What's the going rate for Stingrays nowadays?
Useless Eustace replied to Supernaut's topic in General Discussion
I’ve had this sat in its case for over 10 years. I would sell it, because I want something cheaper that I can leave out & play, rather than putting it back in the case every time. I don’t know how much to ask for it? I look at eBay & the prices vary massively. I’m not expert enough to know why. -
Good Lord! It fits and works perfectly. I haven't greased it, and once the Nylon one is made (Nylon 66 is self-lubricating in this sort of application) I'll swap it over.

For sale is my Fender Jazz Junior short scale Made in Japan in Sunburst It’s a 30 inch scale bass that sounds pretty much like a full scale to me. Selling as I have finally settled on medium scales Imported from Japan a few years and available to collect only in London. Of course happy for you to come and demo. There is a small hairline scratch or crack on the fretboard, I can't really tell but it doesn't run deep but for full transparency I have tried to capture it but doesn’t affect playability. Generally in good condition, never left the house This bass was listed by me a while ago, but has now been reverted back to stock Any questions please give me a shout Adam

I've met Adam when selling a cab, really down to earth, nice bloke. Loves talking bass. Never once mentioned how good or who he plays with, really down to earth.

I'm convinced a replacement is likely to fail again. I've realised the main role of the bush is to stop the inner shaft rotating by engaging with two slots in the outer shaft. My parts were a good fit, but lacked the outer engagement pins so reprinting them. I've tracked down my PTFE grease which is great for this sort of thing. An alternative would be a metal key 25mm long, 8.5 x 5mm section, with rounded ends, popped through the hole in the inner shaft. Perhaps with a plastic sleeve around it.

My blues/rock trio also used a pair of RCF EVOX 8 units for about 5 years and they were absolutely brilliant. Super easy and quick to set up, super easy and quick to pack down and, most importantly, sounded amazing. Everything went through - 2x vocal, guitar, bass, drums. Dispersion was incredible. Pubs and clubs, mainly, but also some small outdoor stuff. There is also the weird voodoo about not feeding back when placed at the back behind the mics. No idea how or why but we only ever had a feedback issue once and it was easily solved.

I can assure you I didn’t intend to do any of the above. I’ve been looking at eBay & Reverb & have no clue where mine sits. I’ve deleted the post. -

Me too. I have the AG-4P 1960s wind P bass with the humcancelling J set in my Lionel, that P pickup alone in a Jim Deacon shortie, and the MM type in my parts Pingray with their 2 band EQ. Superb pickups - but they do seem to be getting more and more expensive these days! I was thinking about a set of their 1960s J pickups for my Sandberg TT4 but then along came a set of the Nordy 50s P pickup in a J shell in the classifieds for a very sensible price so I'm trying them first. -

16. Attempts to sell without a Marketplace subscription If you have an item that you are interested in selling but do not yet have a subscription please avoid the following: ( a ) Offers or dropping hints outside the marketplace: Posts generally but in particular in the 'Wanted Items' forum must not offer, imply or allude to any other item being available for trade or sale. ( b ) Request an appraisal: Posts asking how much an instrument is worth are not permitted unless you are a Supporting Member and have access to the valuation forum. Otherwise, the best way to work out the value of an item is to look at 'completed listings' on popular sales sites like Reverb or Ebay. Alternatively search for similar gear on Basschat and contact a member who has sold the same item for advice. ( c ) Offers via PM only, this includes offers to trade. -

What's going on here with the finish between the pickup and bridge positions? Is it just some weird reflections in the paintwork, or … ? Mark -

Ah apologies if I’ve done wrong. I’ve not put a price up, because I’ve no idea what it’s worth. That’s what I’m trying to find out. I can delete if I’m out of line??? -
3P supply was mentioned in the specs.

You might get a slap on the wrist if you haven't registered to sell on BC (aplogise if you have) and you are putting pics and a price up; pay you to delete and register to sell it. -
At around 2010 there was a trend to use this black rubber paint in small goods like pens. It has a very annoying habit to become sticky. If it was exposed to sun (UV radiation), it became sticky very quickly. The same issue can be found in silicone components, if they are not post cured. This means that silicone has to be baked after mould a certain time to become stable. If those stand parts were painted, I can understand stickiness, but if the parts are breaking, there may be some bigger issue with the base material. Cheap plastics are cheap for a reason. Good quality materials (say some better PA with glass fibre) were hard to get during Covid. Companies had trouble getting even small amounts from manufacturers, because big buyers (automotive) were served first. I wouldn't be surprised if Hercules tried some cheaper material to keep up their production running. And hide the results with that terrible paint.

Hello, I'm parting ways with my beloved JV Jazz from 1983. Light as a feather weighing only 3.7 kg's. Sounds exactly like a 60's Jazz without breaking the bank. It being an over 40 year old bass, has had its scratches which don't impact the sound whatsoever. Action can go really low and the truss rod works perfectly. It's all original (i have the original knobs and strap buttons) It comes with brand new Hipshot tuners. The perfect alternative for a vintage Fender. Very comfortable to play. Let me know if you need more info or pictures. Pickup in NW10 London. Cheers

Yeah, officially known as carpet I think but that’s pretty insulting to proper carpet makers. I like it because you can stick things to it with Velcro (like wedges to tilt the cab towards your ears) and it is relatively easy to apply.

I've just been trying to find the song on YouTube. Looks like there isn't one yet. From what I can see he's essentially a Howard Jones for the smashed avocado and oat milk latte generation. I suppose with the right song he's got as good a chance as anybody. -

Indeed - I love the RCF Evox 8s that I have, just two boxes, no extra poles or anything, turn up and plonk them down, connect them up to the mixer, or if you got a JMix8, which is basic but functional, one to the other, plug the power in, jobs done, no poles etc. Plenty loud for a pub or basic outdoor stuff (including the bass and bass drum going through them). If you haven't got the one with the mixer in, get a basic digital mixer which are really cheap now, a XR18 (or even smaller), or even a flow 8. But if there are 6 of you and some instruments, something like an XR18 would give you a microphone each, all the instrument, then speakers to out, and 6 outputs to IEMs, or monitors, or the cheap P-16 personal IEM things (which are fantastic) for an individual mix. That is what I have done a few hundred gigs on and no problems (actually the evoxs, probably still under 100 gigs, but the mixer and everyhing way over).
