  1. My first question would be is through a gigging rig or a practice amp? I find that on my practice amp using my Hipshot Extender down to low D it doesn’t have that much clarity so can only assume what a low B would be like through it.
  2. Definitely Chris, from what I’ve read how The Beatles were in their Hamburg days wasn’t that far removed from punk, which is my main area of music.
  3. Good job done, agree you’ve left the right amount of room for the guitars, which for AC/DC is essential but some bassists don’t get their heads around that
  4. Like that Crawford, has a similar feel to it as the Simple Minds stadium sound.
  5. Currently watching the story of Elton Johns Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, very interesting and a fantastic album.
  6. Not sure about undeserved but on overdrive pedals I’d like to gear them with a touch of break up rather than full on. Additionally I’d like to see demos of pedals with Jazz or Precision type basses rather than coffee table type basses. Nothing against those basses, it’s just with a Jazz or Precision I can get an idea of how the pedal would sound for me, whereas demoed with a bass that I - and many I’d guess - have no experience of it’s difficult to gain an understanding of how the pedal would work for me.
  7. Agree, I Saw Her Standing There is a good case to that. Once you get the hang of it it’s easy enough, but Macca sang lead vocals on that, not quite so easy doing both. I just watched a live clip of them doing it in 1963 and he doesn’t even look at the fretboard whilst playing.
  8. One of the nicest Precision basses around, irrespective of cost.
  9. Sounds more like rhythm guitar, great use of the instrument in a non traditional way
  10. I’m Ashdown biased, pretty much indestructible products (something where Ampeg slips behind a bit) and sound great as well, plus based in UK with excellent customer service so any problems easy to get sorted.
  11. I’d recommend either a Squier Jazz or Precision, and then do a search for a local luthier/guitar shop to set it up properly. Fender type basses are still pretty much industry standard so learning on one gives a good foundation for later on.
  12. Yes, I had one of those and the dispersion was great.

How about Broke my Wisdom Tooth on My Kebab Last Night On no, silly me, that’s what actually happened when I tucked in last night. Shame, was a lovely kebab too.
  14. Good to see you back
  15. Runnin Wild by Airbourne is pretty good for the car (as is most of their material)
  16. Whereabouts did you get it from @Stofferson, have been looking at these for a while as PJ might be the way forwards.
  17. I think he’s a great bassist, when you think about what the bass did up until The Beatles, his melodic playing coupled with the fact that he was often singing while playing those melodic lines, well that to me is good playing.
  18. I recall being horrified with myself for liking Karma Chameleon by Culture Club as it wasn’t punk, I actually felt guilty about this, which looking back is just daft.
  19. I’ve been rather tempted by those too.
  20. That’s a very good point Dan, I’ve stacks of gear I need to move on, not for the money, I’ve just established what gear I’m keeping moving forwards, but given travel restrictions along with lack of money out there I’m not putting any instruments up for a while yet.
  21. Out of that list I only like one song, Unchained Melody, and even then I far prefer a live tv version that you can find in YouTube to the studio version.
  22. I like it when it adds to a song, such as Bowie’s Ashes to Ashes, or a couple of the Duran songs, but don’t like it when it’s just an onslaught of notes with no groove or discernible riff.
  23. Risen from the rubble
