This was common in the days before 3 wire mains cables were used, which insure that all devices are properly grounded. But it usually presented a problem only if one was holding a guitar and touching the mic. Just holding a mic should never present a problem. Even if the mic body is receiving current she would have to be a path to ground to feel anything. Have you had someone else hold the mic to see if they feel it?

Chienmortbb started following Microphone shocking
-
This is odd. There is no reason that the singer should get a shock from a mic unless there is a fault on the mixer and that would be unusual. You need to measure the voltage between the mic grille and earth. It should be very small, millivolts ideally.

Fortress Flashback I think it was called? Warwick build with a retro-esque look. Remember them being available in the late 90’s, but not for long. Nice basses.

Considering that I've been playing in bands for almost 50 years now, I have only been in one acrimonious split. It brought about the end of a band that I had been involved with for 13 years through numerous line-up changes that had seen every member except me replaced at least twice and had left me as the "de facto" band leader, although I had always been one of the main motivating forces behind the band. The falling out occurred between myself and singer, who was a complete diva and simultaneously very insecure musically, unlike me who knew exactly what I wanted musically and if anyone didn't agree with me, then they could f- right off. (I'm a lot more relaxed these days.) I had actually tried to leave the band a few months earlier as I had become completely fed up with having to organise the other band members musical lives, but they had talked me out of it and things were actually looking quite promising as we were on the point of securing a development deal with a studio owner who was also a member of a reasonable successful 90s band. I don't recall what set the agreement off, and therefore it was probably something completely trivial but it ended up with the two of us screaming at each other. This happened at my house where we also rehearsed and recorded and I'm surprised that none of my neighbours called the police thinking there was a domestic going on. Eventually the singer stormed out and the rest of the band made their excuses and left looking very sheepish. Considering how desperate the singer had been to "make it" at the time, as far as I can tell, she's done almost nothing musical since. I've run into her twice in the last 20 years when we have said "hello" to each other and that's been it. Interestingly the demise of the band led to a very interesting musical development which involved being asked to put together a retrospective CD compilation by the very first band I was in for a US indie label and took up the best part of the next two years of my life. When I was ready to join another band I found one where I could just turn up and play bass and not have any involvement beyond that. That kept me occupied for another 4 years until I joined The Terrortones.

I have some bad news for you. In 1987 I inadvertently bought a 66J because it looked like Jaco's. You can guess the rest......

I would keep the line. It looks neat and intentional. If anyone asked how you did such a thin line you don’t have to tell them the truth 😉

Saturday evening (23rd August) there are some interesting programmes on BBC2. Starting at 9.10pm is ‘We want the funk’, a documentary showing the roots of funk right through to Parliament - Funkadelic. This is followed at 10.30 by a showing of James Brown at London’s Electric Proms from 2006, and then at 11.30pm is the original classic movie ‘Shaft’ from 1971. -

This was on my board for a few years, never let me down but just fancied a change so I’ve got a boss chorus on the board now. The toneprint options make it a pretty versatile pedal, found myself mostly using the Duff McKagan toneprint. No original box for this unfortunately but will be packaged securely. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers

Got this in a trade on here recently but it’s just not got much use. Between the green Russian and the grey stache that I own I have my fuzz needs covered. This one is two big muffs running in parallel, one of them has a standard tone control, the other has a mid boost/cut. Certainly a lot to play with and a lot of sounds to be gotten out of it! No original box with this but will be packaged securely. Price will include postage in the UK

I got it at GAK March 2024 as an early birthday present - I sorted it out through one of the staff there Ryan who I had a few email conversations with about it. My local luthier set it up for me with the new strings and the old ones are included. I assume it was made in late 23 or very early 24 as it’s a newer model and relatively recent addition to the Hofner range. I’ve enclosed pictures of the booklet which has the matching serial number to the inside label - you can even see the name of the craftsman handwritten on the label. Hofner really know how to make something special. I’m sure Hofner would be able to find the exact date for you if needed. If you want pictures of the inside label and serial number and are seriously interested please PM me.

Electro-Harmonix Clone Theory Vintage Chorus Pedal NYC Made 70’s/80’s This is the one made famous in the 80’s by musicians including Peter Hook, John McGeoch and again later by Kirk Cobain. You can get sweeping chorus, subtle vibrato, to mad flange and synth like sounds from this unit. It’s a hard wired mains unit and the casing has plenty of dings and touch ups to the paint. It works perfectly and sounds great. These are quite rare now. I’ve owned two and this is the one that is all original. It’s an old pedal and like most vintage EH gear a bit noisy but it’s not a particular issue for live gigs.

Basses that look like highly figured table tops. Sandberg headstocks. Flats. Straight jackplugs out of the body. Strat jackplates. Referring to a bass as she or her. Gig bags that aren't fit for purpose. While I ran a Darkglass AO900 head for a while, I didn't bond with it, so Darkglass AO900 heads. Reissues that are simply all wrong. Reissues.

QSC CP12 Active PA Speaker 1000 Watts One of two - priced individually or for a small discount if sold as a pair. This speaker is as new and has not been used since purchase. It comes with additional QSC waterproof cover for outdoor use. Very powerful speakers however I’m downsizing and selling my larger portable PA gear. Street price is £579 cheapest I can find so this is a good saving. The covers cost an extra £67. The user manual is included. I have two of these for sale. I can knock off £40 if you buy the pair. Pickup definitely preferred but talk to me if this is impossible. UK only. Postage would be at buyer’s cost and I’d need to source packaging as the boxes have been recycled. These speakers get glowing reviews in Sound on Sound magazine - https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/qsc-cp-series I own a pair of QSC CP8s which are perfectly fine for keyboard monitoring and rehearsal PA so these aren’t needed now for personal use.
