  2. The seller is also including a blank pickup cover, most likely the original one. Red flags all over really. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Q-gAAOSw1HpmWalu/s-l140.webp Not a Dimarzio either, what could it be?
  3. I have two PJBS basses that I have modified, the third is still stock. I love these basses! They really are fantastic and, even better with custom electronics, they can really come to life if the onboard pre isn't your vibe. There are many drop in solutions, you're in luck! I am running an EMG active PJ set in both basses. They are currently tied to a 3 band preamplifier but they are a little different. The first bass is using the included pan control, the second I retained the three way switch set up that we'd have on the stock PJBS. It might seem an odd choice, but it was down to having the first bass refinished and I was in the lucky position of having the existing holes resized to suit the preamplifer I wanted to install, whereas the second I have had to stick with the current lay out. I did use a tool to very carefully widen the hole that had the (small) switch in so that the final control pot could fit in. You could do the same of course. So, I have, Master volume, Pan, Bass, Mid & Treble. The pan is a 'zero drop' type, so there's no change in volume in the 50/50 position. Bass number two doesn't have the pan as mention, I bought a high quality three way and installed that too. The current set up for both has a pull-up switch on the master volume to bypass the preamplifer, an alternative to using a separate toggle, but, a good suggestion for utilising the small hole without drilling. On the subject of EMG, they do offer a wide range of preamplifer configurations including two and three band types, stacked controls and even 'bass and treble on one pot' (EMG EXB) that could be a useful too. https://www.emgpickups.com/bass.html?cat=324
  4. Check out the Aguilar DB599 on Youtube, it`s not super driven but adds a nice amount of "extra" if that makes sense.
  5. Hi All, I am collating a list of pop songs the have had contrasting versions recorded by the same artist (e.g. same band or artist, recording the same song but with a different genre / approach). An example is below - My Guy, Mary Wells, Motown + Funk versions. I'd appreciate any other suitable examples - thanks!
  6. Yeah same, I tried it on a whim and it's my fave. Worth a go for 50 sovs
  7. I've just been reading up about Capturing the sound of a device. Unless I'm mistaken it's just a snapshot of a single setting of the device you are capturing and how it reacts to whatever you happen to playing during the capture? A lot of sound processing devices will react quite differently depending on what the input signal is doing, whether it is how hard you are playing or whether you are playing single notes, simple or complex chords. I see a lot of the "how to" guides recommend playing 1st position chords (for guitar at least) as hard as possible, but surely that will only result in a capture for full chords played hard? And if you need multiple settings from your captured device you have to save each one individually? How quickly does each IR load? If for instance I need to switch to a different setting mid-song? How much processing power are we going to need in order to be able to model the action of each individual knob on the captured device?
  8. Selling my Helix LT, as I am not touring any more. This is a brand new unit, exchanged due a fault on the expression pedal. Comes with original box (if wanted), kettle cable and original gig bag (worn, but still good) I used it for about 1 month. There are 2 mini scratches on it, pointed on pictures Trades welcome, specially fender Pbass and Jbass. Thanks for reading. Nick
  9. Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 10T in VGC. Never abused, used for double bass (with a Rafferty HPF) most of the time. Comes with a custom gig bag. Lightweight and pack a punch. Eventually can deliver or meet along the way to my gigs. Drop me a line and we can arrange something.
  10. The lightest cab I ever owned. It is in good working condition, just a few scratches on the top and light rust on the metal corners as pictured. Comes with a battered dust cover. Eventually can deliver or meet along the way to my gigs. Drop me a line and we can arrange something.
  11. I had assumed the Spectracomp was all super clean! With the amount of compressors I have owned I'm amazed I still haven't tried it. I'll put it on the list.

  13. What's the weight of your subs, Bill? Feels like there's a gap in the market / interesting commercial opportunity for a high quality relatively lightweight sub, certainly over here in the UK? In the same way that Alex Claber made a big name with his Barefaced cabs. Bass Direct in Warwick could be an ideal UK distributor if this sounds interesting, as they regularly import from the USA.
  14. I think some of the spectracomp toneprints are fairly dirty, and you can make your own through the editor which has more tweakability than basically anything else out there
  15. And another If fact it reminded me of... https://www.theonion.com/what-the-hell-did-i-cram-in-my-anus-last-night-1819583702
  16. Plain or self raising? Powder or soda?
  17. After some youtube recommendations I've gone down a rabbit hole of dirty / driven compressors. Like the JHS Pulp & Peel or Fairfield Accountant and that sort of thing. They get really quite dirty and are the total opposite of transparent compression. Other than those 2, what else is there? I think I'd like to try something like that. The mini size of the Accountant would be perfect for me, but I'd like to know about alternatives. Cheap or expensive recommendations welcome.
  18. Very smooth sale to Stew. As smooth, in fact as the flatwound strings he bought! Excellent comms and prompt payment. A pleasure to deal with.

  20. "Ive taken up playing bass guitar, Mrs Saunders" "I can see you like to do it standing up with a strap on, Mr Gimlet" "Yib!Yib! Pmnff!Pmnff! Weep!Weep!"
  21. My wife got tickets to see Taylor Swift at Wembly on Saturday. We're nipping over on the train and getting a hotel for the night. Should be good! Feel like I need to book a metal gig to go to as well though 🤣
  22. Think I need to work on my query refinement process ...
  23. Any other clues? Colour? Simple controls or loads? Cloth grill or metal? Wheels? Speakers? 2x10 or something else? Was it linked with any particular genre or player? Did it appear in any adverts in a particular way?
