Christmas presents....What did Santa bring you?
knirirr replied to Mudpup's topic in General Discussion
Musically related: A guitar book, as I need more practice at this secondary instrument. A clip on light for my music stand, so I will be prepared for a difficult pit orchestra job in May. An album by this chap, which I haven't had chance to listen to yet due to travelling to visit relatives. I suspect there may be a "vintage" guitar strap along these lines still to come. In relation to that last picture I infer from his expression that Mr. Harris could be asking whether one is looking at his bird and would perhaps be interested in further discussion in the car park (which, from what I have read, would be in character). -

Bleat started following Ashdown RM112T Opinions?

Hello, I've been having a look around for potential lightweight bass cabs to use with my acoustic bass. I haven't decided on amplifier as of yet, but most likely I would be looking at around 500watts. Anyway, I discovered these Ashdown 112T cabs which I think may be a good option. They seem well priced, decent handling power and above all lightweight which has now become a priority. I would be looking to get 2 cabs so I would have a versatile, compact but capable rig to also use with electric bass if needed. Ashdown has never really been on my bass gear radar, so any user experience / opinions would be great. Is there anything else out there in the same price range as these worth having a look at ? I'm not interested in buying used cabs btw. Cheers 😎

All the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order

Maybe just be a bit more selective? Maybe take the festive season off completely for next year - lucrative though it may be? I've got no gigs until the end of January. Even bass players deserve a break...

Tonight and couldn’t feel less like doing it. Another on Hogmanay, which I’m totally disinterested in too. Maybe it’s time to hang up my gigging spurs?

More muddying of the waters- "The earliest version of Autumnglo was simply shaded brown. The middle clear areas on most of these old guitars have yellowed, but wasn't originally apparent. The next version was just Fireglo laid on rather heavily. The last version was back to that original brown, but in a satin finish, while the gloss version of that color was designated Walnut. So when someone says Autumnglo, you always have to ask WHICH Autumnglo?" (John Hall, posted on the official Rickenbacker forum February 2000). "There's so much confusion about Autumnglo and how it changed. In the early 50's it really was it's own dye but by the end it was just dark Fireglo" (John Hall, posted on the Rick Resource forum, November 2005). I have a similar conundrum to your self. For years I believed my '80 was Fireglo until getting hold of Paul Boyer's book. There is now a good chance that it's actually Autumnglo.

Shubb C3 capo. Currently in use working on "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" (I found it makes the fingering far easier) and soon to be enjoying various Smiths songs (don't want to tune my strings higher like Andy Rourke did). -
