  1. Past hour
  2. So I’m interested in buying this fender jazz,it’s a 2000 standard USA,but the seller claims that it came from the factory with block inlays,I’ve looked though the catalogs for 2000-2001 and can’t find it,I’ve searched the serial number on the fender site but it’s returned “no data”,it looks totally legitimate, but any info you guys/girls have before I pull the trigger would be greatly appreciated,he’s asking £700 for it
  3. I think it depends on the local music scene. The culture in Leicester (the city where I live) is very much a case of everyone knowing someone who plays with someone else, so there’s a lot of overlapping band members. My brother also plays in bands based in and around another town about an hour away, so I benefit from the association and gigs out that way too. And because I also play acoustic guitar and sing, i’m quite a handy all-rounder for filling in at different gigs. So yeah I guess there’s a few local factors at play in my case. Doing the same regular depping jobs is good too cos you’re not having to learn new stuff constantly.
  4. 9 from 10, those writing that kind of guff can just about manage slip-on shoes. Place no faith in the set up skills of those who struggle with shoelaces 🤣 Just go ahead and set the intonation, remembering the bridge can sit at an angle; no law says it must remain 90 degrees to the strings 👍
  5. eBay is killing itself with these absolutely hidden fees while advertising 'free to sell' and simultaneously compelling people to use their 'simple delivery' system that forces people to wait in between 0700 and 1800 for collection which never happens... I've used eBay for 20 years and after their 'changes' this year I just cannot use them anymore, its prohibitively constrained as to how you can sell and it just doesnt suit me as a seller anymore. Foolish people in their lofty towers high above the 'shop floor' making arbitrary decision to put a few quid in their specific pockets that undermine the whole company... seems to be commonplace these days across the board.
  6. I managed to play one of the Mustangs when I was on holiday in the US last week and it plays very well. Setup wasn't quite to my liking but it felt well made. The neck had a brushed feel I've not encountered before. Not bad necessarily, just new to me. It sounded good through an Ampeg combo, and given I don't like Ampegs that must mean it sounds very very good! Its a slab body, but the there is more controlling round the edge than my JMJ Mustang, much more rounded. I would appreciate 70s contouring on a Mustang, but again its not huge minus. Overall it felt like a well made instrument. I'm not sure £1500 worth of well made, but you pay a premium for American labour. I recognise the comments about this line rehashing other lines and I think that is a valid criticism, especially for the Ps and Js. However, as far as Mustangs go, this is a nice slightly higher end addition to the current roster i.e. the Squier CV and Broncos (yes, I know its technically a Musicmaster), Vinteras and JMJs. I never liked the American Performer Mustangs with two pickups, so this feels like a good replacement to me. It'll be the faded Dakota red for me please... when I have money... which probably be never in this economy...
  7. Got this recently - absolutely spot on. Great quality as usual. https://www.andertons.co.uk/hercules-2in1-tablet--phone-floor-stand/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20740064143&gbraid=0AAAAADujoUqDMum_mzWWbFlnWdtxGda6u&gclid=CjwKCAjw3tzHBhBREiwAlMJoUvUOcIh_MkgIKbPvb7jc0_NohDNpCNIwj6fifLeppqllB1BGcqJAXBoCwy0QAvD_BwE
  8. Thanks for the input! Update: I did it and it all worked fine. Will update the thread if anything happens but all ok so far.
  9. Picked this up today. First impressions are very positive. I've never had a stingray-esque bass but to me this sounds big and punchy as one would expect. Set up wasn't bad out of the box, although needed to raise the g-string side of the pickup as was set too low and thus unequal volume across the strings. Easily sorted. Nut feels cut slightly high but I'm being picky - overall it plays very nicely. Enjoy the finish even more than I expected. It's not heavy and generally feels comfortable and balanced. Impressed. Looking forward to using it at a rehearsal tomorrow.
  10. Wildcard is the Bass Centre Bruce Thomas Profile Bass. They get a lot of love around here.
  11. Cheers! Yeah, if I were still gigging regularly, I'd be clinging on to this amp. But I'll be keeping my Little B*ast*rd 30 for recording - probably my joint favourite with the CTM-100! - so I can't really justify keeping both of them.
  12. Good looking bass. What's a "TV Jones" pickup?
  13. Ricky Phillips plays an active Imola that Italia designed for him.
  14. Interesting responses. I need a producer, script writer, editor, more exploding helicopters, click-bait titles, dancing girls, an act, an accent, a side-kick, lots of exciting, never before heard news, a ton of great content in one video, but nothing longer than the attention span of a gnat. But also none of those things. Got it 😂🤣😂😂🤣

  16. Ah yes, the Iceland Air Air Hostesses Netball Team.
  17. Boracho custom model is too expensive; I built my own. American custom neck, TV Jones pickup.
  18. I think you are correct in that your band is too loud. I gigged a Rumble 500 in quite large pubs with a loud drummer and 2 Marshall valve numpties and it was always loud enough.
  19. Today
  20. I'm told @Frank Blank has the personal telephone numbers of a group who work for Icelandic Air, if that's any use?
  21. If you know of one of the original CV P basses for sale I’d go for that first. The difference will be in the feel and finish but I’ve not seen any bad feedback on those elements of the CV.
  22. try tilting your amp backwards so the speakers point closer to your head
  23. As in a 6 string strat?????? If so, I have never made a guitar and not a bass so I would need to get a template for it. It would depend on what finish, if you provided the body blank etc. drop me a WhatsApp 07554 4323314 and we can chat but it at the risk of doing my own legs and pocket lol, it be may cheaper to buy a Chinese Paulowenia pre-cut strat body like this; https://ebay.us/m/I1yGHE Then I finish it for you with a combination of handed sanded oil and wax or nitro paint and/or nitro clearcoat or poly. The only thing with this option is you will not be able to pick the wood blank or choose different pickup routes. Likewise folks, if you just need a body, I’m not precious about putting the whole thing together if that’s all you need. I am already building some basses bodies for several members who are waiting for graphite necks and completely open to just doing the body if you are able to do the rest yourself.
  24. Players like Ray Brown would rarely play a scale up and down I guess but his book has some great scale exercises with intervals that are really musical.
  25. Neanderthal - Demolition Hammer
  26. I think in real life they’re probably all funny and engaging, like all bass players. Alas, the characters they’ve created are awful…
