  1. Oh yeah, the pickup pan being wired backwards is still daft, and they even call it out in the manual as something you can change with a soldering iron if you want to 😬
  2. I took delivery of this yesterday and finally got a chance to play it properly today. It absolutely sings, with mwah for days. Out of the box the action was playable but high for my tastes, but knocking the saddles down quite a lot was no bother. Need to tweak the pickup positions as a result but that's a matter of taste really. Just been playing through a blank Helix preset and it sounds great. The neck is lovely, quite flat I think, but very playable IMO. Can't really see it in my crappy picture but the sparkle in the black finish is nice. Took me a bit to realise I'd put the treble and bass to +10 instead of 0 but that one's on me. Couple of downsides so far: the treble side of the P pickup isn't sitting flat (the bridge side is lower than the neck side), and I think the G and D strings are too quiet as a result -- may need to look at how it's attached. Also the plastic film over the control plate seems to have been under the screws and knobs, so it seems impossible to get it off cleanly -- it's been about 20 years since I've had a bass new from the factory though so maybe that's normal? Overall I'm pretty happy, not least with the fact that my fretless chops (such as they were) don't seem to have completely disappeared.
  3. Plot twist - I got a Sadowsky Metro Express, and the bag that came with it fits the Conklin, just. That'll do. The Conklin case would have cost more for shipping than the case itself.
  4. A good shout -- I've emailed to inquire. They list one on their site but not clear if it will fit, or how much it will cost to ship to the UK.
  5. Looks lovely, but those violin corners look to be in almot exactly the right spot to stick into your ribcage?
  6. Thanks for checking guys, much appreciated.
  7. It turns out that Googling "estrella case" brings back a lot of results for lager -- from what I can gather they used to make bags for Fodera but don't seem to have been active for a few years now.
  8. Thanks @pete.young, hopefully this makes sense: The length is similar to a regular 4 string, the body is a bit wider but it's the proportions of the top horn that's problematic.
  9. 💯
  10. Thanks folks, an acoustic bass case might be a shout. @binky_bass do you still have a Conklin Sidewinder ERB? Any gigbag tips?
  11. Just bought an interface from Patrick -- excellent comms, quick postage, well packed, and the interface is still mint. Deal with confidence. Thanks mate!
  12. I need to get a gigbag that will fit my Conklin 7 string, which is both wider than average and has a much larger top horn than most. In the past I had a generic Ritter gigbag, and the zip barely closed around it. Requirements: - Fits a grotesquely oversized bass - Has symmetrical backpack straps - Don't mind paying for quality, but I don't need a huge amount of protection (calling it a gigbag is a bit of a misnomer...) Can anyone recommend something?
  13. I bought a volume pedal from Brian - well packed, quick delivery, excellent communication. A pleasure to deal with.
  14. Is this 34" scale length?
  15. Nice find! I had no idea you could get an Epi LP with a trem.
  16. Minor tangent but I ordered one based on these recommendations and this was the only box they could find for it apparently. If anyone needs a bunch of air filled packing material...
  17. Bought a keyboard from John, arrived as described, well packed, not much more you can ask for really. Cheers!
  18. Somewhat surprised that Line 6 seem to have moved away from this approach in recent years.
  19. would you be able to tell me the diameter of the strap lock buttons at the base? (the instrument I need some for has the mounting point sunk in slightly so anything over about 9.5mm won't fit, and I can't see any specs on the D'Addario website, helpfully).
  20. Price drop: £300 I believe this is a 2014 model, in sapphire blue burst quilted maple finish. 9.5/10 condition, the only mark I can see is some tarnishing on the 24th fret. Never been gigged, rarely been played -- turns out I don't have that much use for that 8th string. I like the 27" scale a lot though, and it has the typical Ibanez slim, fast neck. Possibly open to trades/PX for 7 string guitars or 5/6 string basses - open to trading up for the right instrument. I don't have a case so collection preferred, but if you're interested postage can probably be arranged.
  21. Pair of Dunlop strap buttons (not locking) with screws and felt washers. Pack opened but they're unused -- the guitar they were bought for has the top button position slightly countersunk and these are about 1.5mm too wide to fit. Still have the £4.99 GuitarGuitar price tag on. £4 posted, or swap for some chrome strap buttons that are <10mm at the base 😩
  22. Absolutely this. Computers are dreadful, really.
