1. How about a walking music tour? I,m going early next year and this is on my to do list. https://rockjunket.com/
2. We somehow manage to segue Smoke On The Water into Rappers Delight
3.
You should know that the whole of Denmark Street is being renovated shop by shop, which is why Wunjo's is crammed into a basement. Should be great when it's all finished. Having said that space is a premium and I'm sure punters and assistants alike would much prefer more space. I find the Bass Gallery to be too cramped as well and the staff in my experience much less helpful than Wunjo's. Davo
I thought Denmark Street was being demolished to make way for crossrail?
4. Experts have modified this instrument over the years in order, no doubt, to further improve tonal quality. Sounds like our old friend is up to his old tricks again!
5. B. It happens quite a lot in my experience.
6. I saw him a few years back at the Ready Steady 60's show at the London Palladium. His son was playing bass. RIP
7.
BL = Band Leader
Like Joe Loss or Glenn Miller.
8. We have two guitarists. One is always tuning up. The other one rarely tunes up on stage, but breaks a string more often.
9. Lovely! Welcome to the exclusive Limelight owners club.
10. Would it it be worth getting one of those travel plugs to use on it?
11. Thats a beauty! I thought Limelight had stopped using the F decal on their basses?
12.
The year that we played at Butlin's, the "travelling" band (who played a different camp site each night) were "Brian Poole and Blackcat" - yes, he of the Tremelos. I know so because he always wore his T-shirt proclaiming that fact. Unfortunately he always wore a leather jacket that covered the first and last two letters of his name on the T-shirt. I don't think he appreciated me calling him Ian Poo
I once did a gig wearing a Star Wars T shirt featuring Darth Vader saying " I am your father' I couldnt understand why our guitarist keep looking over at me and giggling. I asked him at the end of the gig what he was laughing at, and he said that my guitar strap was covering certain letters so all he could see was 'I am fat!"
13.
I've played Butlins at Skeggy a couple of times...
Is that from Viz??
14.
When playing your bass live, in a studio or at home, how does it make you feel. Are you lost in what you are doing or is it something that has now become repetitive, a chore?
I felt I was stuck in a rut with my bass playing, It felt like a chore. So I looked on YouTube for some walking bass videos. I discovered a whole new approach to walking that I had not thought of before. Now I am enjoying playing again using my newly learned approach.
15.
Ok guys, most know I'm a Yankee. What is a holiday camp? Blue
http://www.seasidehistory.co.uk/camps.html
16. Knock yerself out! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skegness
17. I had a Laney Linebacker once. Never again, dreadful sounding crap.
18. We always start with a loud 'Good Evening!' and then launch straight in to the opening riff of 'Pretty Vacant' That grabs them from the off. We dont play the same song twice, although as an encore we will sometimes pull a song from the first set when the place was quieter. The folks who came in later wont have heard it first time round, and the ones who were, dont mind hearing it again.
19. A Nate Mendel. I use one for my main gigging bass, and even Scott has been using them for his bass lessons.
20.
Morrissey apparently doesn't think bass players (or drummers) contribute that much...
Gary Day who played with Morrissey is a member on here. I wonder what he thinks of this?
21. Andy Rourke was only 19 or 20 years old when he played on those records. An excellent bassist at such a young age. I was roughly the same age as him and could barely string 2 notes together!
22. get yerself the NY 121 and you have small, light 500w rig. I should know, I use it every week!
23.
What is this 'on the coast' thing, anyway? How is that limiting?
Could be worse, They could live on Lindesfarne!
24. There's a lot of love on here for The Gallery in London. I went there once and found them rude and surly. I never went back. Wunjo's however, let me play loads of P basses with no issues. Even encouraging me to try them through different amps. I bought 3 basses from there and still go back.
