  1. Past hour
  2. Wow, that’s quite a beauty, can I ask how they sound
  3. Here we have a red PJB Double Four with a proper earthed psu. It took a bash at some point - you can see the roll bars did their job but they’re both bent, one more than the other. It’s probably easy enough to straighten them but I’d prefer to sell with the damage fully visible. Still rock solid. Also the clip light doesn’t work. Otherwise all working as it should and amazing bass tones out of such a small box. Hopefully I’ve priced it fairly to reflect the condition. Meet-up in London/Margate ideal, but can hunt for a box and price shipping.
  4. Two mighty fine basses on the loggia settee: Serek Midwestern and Wilcock Mullarkey.
  5. Great way to describe him ez 😁 and yes, it’s the timing that keeps catching me out, I kinda jumped straight in but I think I need to listen to it a lot more first, thanks 🙏
  6. Your best bet is to take some pictures and post them in the EUB and Double Bass Forum. That's where people who might be able to advise you are likely to be found.
  7. Now £140 inc. UK delivery
  8. It's a superb example of Carol Kaye's bass of choice from 2002. These don't come up too often. Condition is remarkable for the age. It's even got the plastic film on the cavity covers. It's Korean-built and we know they know how to do neck-through properly. The build quality is stunning. The neck profile is what I'd call slim modern J. Controls are: Vol, Blend, Treble, Bass. It's been deep cleaned and set up beautifully (med/low) with D'Addario EXL170BT strings. that's a balanced tension set. As per all my rosewood board instruments, it's been treated with Montypresso. Frets are level and polished to 7000 grit. All electronics have been checked and all pots cleaned. Truss rod is perfect. It's 4.4kg. I've got proper packaging and am happy to ship insured at buyers expense, which will be about £30.
  9. It’s Pino, innit, it was never going to be straightforward; he’s a sneaky bugger. Good luck in your endeavour.
  10. Fender Made in Japan Short Scale Jazz Bass, Piano Black. Awesome short scale bass, only selling to reduce number of basses and unfortunately not getting much use. I can't see any scratches etc on it. Imported from Japan in September 2024, around £850 new including import duties. Can include the Fender gig bag it shipped with. Price now dropped to £650. Weight is 3350g. Although collection preferred, I can ship. If so, will send UPS insured with an extra cost of £35. Will need to purchase a proper bass guitar shipping box and packing so will mean shipping is somewhat delayed. Description from original seller below: The Made in Japan Junior Collection Jazz Bass features a 30" scale fingerboard with traditional Fender looks, The 30" scale fretboard makes it an excellent choice for entry-level players and younger players who are just starting out. The 30" scale fingerboard makes it easier to play chords and reduces the burden on the fingers when pressing strings, The compact body, scaled down to approximately 94%, and the new body cavity design make it lighter, providing greater playability. 11. This is a mk1 Digitone in very good condition with original psu, no box. Loaded with a bunch of additional presets, and I have a print-out of the manual and cheat sheet. The only issue with it is that the volume encoder is a bit wobbly. Apparently this is quite common with some of the older Elektron boxes, looking at the Elektronauts forum, and it does not affect the function. Still, I’m listing it with a decent discount just in case it needed seeing to down the line. Meet-up preferred in London/Margate but can ship Parcelforce 24.
  12. Bumping this to note that although collection preferred, I can ship. If so, will send DHL insured with an extra cost of £35. Will need to purchase a proper bass guitar shipping box and packing so will mean shipping is somewhat delayed.
  13. Actually I think that's why it's easier to come to double bass if you're not an electric bass player first. They are radically different instruments.
  14. Must resist! That looks like a beautiful one too. GLWTS.
  15. I can't answer for the noise you're experiencing, but regarding the Meatbox itself, I have always found it behaves differently to a regular octave pedal. I have always used mine on a clean parallel signal that is split from my compressor and goes straight to a DI and to FOH. Never in line with my amp or other effects. The intent behind the Meatbox, or at least the meta that Juan Alderete popularised, is to give you that ultra low bass extension that pushes the subs in a venue. Emulating the range of a 808 synth. The eq controls, as far as I recall by memory, were around 30Hz and 60Hz (I could be wrong), which will make any amp sweat a little if you are pushing them. This is essentially killing all your headroom too. Maybe the perceived volume drop is based around the frequencies that are boosted when the pedal is engaged. Not sure if you have access to a second amp or a PA system, but if you can split the signal into two separate rigs, you will really be able to balance your main sound and the sub accordingly.
  16. I really am rather fond of this.
  17. Hi all We Have been left a double bass when a friend passed away. It is in need of some serious repair work but I know little about where to take it or indeed if it’s worth repairing. We think it’s either German or French and Victorian. Is there anyone who could advise us?
  18. I’m attempting Gravity John Mayer, it’s a tricky little one isn’t it
  19. May II seek a little knowledge from seasoned DOD Meatbox users please. I just bought a brand new DOD Meatbox. First thing I do is match the volume & timbre of the affected signal (effect on), to that of the unaffected clean tone (effect off). Playing through a Trace AH350SMX I've had new since the early 1990's (onboard effects off / flat). Octave & Sub knobs fully CCW, Output at 2pm, Low at 3:30pm. Volume match exactly, timbre not quite but pretty good. Now to add some octave down, I bring up the Octave knob to 2pm, the octave down is heard, but the overall output volume (perceived) goes DOWN! Quite a BIT! As though the octave sucks the original signal. Is that normal? Is it the aim? Does the Output knob lset the output volume no-matter-what (regardless of other controls) thereby sucking clean tone when Octave is added? (perhaps for speaker-safety?). Some volume returns if I then bring up Sub to midday, but I don't want to on this occasion. I also find it a bit noisy. The Trace has a little hum, but significanly more with the Meatbox (which I'm powering from a Strymon Ojai with no other pedals). What's going on? Thanks
  20. I was going to make this point too. I used to have an old Park valve head which was designed for bass but was bought off me by a guitarist who reckoned it was the beat amp he'd ever played though. I assume this is why the original Fender Bassman amps are so popular with guitarists too. GLWTS
