  1. Ah, all becomes clear. I didn't relate "burly" to the effect - more that it was a chunky design.
  2. REALLY like that!!! It's going to look amazing - jealous doesn't even cover it!!!
  3. Don't know if they are interchangeable (don't see why not) but Yamaha sent me some TR nuts with longer thread so that there is more adjustment. I would donate the spare to the project but I have no idea where I put it - in "a safe place" obviously.
  4. IMO There are times when you can't get a fair price for a good item. I'd rather keep hold of something I don't need than sell it for less than I think it's worth. Leave it in it's case, forget about it for a while and wait for a time when would be buyers are a bit more flush.
  5. Not sure about "the best" but I'm very happy with my Yamaha TRB 5iiF especially in combination with my NE -1 Parametric equalizer Pre-amp.
  6. I'm a tapewound convert too...a warmer tone and softer feel make playing an absolute joy.
  7. If they have a great vocalist - "Loving you (is easy cos you're beautiful)".
  8. I'll have a tenners worth of whatever you're smoking...😄
  9. or just check the Funk & Groove thread for inspiration. Warning: Watching any of @bubinga5's videos will generally cost you money - CDs from his recommendations. 😉😉
  10. Good price currently but 6 days to go....expect the price to go up.
  11. Make sure you sign up to Scott's Bass Lessons and work your way through the beginners lessons. These will give you a good basis to build on.
  12. What @SteveXFR said...
  13. Learn the notes on the fattest string (E) and then learn the relationship of the notes on the other strings to the E. A string is 5 frets down or 7 up D string is 2 frets up G string is 3 frets down
  14. I've seen these advertised in excess of £1k. I thought this would be snagged and bagged in no time. Expect seller's remorse @Burns-bass
  15. Don't dismiss the GK Backline range. I bought a 110 when I started playing again and still have it. I find it ideal for taking to friends homes for impromptu rehearsal due to its small size but potent output. I recently took a 112 (100w) in p/x..had one before and was impressed.
  16. Well jealous...
  17. That's the biggest loads of boll0cks I've ever heard
  18. Sounds like it's under some chemicals. Is it lacquered over - if so you'll need to remove this first (obviously )
  19. I use these - amazing tone that you didn't know you wanted till you have it. Great buy for somebody..
  20. Hope that it won't be too much effort to remove the neon colours - a bit to bright for me.
  21. The fretless looks amazing...
  22. I had one in red - Nice bass but rarely used. GLWTS
  23. I think that raffles are governed by the Gaming Commission and must comply with their R&Rs.
  24. I've recently been recycling strings to @Useless amateur who builds project basses for charity. At least I know they are being used for a good cause. Before we open the floodgates of strings to @Useless amateur make sure you contact him first.
