. Getting angry about it won't change whats happened here so pick yourself up, dust yourself down and go out and find new pastures.
 6. Well I'll be dead honest. I'm a creature of habit. I've worked with cab(s) and amp on stages for nearly 35 years and that's just not a habit I see any need to break. Yeah, I'm getting older but I still know how to lift things up and have never had so much as a twinge in any part of my body whilst moving my kit around. I've tried using a floorpod and got so confused with the hundreds of available settings that, for me, it just wasn't worth using as I just don't need to have all those options - not a case of me not trusting the technology, more a case of me not trusting myself to use it properly and being to stubborn to learn something I couldn't see adding any value to what I already have. Yes, I'm sure that I have ancestors who used to drop their clogs into machinery...
 7.
It's the folk fans equivalent to how Bilbo must feel when when people mention "Moondance"
Ah but he's never heard me play Moondance before. I was told it took on a 'whole new feel' when it was decided to stick a Folk Rock bass player who'd never heard the tune before into the middle of a jazz band that he'd met for the first time only 10 minutes before...
 8.
Yes, I think this is the thing that winds up a lot of people about them, especially people who like folk music. I feel this way a little bit myself, but I don't hold the band responsible for it - the hype about how they're somehow the future of folk comes mostly from journalists.
Absolutely. They can play, they can write a catchy tune, they have a bright future ahead of them and they have a quite a big following already from what I can gather (I suspect that Milty might like them... ). They're not the future of folk though.
 9. From Fenders point of view it makes perfect sense. It'll hit the SH market (is it real all over or is it just a Fender neck?) but Fender don't make any money out of that market anyway. People buy necks and stick fake decals on them - Fender will now get a major slice of that market and get a free advert every time they sell one. I'm guessing they're probably MIM or perhaps even Squier necks with a Fender logo on them.
 10. I've not listened to the show since he left and was replaced by that boring droney chap who's doing it these days. That URL has just joined my favourites list.
 11. For me Mumford are one of those bands that belong in the category defined by well intentioned people starting off a sentence with 'you'll like this, it's folk music'. They're undeniably good at what they do, it's just that 'what they do' isn't quite my cup of tea...
 12.
That's a shame
Indeed, but as much as my bottom lip is trembling in anguish, I'm sure I'll cope with it...
 13. Larry the Lame has unexpectedly had to leave us.
 14. This is one of my faves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLhdY6_juDk
 15.
Dry joints are dead easy to achieve with the new EuroSafe™ Lead-Free solder.
Ah but it's safe. You'd be surprised how many people spend their free time licking circuit boards.
 16. If you know the sizes then you're going to struggle to find anywhere in Luton that just sells them singly. If you do find anywhere, then you're probably going to be paying over the odds for them. Nip down to Maplins (in the Arndale Centre) or that massive B&Q Megastore (just off Dunstable Road) and buy a set as barkin recommended above. As soon as you adjust the trussrod, you can pretty much guarantee that the bridge saddles will need adjusting - at that point you'll thank us for telling you to buy a set. EDIT: As for the ball end ones, I can see no real reason why not but I'd just go for the plain ones - if you really need to use a ball end allen key then there's a fair chance that it's going to slip and that'll nearly always cause some damage to the allen socket.
 17.
I just hope they haven't punctured my NFB.
Sorry, I would have replied earlier but ever since I changed my name to 'Hub' I've been a little distracted...
 18.
Taxi ......
No chance! You can bl**dy well walk after that one...
 19. Did you know that if you type 'Knob jokes' into the search engine it takes you straight to Shell's profile page?
 20.
I'm Mr.July.
I'm Mr Earious...
 21.
Hey, I've just had an idea for making a bit of money for the BC coffers. We could do a nudie BC calender! What d'you reckon girls (and guys?).
I'd pay not to see one of those!
 22. That's fab. Bet she's glad you're not a drummer...
 23.
On a more serious note, I have a poison dart here, for the next to promise naked female bassists and not deliver.
SORRY YOU WERE OUT. We have tried to deliver your naked female bassist today. As you were out we have returned your naked female bassist to our central hub. 24.
Close the curtains, though, please.
And knees, for pitys sake don't forget the knees...
