Close one that, not surprised, all great tracks 👌 Just wanted to say a quick thanks and farewell, I’m going on a BC hiatus from next week, would have been from today but I’m giving some bits for sale in the classifieds one more week. Cheers fellas, it’s been fun and inspiring 💙 -
What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

Ukuleles just sound like those toy guitars your annoying sister in law would buy your young child for Christmas. I guess thats because they are just toy guitars for kids. There's a ukulele orchestra at my kids school. It sounds even worse than their string quartet made up of three violins and two cellos (quartet means four doesn't it?) all with terrible intonation. -
Do people mask off the area for handles or simply roller [Tuffcab|Armacab|Wernex] over them? I've drilled holes for the speaker, the port and the rear panel. I've also put M3 or M4 pronged t-nuts behind the holes so that's all done. Should I mask the area off or not? Not yet done holes for the handle or amp mount so checking now. I think I should mask off but not sure. Thanks Rob

The review says it all: comprehensive, US published and hard to find. Price is UK posted, unread condition. Now £16. EVEN LOWER! £14 posted. Times And Seasons - The Rise and Fall and Rise of the Zombies Robin Platts HoZac Books, $31.99 356 pages Classic British pop, expertly chronicled Few books on the Zombies exist, but theirs is a story worth telling. And it's predictable that, given their Stateside star status, this quintessentially English quintet of She's Not There and Tell He No fame should be chronicled on an American imprint. The band only hung up its touring shoes last year after leader/keyboardist Rod Argent's stroke, but the work he and singer Colin Blunstone created after their reunion in 2001 - the years since 1968 being silent, in a Zombies sense - are also covered in detail by author Platts. The band always had a youthful camaraderie, having come together at high school, and that comes over faithfully in this account of their heyday - plus a long tail that details their subsequent musical careers. While Blunstone went solo and Argent created an eponymous prog band (of God Gave Rock And Roll To You fame), guitarist Paul Atkinson went behind the scenes and signed Abba to CBS - a feather in anyone's cap. Detail is forensic without being stifling. If the layout is a trifle fanzine-y, the integration of illustrative material like press cuttings and photos with the text helps make this an easy read. And the urge to play the music, always the sign of a good book, is irresistible.

That's some serious mileage. I've even seen it pop up when discussing pickguard colours.

Well done guys, 3 great tracks for a joint win , we can sort out a photo in due course, but it will be for the January challenge . As is tradition, December challenge is a cover challenge, if you have recorded a cover version this year you can use that, or get busy recording one 😁 I shall set the thread up as soon as I can , hopefully this evening -

The Drummer and Singer decided they wanted to carry on with me and I asked if @Dankology would be interested in sharing guitar and bass duties. The Video was done by us (it’s my Daughter in the video) All recording done by us. this is “Running Home” https://www.facebook.com/share/17SqnCzL55/?mibextid=wwXIfr https://www.instagram.com/lettersheleft? igsh=MXZwY2diNXNja3l4cg%3D%3D&utm_source=qr Music is available to buy/stream on all platforms enjoy!

I built an explorer type guitar from pitbull in Australia during covid, electronics were a bit cheap but overall the quality was surprisingly good.
-
I have contacted Hypex and they confirmed that they no longer make the plate amp and are going to see if they have a service agent that I can take the plate/cab to for repair. Though it would be cool if Barefaced had one lurking in a corner cupboard in their workshop that they could sell or give me. 🙂Wishful thinking though.

I play at several open mic nights where most of the guitars are acoustics with pickups. They get run straight into the mixer. Same for the singer's acoustic with my second band, which he just uses on a few songs. It would be an idea to get a feedback blocker - a disc that fits into the soundhole and reduces feedback issues. https://sygnusguitars.com/best-acoustic-guitar-feedback-busters/

tauzero started following Search for phrase doesn't work properly
-
Tried searching for the phrase "good for metal". I initially put the words in without quotes and was prompted to search for the phrase "good for metal", which I clicked on, and the search string was then enclosed in quotes. However, as well as returning the properly matched phrase, I also got plenty of results which were just "good" and "metal" (with "for" presumably being somewhere in the text that doesn't get displayed in the search results). So the phrase search looks as if it just searches for good AND for AND metal, not the actual phrase.
-
The first appearance of the phrase on Basschat was 2009, but it was a serious enquiry. Incidentally, the search function is crap when looking for a phrase - it doesn't search for the phrase, which is a fairly fundamental requirement of searching for a phrase.

I can't think of any reason to avoid Ashdown amps. I haven't really come across one I didn't like that didn't have a usable tone with minimal fiddling of the tone controls. ABM's are a favourite in particular. I've owned and used ABM200's, 300's, 400's, 500's, and 600's. 900's and 1200's are just double 500's and 600's and not really on my radar. I currently use a rack ABM600 and it's superb. I do like the early mosfet powered units and just recently purchased a late 1990's ABM400 from @harrison from this here parish. I've fully restored it and these early mosfet units have a really unique tone while still having that same ABM grunt and presence all ABM's have imho. All I need is an early ABM200 to complete my collection of old school iron and I'll be a very happy bunny. Imho, there's no gig you couldn't play with a good ABM 😁

This. It was a thing when I joined TB in 2007.

Best wishes, and I hope it's been caught very early.

Notably "the dude with the Steinberger" and Glen Browne with the five-string (I don't know him, I just made a note of his name). The third episode was far and away the best. If the best snippets from the first two episodes (Glen Matlock on the Anarchy in the UK bassline in the first episode and a couple of other bits, the bit on slap and on singing when playing bass from the second episode) were shoehorned into the third episode, you could chuck away all the rest. -
Hi Chris Thanks. I have looked a BF cabs before but frankly I don't get paid enough gigging to justify the cost of two cabs. I have looked into the construct of their cabs as I am ( or was) a joiner so could easily make them but I know how much time and effort they have gone to to perfect their design...wouldn't feel right making copies. I do have iems and maybe I will have to go back to using them... I toured for years with them but really prefer to have on stage sound... I just feel more 'alive' on stage without them. I might speak to the guys at Bare faced and see what they can do.
