The 4.4mm plugs are called bantam plugs and are used in professional audio applications, for example, high density patch fields. I have only heard of them being used for headphones, using high impedance headphones. You can plug the 'phones directly into the jack field to check for a signal.

Is that the bit where you practice takeoff? Or the bit where you compete with siblings for a worm? 😛

I'd heard of this method, but how to effectively apply it in the case of a cab?

Yes it’s one of my favourite Fender colour schemes too. I’ve spent all afternoon noodling on it and I’m surprised how quickly I adjusted to the not so flat fingerboard. It’s actually quite comfortable. I can’t wait for next rehearsal.

The clear-out continues. I have two G & L's listed as well. Here is an excellent example of a Cort space 5. Two colour way for this model the green and this one a more natural look. Excellent build quality, a nice weight. Hardware is good with the string being secured at the 'headstockless end' by two allen bolts. They receive rave reviews and are really an excellent for when stage space is tight. Beautifully figured poplar cap. In 10/10 condition. Comes with fitted gig bag.

A buckle-less belt that holds up my trousers since I lost a bit of weight that doesn't scratch my basses. Don't want for much and simple things please these days! https://amzn.eu/d/98Wez6U -

Bought a second-hand PJB C8 from Bass Direct (sight unseen). Lovely little thing sonically, and a combo-sized footprint with grown-up performance. Opened the well-packed box, and Poof! A nasty stale smell (? Tobacco) emerged long before I managed to extricate the cab. I'm hoping it'll diffuse away in time, but otherwise, does anyone have any tips to deodorise a bass cab?

The common jack plug sizes for headphones were 1/4 inch (6.35mm) originally for hifi, and 3.5mm (USA 1/8 inch) for Walkmans and similar small gear. Both of these were tip/ring/sleeve (TRS) giving connections for left/right/common ground. A quick google search suggests that the 4.4mm connector appears to be mainly aimed at headphone connectors where the user needs to keep the left and right return conductors separate, so it is a TRRS, but connected differently to phones' 3.5mm mic and earphone headset TRRS. This may be why they went for a different size. Just guessing. David

Hypothetically, where would I place this Synth pedal in my signal chain?

Issuing an album with The Inevitable Teaspoons. This entails me learning how to mix tracks. Have dipped a toe in the water but will have to do a lot more next year to get things moving. Still got tracks to record, so it's not just down to me, but if I don't buck up my ideas then I will end up being the blocker to it being released, and I don't want that. Lack of skills is a blocker, but that can only be rectified with practice, so it's time to stop pr!ck!ng about and get on with it! Practice more at home would also probably be a good thing. To that end, I do have a small amp (Joyo Vibe Cube) on order which should be a lot more immediate, a small enough unit to have out in the living room all the time ready to just plug in and play, instead of the rigmarole of taking my TC head out of its bag, draping cables everywhere for power/bass/headphones/aux in, being headphones only unless I also dig out a cab etc.

Music goals & ambitions for 2026?

Mine is, like my fellow bandless bassists in this thread, to try and get a new band together/join an existing one. I'm not the most outgoing person, so throwing myself into new band situations is always something I need a bit of a mental run-up for. The other big one is to persevere with my ongoing efforts to learn to read sheet music properly. I'm definitely making progress with this (I started back in August with a copy of Joquin des Pres's book on sight-reading) but it's clearly going to be a multi-year undertaking as I'm starting as a 40 year old with no musical education whatsoever. -

GAS is a a terrible thing. So there I was all content after a really good year, then boom and 'must have ' bass punched a mighty hole in the budget. So, my two latest acquisitions need new homes. They are brand effectively and we all know the G & L story so this is it, want a new one?, you wont find any better. Check out my other listing for my SB-2 or take a look at this... Anywho. 3 TSB Jazz bass, the G & L version, spicier pickups than your average J type bass in this price range. Beautifully finished and in 10/10 condition. Vinyl wrapped plate easily removed . I have been after a nice example of this since seeing Ritchie Kotzens 'riot'. I finally pulled the trigger on this new one in the early summer and very pleased i am too or was until i fell for 'another' way more expensive J beast. As with the SB-2 i'd love to keep it but needs must. I love the bridges on these bad boys. Fully set up with fresh EB slinkies. Can ship at buyer expense, pickup from Rochester or exchange somewhere near to the M25.

If it is poly, then the recommended removal method is a heat gun and scraper. -
Congratulations! I love this toilet seat colour too and as I already wrote: They are my favourite Fender colours.
