The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Woodinblack replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
I am sure they did - anything they could sell! -
I received last week a pair of Soundbrenner Waves after a lot of the Spam in Instagram. And I have to admit that they are incredible. They are one of the most comfortable in ears I ever used. And soundwise are great. They have a little bass boost, but just a little, which makes them really good for gigging. The cable is fine, I like it. I was very skeptical with them until I tried them.

Surprised you still get four strings… I bet they thought about it! -

Not in a standard musicmaster - one tone, one volume, one tone cap, one pickup, one socket, and thats the lot - built the cheapest it could be. -

Yeah it’s a guitar pickup, 6 pole. There’s a lot of aftermarket options with 4 poles but personally I don’t think many of them sound better and having 6 poles makes no difference over four. I believe there are two caps in the circuit to enhance the low end response. The aftermarket jobs look interesting but hearing lots of comparisons online I usually prefer the stock pickup. With a bit of EQ you get all the lows but a more stringy midrange which sounds great imo. -

If they are pure tube outputs with a 8Ω and 4Ω output, and it is ok on one but not the other, then the only thing that can be wrong is the transformer or the socket for the 4Ω connector as there is nothing else, unless there is a problem with the speaker, or the loading is wrong (ie, not a 4Ω speaker), but I assume you tried that with the other one. -

Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout 1x12 300w Bass Combo - Final Price
Kev replied to Kev's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I need to move this on really, so I'm going to shift this down to £699. Final price on this, trade wise more specifically I'm only really looking at a PJB BG-80 with cash my way, otherwise cash sale, or potentially other non-amp trades plus cash. Happy to hand deliver or meet within an hour or two of the midlands. I won't ship I'm afraid. -
When I had one of these basses, I treated it to a new pickguard from Adrian Maruszczyk as I wanted a different look. The bass was moved on a few years back but it seems I held on to the original so here it is. The new one cost me £45 so I'm listing this for £30 including UK shipping. My feedback thread is below:
-
I succumbed to my urge to get a jazz…and negotiated a significant discount from list. It comes with ashtray and pickup cover. I was surprised to find a CoA in the case - i thought that was a custom shop only thing. I haven’t told my band yet but I’m looking forward to their reaction at the next rehearsal whenever that might be….i suspect it’s not black enough for them.

Those weights are absolutely insane. I wonder if the quoted units are wrong, though? If the 112 actually weighs 23.4 pounds, that would be around 10kg which sounds like a more reasonable figure.

Being a prog rock fan, I can't decide whether to aim for 5/8ths decent or 7/8th decent. 😂 -

I was going to ask about the pickup in the original Fender Musicmasters. Was it a proper bass pickup, or just a Strat pickup, like in the recent Squier re-releases? There seems to be a healthy market in proper bass pickup replacements that will fit without modification. I just put a Tone Rider split P in the Squier I had a few years back. It sounded great but it required quite a lot of modification to the body and a custom made scratchplate to accommodate it. -
I would LOVE Spencer to have the gall to ridicule Darkglass for copying HIM 😅
