I bought this cab a few years ago with the intention of restoring it and possibly keeping it. I have two 408s already so in a moment of rational thought I decided to sell it as bought and as A project for the next owner to tackle. No sniffs on the sales thread so I decided to do it up. I stripped it, repaired the front lower edge with new wood, filled the dents and scars with 2 pack filler. Re tolexed with period correct fender silver face era. Thankfully the grills were without damage so they just got a good clean. Pictures are in reverse order.

This was on my board for a few years, never let me down but just fancied a change so I’ve got a boss chorus on the board now. The toneprint options make it a pretty versatile pedal, found myself mostly using the Duff McKagan toneprint. No original box for this unfortunately but will be packaged securely. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers

Here is a lovely condition Stagg EUB. I bought this a while back when I was going to start teaching but realised having a proper bass is easier (and what students expect). Works perfectly, comes in the case and with the rests. Couple of little gold marks on the side to indicate where the finger positions are. Other than that, it’s in excellent shape. Bass is in Bristol but I reckon I probably could send it. I have packaging materials and I reckon we’d find a courier that would do it. £299. (Cat for scale and not included in the deal)

I personly like a HPF at the very end of my chnage to get rid of all the sub freqs before they hit the power stage. But it is a personal thing, i know it's a boring answer but experiment with placement, first, last try it before and after various effects/drives if you have them.

It does seem about due (I do hate trying to read the stupid American date format). Ten months since the last one, ten months between the previous one and the last one, and earlier ones were more frequent than that.

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

There’s an Irish cheese called Ardrahan that totally reeks but tastes very good indeed. I used to work DSL broadband support here, and once had their office manager on the line for support. He was kind-of surprised when I told him how much I liked their cheese. 🧀 -
Thomann Rockabilly Bass – £375

Here we have for sale a lovely and very useful Thomann Rockabilly bass. This is in great condition. The bass is really hardwearing and would be an ideal starter instrument. (There is a funny story about how I came to own this, but we won't go into it.) The bass needs a set-up as the height on the bridge is fairly high. This shouldn't be a big job, but I wanted to mention it. This has been factored into the price. I don't know what the strings are on this bass. Assume they're the factory fitted ones. I can throw in a Thomann case with it for an additional £25. (The free one it came with had perished) Collection in Bristol only with a nice cup of tea thrown in as well.

More likely to be an issue with the precise measurements of the jack socket, I suspect. I've been caught like this before with a bass where the socket & connector were perhaps 0.5mm deeper than usual and the jack plug was perhaps 0.5mm shorter than usual ... just enough overall to prevent contact being made on that one particular jack/socket combination, but they both worked fine with everything else. 🙄

Yeah, it is, that’s a typo, but I was a OC2 before I swapped them over. In a live mix you can can’t tell the difference between the OC2 and the OC5 in vintage mode. So much so, that my OC2 went back on the cabinet because the OC5 has better output and just sounded tighter overall. - Today

I think it’s shaping up to be very not funny. the first tone was a classic and completely original, but this one seems to be just flat. They seem to be doing the rounds and getting a lot of air time
-
-
What strings did you use for the flats? Id be looking to do the same
-
Anyway. @Happy Jack what flipping pick up do you use with the Lekato? (their WS-50 bug is listed at 220kOhms input impedance, same as the Joyo I think). Cos I got ZILCH through the Joyo with Underwood and Shadow (piezo). (Didn't try Bassmax actually, maybe should. Although immaterial really, cos if it doesn't work with Underwood its no good for me upright-wise.) Weird, it just crackled, farted, hinted a few bits of tone then decided it wasn't playing. I switched between cable and Line 6 and Joyo repeatedly - it only happened with the Joyo. So there's something going on there with output and impedance and all that nonsense. Hmm ... just for the mystery solving I shoulda tried pickup-preamp-Joyo. That would confirm if it's just an impedance thing. Never mind - I bought it to replace Line6 on bass guitar and it works fine with that.
-
I prefer the feel of my fretless and it has a different pickup config to my fretted, so I can play it to sound as close as poss to a fretted version of that bass, but still add the occasional fretless flourish if the mood takes me/is appropriate.
-
Ah I see what I did. A lazy k slipped in there! 600Hz I meant. well spotted. doh. At my age I'm lucky if I can hear as high as 600Hz, let alone 600kHz.

If you were able to dial in a tone on the HX units this will be an absolute breeze. It’s very intuitive and the way the global eq is set up fine tuning the tone is even easier as you can do those nice broad eq change to enhance more subtly or specific notching/cutting to sort out problems in a flash. I just wish I could justify the cost and not feel bad about having my pedal board sitting gathering dust. TL:DR If you can program a HX Stomp you’ll be fine! 😀
