  3. 2002 Paul Reed Smith Electric Bass 4. 34” scale fret less, with black furniture including the PRS bridge. Body is Alder and neck is rock Maple with a Rosewood 10” radius fret board and 1 11/16 nut width and 21 fret lines. It has new 20-1 GB707 Black Hipshot tuners (Hipshot provided this exact tuner to PRS when new) including a GB7D-tuner. Currently strung with GHS nylon wound 50-105 strings and will come with a new set as well. It has its original PRS 18v pre-amp with vol-vol-tone and IO switch to play passive. The amp and high inductance passive pick ups were designed by Paul himself in conjunction with LR Baggs. Also has Schaller strap locks Fitted. I bought this basic black bass in 2006 from a music shop in Colorado. I fully intended to de-fret it when I bought it and booked a space on HG Thor’s waiting list to have the work completed. In the meantime I played it a few times but only to keep it tuned and in intonation. Having checked with Stevensville, there were no EB4s made in standard stock with a fretless neck (although there may have been 1or two private stock 4string basses made with a fretless neck, to commission). This makes this PRS a unique. When my place came up in 2009 the neck was sent to Thor’s guitar lab in the US. If you are not aware of his work he produces the Epoxy fretless fretboards used by Jaco Pastorius and many other bass players worldwide. My option for the work was to have the frets removed and replaced by a subtly lighter wood to illustrate the fret lines. His propriety epoxy board covering and with a Matte finish rather than a high gloss. Upon the necks return several months later I refitted the re-worked nut and replaced the neck with its new tuners and set it up with a nice low action. With fresh (2x9v PP3) batteries this bass will cut through any bands tone using either solid state or valve driven amps. It is beautifully balanced plays much like a Jazz bass but with a P-bass neck. Happy to meet 1/2way or you can collect and try first. £1500.
  4. Is this a new hiss? you said you had it serviced, when did you notice the hiss?
  5. So you are saying I shouldn't wear my stilettos this year?
  6. maybe.......lol Yeah he used an old fender neck that was hanging around,I saw him play it on one of the last verrsions of radar love from this year-he can get an awesome sound from the fender half ! Its on you tube should you wish to peruse......
  7. I do play with experienced players, just not in this band. Any idea where i can find another band that will want me?
  8. Yes!
  9. Yes... my confidence in singing BVs is getting better. With the singer shoving his mike in my face last Sunday, I didn't have any choice!
  10. So that's a Fendelectro?
  11. Hi everyone! Selling my John East J Retro 01 Deluxe preamp as it has been replaced and I no longer need it! It’s missing a knob but is still in working order. Looking for £100 all in. Happy to ship within the UK. Any questions let me know!
  12. Hi everyone, Selling my Aguilar AG 5J-60 Jazz Bass pickups. Used in 1 bass and only replaced as I was wanting to try a different sound! Looking for £100 all in. Based in NW London, happy to ship within the UK. Any questions feel free to DM me!
  13. Found this video of Tom Driessler playing with Yoni Mayraz and I've been trying to work out what strings he's got on this Lakland. To my ears they sound like flat but I cant get a good look at the headstock to see if there is any coloured silk. In other recent videos it looks like the strings don't have silk on the ends, but I'm not sure I know of any flats that don't have silks. To my ears they sound bright like TI flats but I think I would be able to tell if the silks were bright red. Anyone got any ideas?
  14. Jack-just noticed this post from awhile ago,it reminded me of this- "Rinus Gerritsen was the first Dutch pop musician to own a Danelectro bass guitar. He used this guitar until it was stolen during Golden Earring's American tour in 1977, after which his father made him a new one"......Some Dad eh?
  15. Yeah man definitely. It was decent though, enough room onstage and we had a few dancers. And getting a round in didn’t break the bank either. Lots of the right boxes ticked 👍
  16. Walk and find some experienced players to work with, time is very precious, don’t waste it.
  17. My guess, without knowing full details is that is exactly what you get when designing by committee. You say 'did the rounds', I'm assuming more than one person was involved in the decision making. I've been in similar situations, the people who don't want to change dig their heels in and what results is a massive compromise. This is why I would always advocate playing in a band with a leader with vision, that you trust and who calls the shots. They may ask opinions and may/may not take them into consideration but final call rests with them. Depping being the ultimate in that respect, turn up and have fun playing some great refreshing material. Tunes that you've not been endlessly rehearsing for that single gig at the Dog and Duck (Where the Duck didn't even bother turning up).
  18. Metro20 and yould be fine depending how many envelopes and synth pedals you want?
  19. Today
  20. Like I said, mostly inexperienced but only one not willing to listen. I guess the youngest is 40 and im the oldest. Others probably mid 40s. Al have gigs, and the drummer is in a part time gigging band (he has experience and we are on the same page). This is the singers first covers band, he has been a singer/song writer for years. The lead just this he has dont it all and knows whats what, but his attitude stinks. Thanks of the support. like I say, its neither her nor there what happens in the future, its more for me to get back up to speed on bass after 4 years away, but it would be nice if the hard work paid off.
  21. Quite an old skool club isn't it? Lots of people wanting to chat, but not many dancers. Nice enough place though and great painted back wall. The cheese and onion cobs are not too bad either.
  22. Ah, that's great to hear. Everyone was very welcoming. Up early the next morning for a rainy 7-hour drive to the Laundry Theatre in Bowness the following night. Another lovely venue. ...and then back to 'proper' work for 8am Monday morning. Even so, I'd do it again tomorrow.
  23. Looking forward to seeing her in Woking at the weekend!
  24. Personally i think you're fighting a losing battle if the amps they have are that small and they can't understand how bands function at live gigs. Out of curiosity what ages are they ? I guess if you're enjoying the songs its no different from "forever rehearsal bands". I'll wish you all the best with it and hope things improve for you Dave.👍 Dave
