  1. Past hour
  2. Hopefully the bass amp on its own sounds good, I briefly had the Katana 100 guitar combo and got fed up with the very digital sounding tone and adjustment overload ! People rave about them but I’m too old school to faff around making presets on a laptop etc
  3. Subjective experience is totally valid. Mine is that unless it has at LEAST a 35", the B string lacks clarity/harmonics. I have also had 35" basses with a mediocre B however, which does suggest the scale length alone is not a guarantee.

  5. I might consider a trade, or exchange, for a different instruments This Olinto is a sensational instrument, maybe the best passive jazz 5 I've ever tried.. a very woody and organic voice.. it doesn't sound like the typical maple fretboard instrument.. it sounds very 60's.. it even has a sound that seems older than my 66 jazz!! As for the characteristics of the instrument: Olinto J5, Production year 2023 body: alder maple neck, birdseye maple fingerboard, custom Mas Hino hand wound pickups 34" scale Carbonetti Sunburst nitro finish hipshot hardware weight around 4kg original hard case available a spare white perloid pickguard Other pics and samples available on request price for a new one, around 5200$ plus shipping, plus taxes I set a trade value of 4800€, open to discuss depending on the offers no issues on the bass.. really near mint conditions

  7. Totally agree, find the right and best singer you can even if setlist has to change. Our set went from Alanis Morissette to Iron Maiden !! and lots in between
  8. Aaargh! Just missed it.
  9. That's 100% what I want. Like someone else here said, if it nails the sounds we love (don't care how it's achieved frankly), the ease of use of a single stomp, and has the accurate tracking and low latency... Well, that's the holy grail right? It will almost certainly outsell every other synth pedal released recently, combined.
  10. Stolen from these pages. Last one could be about basses, too.
  11. Reserved pending payment
  12. Without wishing to throw the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons I've found scale length not to be a factor with regards to decent sounding B strings. Design, build quality and neck pocket tightness seems to be more influential but I'm no expert on the science. I've tried Dingwalls in the past and think they sound good however 👍
  13. Doobie Brothers - 50th Anniversary Tour (with Michael McDonald) on Thursday at Birmingham BP Pulse Arena and Saturday at the London O2 Arena. 😎
  14. Just spotted that current jazz guitar fave Rosie Frater Taylor is the support for Lee Ritenour at Band on the Wall next Monday, and grabbed a ticket. Reckon Ritenour and his band will probably be OK as well.
  15. This is a great little bit of kit, I have the Apogee Duet too and I can't justify owning two interfaces. Discontinued now, but it works without issue on both my elderly Macbook Pro and my newer M1 Air running iOs 14 (with a USB-C adaptor). Takes a 1/4 inch bass/gtr or an xlr input as well as the built-in mic, so it's ideal for recording - I've used it for online teaching as it's a great way of easily getting my voice and bass into Zoom. A fair few scratches on it and the plastic on the channel indicator has a couple of small cracks, but I've just plugged it in and everything works as it should. £40 securely packed and tracked to mainland UK addresses.
  16. Yeah I’ll have it
  17. @hiram.k.hackenbacker is after one, drop him a message mate
  18. Good to hear. It would be interesting to hear a comparison with the MXR. This is why I'm so baffled that a 20+ year old pedal like the Bass Synth Wah can nail the tracking so well. Such a shame I don't like the synth sounds, I don't find them in the least usable. Can't say I'm crazy about the octave tone either but it was a small price to pay for the tracking accuracy a
  19. If you think about it, the MXR is effectively a combination of pedals as well, stuffed into a single pedal. The presets are effectively like snapshots on the helix - adjusting certain parameters at the press of a button. Admittedly, I use the presets on a Helix LT, with more footswitches available, which makes it easier to switch effects in and out. For most presets, I use a combination of stomp mode and snapshot mode, or sometimes both, using the control centre. I think it's worth persevering with the IMA synth presets, though; they are quite powerful and sound great, but they need tweaking to make them work for you and your particular performance preferences. Spending sometime setting up snapshots may be the solution you need. PS I do wish IMA had programmed some snapshots into his synth presets - just for a little more variety.
  20. Essentially brand new, unregistered warranty. Tried once but overkill for what I actually need. I can return to Thomann, but would anyone here like this?
  21. Had my SP1 almost 2 months, the B string is outstanding (just not quite as good as a 37), however the multiscale means the higher strings still have warmth and aren't at all 'pingy'. I still have my D-Roc for the heavier side of things.
  22. Thank you. Seems the design is not right, unsurprisingly. I looked at the circuit analysis. I'm new to this software but perhaps the report for one tone switch on, and one off is maybe showing both pickups being pulled through the cap. Ok. So I need to work out how to make them work independently. Learning is fun, for a while, then I'll ask for help.
  23. This reflects my limited experience with 5 string Fenders……….very hit and miss.
  24. I played the jazz version at New Kings Road and honestly didn’t understand the hype at all. I AB’d it with a real ‘63 and they were nothing alike.
  25. Gave it a proper razz in a band context last night - it's gud. Plenty poke, and the tone control being half way thing still applies - up at 10 it's a bit too much, and to be honest it's not quite the right frequencies to be cutting through, but that might have been because I was going through an ancient Behringer 4x10 with a knackered tweeter. Also, new knobs arrived, because it's worth it. Not worried a jot that they're gold tops, it's a wonky bass, innit?
