For myself I’ve taken similar action, albeit the opposite, I’ve quit my gigging bands as just find it too much now, and am going to concentrate on doing less intense things which I enjoy and sitting back and enjoying life at a slower pace.

Is there any more detail about how V2 is able to capture compressors? Kean to try it out when I get chance, there's a bunch of Cali 76 captures, but can't get my head around how it may work??

The thing is, with music or any art form or, indeed, loads of other stuff, there are broadly two ways to measure them - popularity / utility and 'quality'. Sometimes the first is a function of the second, but not very often. It's quite difficult to keep these two separate and attempt to be objective about it. It's a good mental exercise and stops you turnig into either a pub bore or an intolerant tw*t but it also makes for potentially dry conversations or exchanges of views. So in the spirit of objectivity... Morrisey is not 'rubbish' in either of the senses - he has written good songs and can hold a tune and his music has been very popular. Wetherspoon's food: no idea, only ever been in one of thier pubs once and the beer was cheap but the floor was sticky. Not for me, Clive, but people want somewhere to meet and have a drink and some food and we can't always be making those kinds of decisions based on our agreement or otherwise with famous owners. I am rarely in England and when I am there are lots of excellent pubs I can go to and get beer I like in a pleasant atmosphere, which I accept I have to pay more for. Ian Brown can't sing but I still enjoy his vocal delivery, partly because I can sing along to it and not sound awful! Liam G can't sing and I don't like thier music but I understand they are popular. Coldplay I just don't get but I think they are largely music for people who don't like music and they perform a valuable function of making a lot of people feel happy. If you want to find genuine total rubbish you just need to put a random word into Spotify song search and have a listen. Plenty of qualitatively awful music with almost no listens. It gives people somethign to do and an outlet to make them feel better and it hurts noone sitting there so it is harmless, but it is absolute twaddle. -

This is something I posted, a few days ago, on a thread about Weatherspoons. The person in the video loves Weatherspoons but refuses to eat there. “Oddly enough, the best cod and chips I have ever had was in a Weatherspoons… in Skegness (not on holiday, we were visiting friends). I only order cod when there is nothing else on the menu that I can stand to put in my mouth. I am a very fussy eater. I have had to order cod too many times, both in very cheap and very expensive places. It has always, at best and without exception, been dry/woolly. But tasteless enough for me to eat. So, in that Weatherspoons, about four years ago, I wasn’t expecting much. It was bloomin’ lovely! I came to the conclusion that it tasted so fresh because we were so close to the sea. Then, last year, we ended up in the Weatherspoons in Carmarthen (nearer to where we actually live), and again cod was the only thing I could eat but I wasn’t holding out much hope for lightening to strike twice, but blimey it did! It was absolutely spot on!” I only discovered that the first place was a Weatherspoons as we were leaving. I think I have been in a Weatherspoons a total of four times, the first two being in Nuneaton. -
I am sure that it would be the same comparing the JC to my Guild Starfire. The bridge is miles from the bottom edge to accommodate the fancy tailpiece. I have to use full scale strings on it (actually a bonus in terms of choice and cost). The JC/original Gibson design has moved the bridge back closer to the bottom edge. I suspect that Gibson just wanted to use the same bodies for the experimental long scale version. No tooling changes, etc.

I don't know. I suppose it depends on how like the action of your keys? Traditionally an acoustic piano would have a fully weighted action, and organ no weights. Synths would be either the same as an organ or semi weighted, but then it would also depend on what each player was used to. In my very limited experience with my very limited technical ability the action of the keyboard can completely change how I play.

Sounds like a plan. At least you are still playing in a band and that's where the fun is. Dave -
Vernie Robbins’ bass playing on "Groove Me" and other Malaco hits like Jean Knight’s "Mr. Big Stuff" helped define the funky, soulful sound of the era. King Floyd - Groove Me

We all intend to keep going. Hopefully, this will just be a temporary break.

Yeah I think that compared to Bass Guitar gear it is more worthwhile having the specialist tool for the job with keyboards. My standard Bass guitar and equipment could cover any genre (apart from perhaps some niche exceptions like wanting a fretless sound, or a high C string), but you couldn't get a grand Piano to sound like a Minimoog or vice versa and all the nuance between a home piano/synth/stage piano/workstation keyboard mean that it could be worthwhile having them all.

I might be tempted to buy one of those, if they did a re-release but possibly not at nearly £4K. That looks like a proper shortie!

For sale £170 posted, or collection, or local Brighton meet up. It's a ten watt amp into 8 ohms , or a pre-amp to feed into a power amp, or into an active speaker, or it can be a DI. It's also a headphone amp and you can mix your bass signal with an auxiliary line input. You can switch bewen passive and active inputs and there's a built-in compressor, plus 5-band EQ. It will also run off two 9-volt batteries, if you're so inclined. It might do other things too but I can't recall what they are. In jolly good condtion, having been used only at home. However, as you can see in the underside photo the little rubber feet are starting to move around a little. Included are the original PJB 18-volt power supply, the original carry-case, and the original owner's manual, as well as the Bass Buddy itself.

Just in case anybody is interested, I've designed and printed a complete port and flange for my 8" speaker. Its the correct length, 87mm, and is 64mm internal diameter and fits a 68mm hole. It has three M3 screw holes and the actual flange is sized so you can put M3 T-Nuts behind it and so they don't overlap the hole. It has a gasket groove on the back , so you can put 2mm x 10mm foam around the back of the flange, and when you tighten the screws up, it sits flush to the baffle board, but you now have a better seal. Especially useful if you port hole is a bit rough. It has simple text on the front, but I change that easily. I can print them in a variety of colours, but red is very popular at the moment as I still have 27 reels to go through I'll print them for free, I'll include some foam for the gasket, just pay for postage and a appropriate donation to the North West Air Ambulance of whatever you want to pay. I'd prefer it to be more than 1p but I won't check. I can adjust most things quite quickly and easily so if you wanted your name on them, or a different size or whatever just ask. Different colours can be done but only if I have those colours sitting on the shelf. Thanks Rob

I guess Rickenbacker lost the blueprints of these: Now that's a proper shortscale 4001. The proportions are slightly weird, but it's very cool.

Set of rack mount bars for a GK RB amp. I haven’t owned a GK amp for several years but they would have come off of either a 1001RB II or a 700RB III as I owned both. The bars are complete with all parts including screws. No trades thanks. Price includes shipping to locations within the UK. I took the photos myself and I am blind, so my apologies if they look like they were taken by a drunk person.
