  1. Past hour
  2. I've got the NUX 5G for exactly this reason works brilliantly for me and is far more reliable than the Sony 2.4G it replaced. I've played some fairly big stages using it without any problems. If I wanted something better I'd be looking at a seriously pro system.
  3. I sold my G10s wireless and replaced it with a far cheaper Lekato unit for this reason. I don't need anything more advanced for the gigs I do.
  4. I'm sure the reasons for PMT's demise are complex, but I think one reason why some retailers are struggle is that they lose sight of the basics, i.e stocking products that people are keen to buy. If you've got goods that punters are enthusiastic about, that's more than half the battle. The stuff on the walls at these big retailers is tat at various price points. Needless to say, the bass stuff is usually even more depressing and threadbare than the guitars. The retailers have done "deals" with their suppliers, but in doing so throw the baby out with the bathwater because their stock ends up being not what potential customers are really after. Whether you're a retailer or a private individual selling from an advert on a forum like Basschat, if you've got something that people really want, someone will buy it. I've never had a problem selling a bass because I always buy really nice ones, regardless on whether they are expensive or more affordable models. If you have to convince people why they aught to want what you are selling then it's always going to be an uphill slog. Conversely, if you've got enticing goods to sell there will always be someone who comes forward with the money to buy them.
  5. My fretless jazz has a PF fretboard and I like it. When it arrived the wood did have a dry open texture feel to it. I applied a series of fine sand paper and waxed it and I'm very happy with the result.
  6. Hello everyone! I recently parted ways with my beloved Cort B5 Element (as i dont gig, nor have a band, and mostly use my 6 string to jam along to Youtube). I have been doing my own set ups for the past 10 years or so and, to me, that Cort was perfect in every way. Now: the buyer checked the intonation on the 12th fret of the G string and it was a bit flat, so he adjusted accordingly and got it to the right pitch. But now turns out the 24th fret is very flat. Admitedly, i had never checked the intonation there as i assumed that physically, if the bass was in tune at the nut and at the 12th fret, there was no reason why it would be any different at the 24th. Turns out it does happen, apparently. So i am turning to you in order to see why this is happening, and what options the buyer has to correct that little flaw. It only happens on that one string. Any ideas? Thank you in advance, everyone!
  7. Vgc with box, leads etc. Not enough juice for my valve preamp so upgrading to a Cioks. Asking half the new price. including post. £45
  8. That looks pretty interesting 👍
  9. Partly put up for sale in a fit of pique as it wasn't working with my pedal board power supply. Going to give this another go as it does sound lovely when properly powered. Withdrawing
  10. v4.12 is now on the online updater site and pandamidi site.
  11. I had a Precision with PF fretboard for a while, to me just felt like rosewood. I don`t like it when it`s light and streaky but that`s a visual preference, soundwise and playability wise no issues.
  12. I had a fretted 20th anniversary Stingray that had a really nice Pau Ferro fingerboard. I felt smooth and fast.
  13. Again Paul, you are selling a bass I’d love, but don’t need / can afford / can collect etc etc. Cracking basses these , and for this price a bargain too I reckon. Good luck with your sale mate.
  14. Yeah, i did see your post, but i had to give it a try. I got some nice sounds out of it for my use, but compare to the NUX it sounded bland and flat.
  15. I commissioned a nice HW C64 4001 many years ago with a nice slim neck. That was a great bass. You'll not regret removing that pickup cover for sure, makes it a much easier bass to play.
  16. Yeah and I was able to do that when I had the rack helix as the wireless and DI and stuff were also in the rack. I guess the floor units would work for me if I went to a bug-style wireless system instead of the Shure pedal-style. Super minor stuff, as Dood pointed out it's a great time to be a bass player and for me to be quibbling over something so incredibly minor. I just wish the Helix stuff was QC size so it could fit on a sensibly-sized board with a all of the other accoutrements that one simply couldn't possibly gig without like a wireless unit, DI/isolator, usb power socket ... 😁
  17. I think we need pics please!
  18. Just had one arrive today. The aim is to have this in a loop, so it won't be an issue, but can say in a quick play-around to test it I've changed the bank (the push function of this pot) every time I've turned the unit on or off... EDIT: Just saw the post below. This will help a lot with this issue. As I've only just unboxed I haven't had a chance to update the firmware yet.
  19. Glad to help, Norris ... It might be worth pointing out that she won't see Pete and Roger swanning around wearing White tights and Cod pieces. Probably professional Ballet dancers performing to a score based around the music of Quadrophenia. 👍 😁
  20. Ah I saw you guys, you were great! Really enjoyed it, I'm a big country music fan and thought your set was superb. Will definitely be there in December.
  21. I've got a pau ferro fretboard on a Harley Benton LP copy. Feels like rosewood, very similar pore structure, just a bit lighter in colour. It's absolutley not an issue.
  22. As others have said, I think for a fretted bass the difference between fingerboard woods is mostly a cosmetic thing. My home-made fretless has a Pau Ferro board, I ended up lacquering it because I prefer the feel of a lacquered fingerboard on a fretless, but it was fine before. It's a very hard, very dense wood. Not to the same extent as Ebony, but I was able to sand it so smooth I could see my face in it.
  23. All good inspiration, the creating (recreating?) community aspect especially. I say “recreating” as lots of shops used to do much of what you’re saying. But I think any good offline operation has to have a seamless online presence too. The online customer has to feel that they’re somehow part of that in person community experience. This is something Andertons have done particularly well imo, not to say there couldn’t be other ways of approaching it.
  24. Have android sorted their latency problem these days? The older devices were absolutely unusable for real time audio (which was a shame, as they were my goto device for pretty much everything else mobile related)
  25. TBH the situation regarding when stuff actually gets dispatched to the UK hasn't changed since the B-word.
