If all works well, depping isn’t for one-off gigs; if you do a good job people tend to ask you back next time which makes it more worthwhile putting in the initial effort. In my main depping job, I cover for a bassist whose side project clashes with some gigs, so it’s steady depping rather than one-off depping. Much better.

@NancyJohnson, I've got the real deal, with the boomerang inlays and all - I picked it up years ago in Australia, it still has the 'Rudy's Music NY' sticker on it with the original price of it. It's heavy, it's a pain to setup, but it's priceless, it sounds amazing and I can only imagine you could probably count how many are left in the world on 2 hands now...

I do really like what this does but unemployment isn’t compatible with having 5 preamp pedals so something’s got to go. This does a nice console breakup and the Pultech EQ thing via two toggle switches. Really high quality headphone amp too. Has a high pass filter too, which isn’t seen so often. In outstanding condition with original box. (More pictures to follow.)

I certainly admire you guys who do depping roles, I have been playing bass regularly in cover bands for over thirty years and the thought of depping fills me with dread. The thought of possibly learning thirty songs I have (as worse case scenario) never played before, for a one off gig would entail a lot of my time ( I don’t read music ), it’s tough enough learning a couple of new songs a month in the band I’m currently gigging with. Respect to you guys who do it.

Each of my last two orders from Thomann has had a mistake in what I received. Nothing serious, in each order there was a main 'big' item, and then a shopping list of a few smaller bits & bobs. in the first shipment I received a set of 010 electric guitar strings instead of the equivalent 010 acoustic strings I had ordered, and in the shipment I received today they missed out one of the two schaller switch tips I ordered. They put the first order's issue right by sending out the correct strings and I'm sure I'll get the missing switch tip in a week or so now I've sent an email. Have I just been unlucky or do they often make this kind of mistake these days?

Finally managed to get to Bowspeed. The shop is incredible and the staff wonderful. I was given the freedom to try as many bows as I liked from the cheapest to the £2000. I found this was a wonderful chance to trial them. I’m obviously rubbish (still) but even to my untutored and uncultured ears it was clear the difference in sounds and feel. After having my heart settled on a German made bow I tried a lighter pernambuco French bow by a maker called Ary which was (as you’d imagine) more expensive but after lots of backwards and forwards (literally) it was the one I chose after some guidance from the experts there. I had hoped to take it away on approval but this wasn’t a possibility so was given a substantial discount and purchased on the day. When I got home I didn’t want to play it and today I’ve been out playing jazz all afternoon (electric bass). But I’ve given it a 20 minute go and it really is wonderful. I know Bristol isn’t accessible for everyone but the opportunity and freedom to try so many bows is fantastic. My classical aspirations are to play for myself, not more than that, so I can’t ever see me needing an upgrade.

Finding a G&L L2000 Tribute Pickguard
LowEndMatt replied to LowEndMatt's topic in Accessories and Misc
If you still have it, that would be helpful. My goal is to collect all the available tracings I have and put together a repository on a few different bass sites, G&L forums, etc. so people have resources to leverage to save time! Everything helps!
