What do you do when your music career is over?
LowB_FTW replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
When I read the title of this thread, then read the content of the OP, I thought it was @NancyJohnson's career that was over. I thought you'd been served legal papers, not served by someone at a till/counter. 😂 It wasn't until reading the replies I understood the OP a little better. I have nothing to add to the thread aside from the above. Have a great evening everyone. Mark -

As far as I know this is a original example. My knowledge is limited, so please feel free to correct me if necessary. (Astrays & thumb rest probably not) It weighs in at 11lb which is too much now in my advancing years but it sounds immense and is a pleasure to play with the 'A' neck if that floats your boat. Check out the photos,. I can ship in a hard case including UK postage. Trades considered.

Basses owned by Randy Coven (Aria Pro II, Pavel, etc.)
Daniel A. replied to Alberto Rigoni's topic in Bass Guitars
I used to take lessons from Randy back in the mid-80’s on Ling Island, NY. He had the Explorer-style Fodera pictured above , but mostly played a 60’s purple-finished Fender Jazz bass. He was an amazing player. I think all the other basses shown and mentioned came a bit later.- 15 replies

I did an acoustic open mic with a band I’ve said I’ll dep for. I’ve practiced with them 3 or 4 times, but last night was the 1st performance. As it was an acoustic night, I took the fretless - still electric but maybe more the vibe than the Rick, G&L L2000, or headless would have been. It went pretty well. The BL (Matt Guntrip) has several albums out. We did a couple of his newest songs. I couldn’t hear myself singing so have no idea if I was in tune , but I could hear the bass (it was in tune 😁). I’ve another gig with them in June at a local festival.

I disagree. I saw the Stone Roses at Heaton Park in 2012 and they had the balloted area then. Although I didn't get into the front bit I was still plenty close enough. Dividing the front area off with another barrier was a smart move to stop anyone getting crushed up front. Even more so for Oasis. The media will write about anything to give it the doom angle. My tuppence worth anyway...

I have a China made version of this bass, and it's absolutely awesome. Super lightweight - yet the sound is immense. Did some studio recording with mine just the other day, and the sound engineer was mightily impressed with the tone. Easy on the shoulders for those long gigs, great sound, slim easy neck, and with a very different look. Someone needs to buy this bass now! 😀

Yeah, I quite like them. Not into relics in general but these are quite cool in their way. I expect the novelty would wear off pretty quickly.

It's a thing. I did it. I have big hands and don't get on with the tight string bunching at the nut of a J neck, but I do like the J sound. It's great. When my fretless P neck gets here it will become a fretless P neck on a J body. I also, unlike the advertiser, have a bag or suitcase to hand in. It's a gator hardcase.

For almost every Precision with a Jazz neck, there is one of these unloved puppies looking for a home.

https://www.bassic.de/kleinanzeigen/fender-player-2-jazz-body-mit-player-2-precision-hals.61918/ Came across this in the bassic.de small ads - a jazz body with a precision neck. Now I’ve often come across precisions with jazz necks - people want P thump with a slimmer neck, of course - but never seen this combination before. is this a thing, or just someone selling off the spare parts from a precision body/jazz neck transplant as a complete bass? Google’s translation of the ad below, FYI. ‘Fender Player 2 Jazz Bass Body with Fender Precision Neck . The neck is from a Fender Player 2 Preci and has a saddle width of 41.3 mm. Unfortunately, I no longer have a bag or suitcase to hand in. There is a second pickguard included. Condition is very good would even say almost like new. Has never seen a stage. Had the bass only once in the rehearsal room to test. But jazz sound is unfortunately not for me.’
