D.I. Joe started following Singing and playing - how?!!

In addition to all of the aforementioned… Try not to concentrate too much on the mechanics of what you’re doing but instead try to listen, as if you are listening to someone else playing. It’s hard to explain, but I find that if I “take a step back” mentally and listen to the whole, rather than concentrating on what I’m doing, then everything seems to come together more naturally and it’s easier to relax, which itself is important.

Rejoined the Sandberg club with this lefty TT4, soft aged metallic orange with a birdseye roasted maple neck. Two gigs under it's belt so far, loving it 😊

That was a beauty miles, I remember it well

Just wanted to echo what others have said. Practice is the only way... However, HOW you practice can help a lot. I joined a band where I have to really sing for the first time a year ago and I found that singing my parts while doing other tasks made them a lot more routine. So singing while driving (easy), singing while doing the dishes (medium), singing while running (not as hard as you'd think!) - do something with your hands that's not quite as hard as playing bass while you're learning the vocal parts and you'll be more than halfway there when you strap it on. The other half is knowing the bass parts cold. You don't wanna be thinking about anything but the two tasks at hand so until you're really cooking on stage in this situation, play the lines exactly the same way note for note every single time.

A bit of a failure. I have gone back and fore with this one several times but cannot begin to make sense of the arpeggios he is using in the middle section. I have some shapes but cannot find a way to write them down that allows for it to be interpreted accurately. The whole performance is out of time and so the whole transcription is a vague approximation but it is such a lovely performance, I didn't want to leave the work that I had done, or at least tried to do, rotting on a hard drive in Felixstowe! So, here is my approximation of the YouTube video 'Jeff Berlin Improvises Beethoven'. I hope it is of use to someone. I think this is JB's best solo bass performance of all of those tunes he has tried. It sounds genuinely beautiful and not just 'clever'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/jeff-berlin-improvises-beethoven-ish-jeff-berlin/

That's the place I bought the 1965 P I had for a while from. Good experience, good people to deal with.

Sometimes it's just easier to go with the flow. I've definitely plugged a 1/4" patch cable between my Sansamp and a Behringer DI box before. Leaving a perfectly good (probably better) xlr on the Sansamp unused. I'll pick my battles.

Have you tried booking under the guise of a pothead that wants to have a mini rave and damage all the equipment? I believe they are welcomed

Blimey chaps. I can’t imagine the difficulties you have faced but this really illustrates the importance of our hobby and the pleasure it can bring. For me, playing, talking about gear and buying stuff has always been an escape from far less pressing concerns. All the best to you both. I love that amp, beautiful looking thing. Enjoy

I input the dimensions of the outer packaging (short scale bass) and Interparcel gave me the option of Evri. If they have mis sold me their service it'll be interesting to see where they go with this one. We'll see what they say. -
From one Sean to another, thanks for a fantastic Basschat deal. Great comms, rapid responses. Enjoy the bass, I'm glad she's with someone who appreciates her for what she is.

Good call on the lighting stand. I've got some painting to do soon and it's given me an idea. I don't have a lighting stand but I do have a similarly sturdy and be-tripodded bike maintenance stand. I've always used the W S Jenkins grain filler that Tonetech sell. Not sure if it's good or not really as I don't have much to compare it to, but it's another option if you need one.

Hey Pete, I have some inkling of what you are going through and I wish You all the strength you'll need to get through it. In 1988 when he was sixteen my younger son was involved in a car acccident that left him with a broken neck a paralised from the shoulders down. Our lives changed drastically. We had to find a new house that could be renovated to suit his needs. After a search involving 75 houses we found this one. The changes, like adding an elevator, cost $187K which we had to find! Cut to present day and he bought himself a Condo and went out with his attendant one day and never came back! But that's enough of my story. I no longer play out and haven't picked up a bass since the time of Covid. That said I do have a lot of knowledge and try to pass it on to help my fellows.
