Get a 2 x 12 4ohm cab and it will be all you need I ran my ABM600 into an Ampeg SVT212AV cab and it was glorious Ideally your single 8 ohm cab needs to be 400w or minimum 300w but a 4ohm cab rated to 600w would be all you need

Our twice yearly date at the Ringwood Meeting House. They’ve been hugely supportive of the Otis Jay Blues Band for the last three years and we have rewarded them with four different line-ups in the past four visits! Cecilia our new singer went down a storm with 53 paying customers - a reasonable haul and very appreciative. Rig: Sandberg VM4, GK MB200, BF One10, waterproof shoes.

Bleat started following Bass amp for acoustic band setups
-
Hi all, After a receiving a recent offer to join a full on rock covers band, sadly all the mileage involved in just getting to and from rehearsals never mind to all the gigs after that is just not feasable for me, neither energy wise nor fuel cost wise, however this has helped me to re-focus on what I would like to do as a bass player. I have always wanted to try a more acoustic approach in a small rock/pop covers band, so am currently looking to get something together more locally, with potential for live gigs. I am looking at acoustic guitar, vocals, percussion, and me on electro acoustic bass to give an idea. The rig I have is perfect for loud rock bands, but just way too much in power and weight for this sort of thing so have been looking around at getting a smaller, more suitable setup. As I have little to no experience in this side of live music, I'm really not sure what would be ideal size/ power wise for small/medium maybe some outside gigs potentially. Obviously I will be able to use less power and to give an idea I have been considering A TC BQ250 plus a couple of 2x8 cabs as the price is in the ball park of what I'm working with financially, the compact size and light weight looks good, however I'm not sure if it will really cover all potential future needs? There can be only one amp setup and really needs top be the right one. Any suggestions from those experienced or currently playing in acoustic bands for me to consider would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, James.

I often take the 2x10 and amp, only used the full 4x10 and 2x10 a few times... But I have invested in a decent trolley! But my cabs are Markbass - the 4x10 is a relatively reasonable 25kg.

His shop was where MyDentist is now. He sold Akai VHS machines and rented out tapes - remember Jock getting Cannibal Holocaust and I Spit On Your Grave from there, my dad had no idea of the content! He only had the shop for a couple of years before getting sick of it, probably by beginning of '83. And the Private Shop was where the Caspian is now - had a black front. And it moved to Brook Street later. It's probably a barber's now...

Stripped and re-waxed the body… cleaned all the hardware…. The neck has come up lovely…. Ibanez definitely put the money into the neck materials, because the body is a right lump of low grade mahogany. Anyway, it’s taking shape

This amazing emulation of the acoustic control corporation 360 preamplifier with variamp and built in fuzz is up for grabs. Hand made by the renowned JC Maillet and commissioned and imported by myself at great cost. I have used the 360+ for studio recordings, gigs, rehearsals and at home, it has never dissapointed. The preamp sounds fantastic and the fuzz section is the best I have used. I have owned this pedal for a good few years from new, as can be seen it's in pristine condition. Specially sourced UK power supply also included. Will happily run from other sources with the right leads (I used it with a trex chameleon). Fully detailed printed instruction manual also included. Only available as I have more preamplifiers than I can use. Try out/collection always welcome, or UK insured postage for £15.00

A fairly long trip to Bridlington in god awful storm weather last night for Glam Viva. A great venue, the Black Lion in the old town, first visit for us. A great venue with a small theatre type arrangement. Unfortunately the weather had put off a fair few punters so it was only about half full, fortunately those that braved the onslaught were up for it and danced the night away. Only negative of the night was the outside door that let water through due the the storm and wet my clothes through in the changing room so had to drive home in 70s glam wear……

Private wedding in Llangollen town hall. Big boomy space, but we had a big pa. all fine from that pov…. but….my amp / cab died after just as we were about to start the first set. i was using my Peavey mini max 500 into my BF retro 2x10. the power light on the amp briefly went from blue to red, then i smelt something burning…: I was literally running both gain and master vol at a little over 1/4 with all EQ flat, so nothing loud at all. also using keeley compressor and boss oc 2, but that wasn’t being used at that point so I can’t see that I’ve overdriven the preamp or anything…. the amp still powers up etc but no sound. A bit confused really…. 2 gigs next week so may be looking to buy an amp or cab, depending on what I find later…. i just turned it all off and as i was in the pa via my sans amp, i just used a powered wedge for on stage monitoring to get though the gig…. ive brought it all home so im shortly going to try some fault finding…. I have a TE head and cab here also so can try peavey into TE cab and TE amp into BF cab to try and workout what’s broken. Hassle I don’t need.

the purists are moaning that it isn't the correct neck shape but I love mine and it does sound really good. I love the neck shape too I changed the pickups in 2 of the others and the volume pot (the original is 500k and it should be nearer 250k and they both sound much more May like My forth one is signed by Brian and hangs on the wall
