  2. For sale is my 2016 Fender American Elite Jazz Bass, made in Corona, California, finished in 3-Tone Sunburst with maple fingerboard. This bass is in genuine 10/10 condition — no dings, no marks, no issues. It has been extremely well looked after and is exactly as it left the factory. It comes with the original Fender Elite moulded hard case, which is also in excellent condition. Specs: • Made in USA (Corona, CA) • 2016 model • Alder body • Maple neck & fingerboard • Compound radius fingerboard (9.5”–14”) • Modern C/D neck profile • Graphite reinforced neck • Fender 4th-Gen Noiseless Jazz pickups • 18V active preamp with active/passive switch • HiMass bridge • Lightweight tuners • Original electronics, hardware, and finish Condition: • 10 out of 10 • No mods • No repairs • Fully original • Perfect neck, frets, and electronics Reason for sale: This is an absolutely superb bass, but I personally prefer the burp and growl of my ’62 passive Jazz Bass. purely a tone preference. I did consider converting this bass to passive, but ultimately decided against it as I didn’t want to alter or “ruin” such a well-designed, high-end instrument. It deserves to stay exactly as Fender intended.
  3. still using the old sound city 🤣
  4. Thank you. Yes, i feel it's a good price for an instrument of this pedigree and versatility
  5. It's not always easy to know what is going down well sometimes. We play a variety of venues: some like to dance, some places It's nigh on impossible to get anyone on the floor. However we nearly always get positive comments, which sometimes comes as a bit of a surprise when you think you're not going down that well. I guess all you can do is enjoy this fleeting existence and hope some of the joy rubs off on other people 😁
  6. interesting comments about the behringer ones, some of the nasallyness described seems almost appealing. i think ive used an old audio technica atm41a the most, i also have a sennheiser which i think is an 835 but the paints all peeled off so the model label is gone 😩 honestly my vocals are very pg99 type screamoey and i dont really notice much difference between the 2, but i really dislike the squarer grille shape of the sennheiser so its usually the atm. i wonder though, if something more actively terrible might be... better for me
  7. Yep 2025 marked my 45 years as a bassist. I really should be much better than I am after this amount of time, though I can play what I need to. I remember getting my first bass at 15 and thinking “I’m now a bassist” and that thought has stayed with me throughout my life. Even in the times when I’ve been playing guitar in bands I’ve always considered myself as a bassist who can play guitar rather than as a guitarist.
  8. In 2026 I’ll have been playing bass for 40 years. How the hell did that happen? (And I’ve still got the Arion tuner and guitar stand I got for Xmas 1986). Here’s to the next, errr, 40 years.
  9. No clue mate - not worried; when the right person jumps for it they’re getting a stonking bass. Unfortunately I’m sat on the dark side at the moment 🫣
  10. Mine is on its way- allegedly safe in the hands of FedEx
  11. would also accept trade for an iPad pro T.Hanks
  12. 20 years ago was 1974 to loads of people here? 😂
  13. That's the bit i don't understand with some bands. If we find a song isn't working or the audience all of a sudden sit down because we started a song then we have a discussion on whether to remove the song or put it on standby. The full band will feel when a song isn't working. What i find over here is that the Glam bands can be great party night fun but with Blues / rock then a lot of people will be watching and admiring the musicianship rather than as an overall show so its swings and roundabouts really. Its different audiences for different styles. Dave
  14. I am following this with interest.
  15. ok........ i lent a pair from a friend, and..... totally different.. in my new pair in comparison there is like some phasing going on so..... they are going back will update this when i get them.
  16. The Gallery in Camden north west London. Does it have to be west London specifically?
  17. Glad to see you back in 22 years ago...

  19. Hi all, up for sale is a pretty rare beast. I bought this from this very forum a few years ago as an initial foray into Upright. Dan's original for sale thread here has some detailed info on the instrument. It's in exactly the same condition as when I bought it, as it did just one gig with me and has otherwise only been used at home for practice. It's strung B-G and has a piezo pickup in the bridge, with a single jack output on the side. As mentioned in the original FS thread, it's the most authentic sounding and feeling EUB I've ever come across, and was precisely the reason I bought it. The shoulder is detachable, and fits into a pocket within the gig bag. It weighs very little and so can easily be worn on your back with the shoulder straps on the gig bag. Only selling as I need the space! £1000 - Would definitely welcome collection on this as I wouldn't want to post it, but I could also meet somewhere reasonable for a contribution towards fuel.
  20. I bought Steve Harris signature strings and they don't feel right, I may contact rotosound if I can post them so they can check the authenticity.
  21. Ah yes, the Dave Swift owned one. Very nice basses, they were. I had the Jazz version with the FSR hand oil stained finish. They were based on the American Standard 2012, but had the 2008 pickups, which were better sounding. I shouldn't have sold mine earlier this year. It had a hugely focused modern punch, quite unlike most other Jazzes.
  22. I'm 22 years deep and am worse now than before I started... both as a general human and at playing bass.
  23. 1994 MIJ Ibanez SR 890 with Wilde (Bill Lawrence) PJ set £300 with pickups or £200 without pickups Moving on my Ibanez SR 890 to raise funds for a Jazz V. This bass has a lovely thin and fast neck, but I find it's a little too slim to be comfortable for my hands, which are more used to Fender dimensions. When I bought it the stock active pickups had some issues and the preamp was noisy (and on closer inspection, corroded) So I replaced the pickups and preamp with a Wilde PJ set, currently wired passive as 2 x volume + 1 x tone. The Wildes have a very clear and bright sound which I found to be a big improvement on the stock pickups. The sale will include the original active pickups, preamp, and knobs. The installation was a bit challenging for my limited skills, as the pickups are a tight fit to the routes, and my soldering is not the best.. it all works but might not be pretty! As you will see this wiring has left a spare hole for a pot. My plan was to hook up a G&L style low cut, but as it's a work in progress I'm selling it as a kind of "project" bass, which I hope the asking price reflects. If you had different pickups in mind I'm happy to keep the Wildes for something else and sell for £250. The knobs were custom ordered from Xentric Guitars - I have a second small pot which will be included in the sale. The neck is shimmed to get the action lower - it's good where it is, but the bass side of the bridge is down as low as it will go. General condition is very good - there is some light finish scratching and a few small dings / marks as you would expect on a 30+ year old instrument. Some fret wear but plenty of life left in the frets. Includes an Ibanez gig bag.

  24. Oh sweet. genuinely you should. They are both £2200 though, pit of my price range atm. Sold as new as the seller left them in the box. I went for the ash body maple neck but the rosewood fretboard and ash body played miles better in the hand and was so dynamic which confused me. The maple fretboard one didn’t play well imo. It was like I was fighting the neck. I may see in the store lol
