Well, I've got a jam/try out with the prospective band on Friday. They've sent three tunes over - one's very good, one not my cup of tea but all well within reach, stylistically and ability-wise. 👍

Not what I'm looking for, but we're both looking for bands ! And I think here's part of the frustration some seem to experience with places like JMB - what's a 'band' ? Everyone's idea of a band isn't the same.

No, you're right it's silly. It's not showing off the bass, it's the bassist showing off.

Not genres, what types of bands...100% professional corporate gigs, or a few people knocking out some tunes for fun once a week. Covers or originals ? I see very few ads for top-level professional bands on places like JMB, lots for what seem like less high-end affairs. (I'm not high end btw )

Aaaaah, you see, this is why I've avoided learning how to play slap bass. A prerequisite for thinking that a slap bass fits in a Beatles song is knowing how to play slap bass. It's the devil's road, slap bass....the devil's road.
