1. I had a Sadowsky with a chambered body - tone was fabulous but I doubt it was anything to do with chambering (probably a weight issue). I've had a couple of Alembics with chambers too - again, fantastic tone but I'm pretty sure that's down to a complex mix of factors in which the chambers are a very small part (Alembics can be very heavy, even with the chambers)
2. Hmmm...the best bass amp I've ever heard. Stupidly expensive, but worth every penny.
3. Clarky, I don't know if you've had a look at the Epifani range - possibly the first mover in world of lightweight, very high-end bass gear? Currently, Epifani have the ul501 - Class A/B - and Piccolo (D) - I'm not too sure about prices but probably just about in range (especially if you can find a used one). I have a ul502 and it's a very lovely amp indeed - it does the hifi thing but has some real warmth and presence - it's also a twin channel unit. At 16lbs it may be too heavy, however, they're sometimes found on here and Talkbass at around £600-700. I tried mine up against a LM (2?) and whilst the latter was very nice, the two amps were really in different classes (IMO).
4. I almost always have a bass in the office, though not for any structured practice - mainly relaxation at the end of the day. I have my own office so colleagues don't care or think it's reasonably cool. My students don't know what a bass is - to most, a MacBook is a musical instrument and wooden things are furniture. The current office bass is a Celinder J Update - lovely and relaxes me just to peek at it
5.
The way I figure it, our humble country could do with more Alembics
I couldn't agree more. I've always worked on an additional 25% (duty and VAT on the total price of the item and shipping). Good luck - I've had some great non-EU deals
6.
Good grief, that I certainly didn't need to see! Stunning.
Beat me to it Shaun - absolutely beautiful! Still my favourite body shape for a bass anywhere
7. Absolutely lovely - I'm a massive fan of Martin's work. It's hard to tell from the images, but does the plastic battery cover on the back sit proud from the body or is it the latter routed? Also, do you know if the LEDs were fitted from new or were they a later addition? Good luck, a stunning bass
8. Absolutely lovely - one of the nicest '75s I've seen! Is it a heavy one (my '76 sounded amazing but was errr...somewhat substantial)?
9. 'Botheration'...such an under-used word. Lovely bit of kit too (for which I have no use at all) - however, a big bump for an utterly trustworthy member of our community.
10. WITHDRAWN - Evidence Audio Lyric cable in perfect condition - very little use. 10' RA to straight jack. This is a stiff cable but still highly giggable. Ultra high quality and EA's precursor to the Lyric HG. Price on the latter is around £70 (I think) and I paid around £60 for this cable about four years ago. Only selling as I bought a few at the same time and this one has seen almost no use. £26 collected from central Manchester or I can ship within the UK for around £3.50.
11. I wilted - I'm a weak man
12. Wow - bargain of the year! Somebody is going to be very happy
13. Another one that's been through my hands (recently) - a compulsive purchase but a truly outstanding instrument!
14. Lovely bass - for me, Celinder builds some of the finest Js available - incredibly playable and great, fat tones. Is this an earlyish Jazz Update (looks like one)? Also, the board looks like it could be Pau Ferrau. I know Celinder has used Cocobolo but the figuring is usually more distinctive - good luck, a gorgeous bass at a great price
15. Love the blocks and binding effect but dots and binding ('66 Jazz) does funny things to me - butterbean tuners too -what a cool look!
16. Very realistic price for one of these (given recent dramatic hikes in Fodera pricing). The chestnut is gorgeous - looks very similar to the top on the MG5 I owned - probably from the same piece. Great, focused tone from Foderas too - the boards are (sadly) just far too wide for me. Bump for a very lovely instrument.
17. Wow, lovely! Photos straight and everything too. But with absolute confidence - Binks is a brick.
18. My Streamline is the 32"scale with 16.5 spacing and is narrow, flat and very fast - I don't find it tiring at all (and I'm sensitive to this). I'd concur with most posters - the Streamline has a typically focused, 'modern', present Status tone - more aggressive than a Steinberger but without the very extended bottom end (IME). The Status is extremely comfortable too - ergonomics are well thought-through, though I find it better on a strap than when seated. I'd still love a Steinberger though - groundbreaking design classic
19. Wow, absolutely beautiful - this and shell pink are my favourite colours - looks like a stunning job! Is it nitro?

A lovely looking bass - I'm a fan of Shoreline. It may be worth including some details of the model(s) of Status that you're looking for
21. You could have a look at the Fusion F1 too - about £120 new. Lighter than a Mono (I think) with a more rigid feel - also significantly shorter than a Mono - a J only just fits! They're fairly comfortable to wear, especially when using both back-straps. Good sized pockets. Also, I posted a review of Mono, iGiG and Protec Contego somewhere recently, it may be worth digging around
22. I had a Wechter 9400 for a short while - a beautiful hand-built monster - absolutely gorgeous tonewoods and staggeringly good construction. The downside was that it's a very big bass and physically just too much for me. I think they're around £3500 in the UK and well worth consideration if you're looking for something high-end (and have incredibly long arms). Also, if you can find one second hand, they go for about £1400 I think. Try this link: http://www.wechterguitars.com/customs/9400_bass
