  3. Bill is well informed on this sort of thing so I'd be reasonably confident that this is a 16ohm beta. If you check the magnet size that should tell you if it based on the Beta. They'll work Ok in the 30l cab but with that tuning they are going to have a pronounced peak in output at 120Hz, 2-3db extra wich will give a very old school bass sound. The betas also have a pronounced upper mid peak so this is going to make a sound in the classic smiley face/midrange suckout territory. If you want that artificial warmth tamed a bit you can tune the cab a bit lower. That would entail using longer ports than that specified. Without reliable specs though we are in the realm of guesswork. It could be that you have one of these
  4. I play predominantly 6 string basses these days and have several, including the GSR256B, which is basically the same as the current 206, but with a different preamp. I've had it since 2017 and gigged with it and it was great. Where I live is coastal and the weather varies a lot and the neck has been dead stable and I've had no issues with it. It was my first 6 string so I didn't want to spend a lot, and though I have a few more 'better' ones now it still gets used (it's on a stand beside my bed as I type this) and I have no trouble recommending it, or the 200 in your case. If you like the feel of the Ibanez, buy it, it will las you a long, long time. The whole 'Ibanez is "only for rock and metal"' is a lot of crap as I use mine for everything. Also ignore the people telling you you must have a Fender as they fell like plating a dining table compared to the Ibby. I have 5 other Soundgears, a BTB, an RB (1983 build) and an ATK and have owned and played Ibanez basses and guitars since 83, probably owning 50 or more in that time, out of more than 200 instruments in total and have no trouble in recommending them. Buy new from a store to get back up; second hand can be cheaper but it's also a bit of a risk unless you know what to look for and if you have a friend who's experienced get them, or better still, lean on the store to set it up. It will likely be fine out of the box, but a second set of eyes is good. Some small adjustments can make a world of difference to how it feels and plays. An amp isn't necessary these days and something like the Soniccake Pocket Master to be able to hear yourself, and a decent tuner. Here's mine, just so you know I actually have it, with some marks from actually using it out.
  5. ***UPDATE*** The bass was found. And delivered at Tom Petersson's address today! It appears to be undamaged.
  6. I had one on one Ric and it got in the way of playing with a plec.
  7. Monster!
  8. That is very cool.
  9. Hmmmm - I have one more bass one would fit!
  10. I've just bought a bigger car! 🙂
  11. I have read this a few times and must get back. Magnetic pickups can catch very low frequencies, and there sure is the fundamental seen (/heard/caught). But how much less, when the pickup is further away from the middle? Amplitude is smaller but that is true for harmonics, too. (It is not even possible to have the pickup in the middle because that middle is true only for one single note, or the pickup should move.) Piezo is another thing because it listens to the body or the bridge.
  12. Retired and happy arse shot!
  13. Hello Staggers, a bit off-topic and a (partly) non-bass related question but since you are a bluegrass man, have you ever heard of the Canadian ukulele player James Hill? He plays bluegrass too, among other things, and he is an amazingly good player. I had the pleasure to see him and his wife Anne Janelle (on cello and EUB and with a fine voice) a few times at the Shetland folk festival in 2018 and they were superb.
  14. Lovely. Always wanted one of these...
  15. Cheesy Bomb - The Runaways
  16. I was considering at one point about asking Rob to manufacture a 12-string neck for my Lull 5-string. Pretty certain the neck pocket would be wide enough to go from 5 to 12 and the two part bridge could be swapped out to accommodate the extra strings. Obviously it would just be something that could be changed back to stock if necessary. I am think the oversized NR Thunderbird body would work brilliantly.
  17. As far as I’m aware, Zero Mod will create and sell you one. You probably know that they are in the U.S. and charge a bunch for shipping (plus possible customs etc.). https://www.zero-mod.com/ric-rest-.html I am not aware of anybody in Europe who has one of these in their inventory. Maybe a modified 3D printer file? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2405790/comments I’m also looking for one and, as a last resort, might be able to sweet-talk my son into creating a file for a stretched version that would fit a V63/V64 series. Stay tooned.
  18. You cheddar you better you bet - Th'OO
  19. Hi all, My 'Brooksy's Bass Corner' channels and platforms hit 5 years old today. It's been a head-spinning journey, that's for sure. I have a celebratory Live Chat over on the YT channel tonight from 8pm and I'll be running it via Streamyard so if you want to come and chat all things bass (or has that now officially been changed to BEHS?) either by text, audio or video, you're more than welcome. All the best, Mike
