Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel that strongly when a musician I like dies. It's a bit sad - sure, someone dying is always sad...but I never seem to be moved as much as others are.

I'd echo this - try a few and see how you get on. I use the grey Dunlop 0.88 ones when I use a plectrum, quite thin as it goes, but I'm a fey indie kid at heart and heavy plectrums hurt my delicate fingers and stop me making daisy chains in the long grass.

Interesting - I've got a Neopak 3.5 and the valve preamp is very noisy, and I too have tried a few different valves but to no avail. 😣

That's where every discussion of tab and stave goes on this forum, sadly. Stave may be the best of notation methods, but if it doesn't work for you then that's fine. I use tab occasionally alongside the music (because that's what tab is for in my opinion - it's not meant to be used in isolation) but I'm not bothered about stave and I'm not bothered about those who say I should learn it. You do as you wish Stub.
