  3. I'm really not good on diseased trees, Mick. 😂 OK, I can see it's not beech (I used to own a small beech wood), and I can see it's not pine (I've been to Ikea, y'know), but beyond that? Yup ... it's wood.
  4. In my mind a 50W bass amp is a toy, practice amp at best. I haven't used that little power in decades! I see nothing sexy about it.
  5. The only ones I can confirm are definitely genuine are Abraham Lincoln, Samuel Pepys, Glenn Miller, Jesus, and Paddington Bear
  6. Lovely bass for a very fair price. GLWTS!
  7. I think they were discontinued before the Specials came along, maybe quite a while before. They always sounded really good to me in the YT demos I saw. Never got to play one. From memory, they weren't that much more expensive than a bolt on model. Certainly not enough for people to raise a fuss about at the time. They weren't in production for very long, probably because there wasn't much demand for a non-traditional Stingray. Players are fairly conservative, and so many have already got Stingrays anyway. For a company like EBMM volume of sales is always a big consideration because they have limited production capability so they need to put their resources into making stuff that is going to sell. That's why they can't keep making models that aren't selling very many. With a limited range of models and options they can more accurately estimate what raw materials they will need and end up wasting less time and money.
  8. Didn't J Squiggle once play in The Searchers?
  9. +1 to that, Chris... I had the pleasure of meeting David at the weekend and having a play on this gorgeous Yamaha bass of his. The neck is absolutely stunning - straight and true, and a joy to play on. What's more, the bass sounds lovely too... Especially so because it's got a passive tone control that does what it's supposed to; you can get a nice bright and clear tone (think of the opening to The Eagles 'One of these Nights'), right through to that phat, rounded Motown tone with just a quick twist of the tone knob. Gorgeous! But the thing that surprised me most about this bass is how lightweight it is - which is quite something for an Ash body.. Anyway, suffice to say, it's an absolute bargain as you said Chris. Proper 'old skool' P Bass goodness and quality, for not much money at all when compared to vintage Fenders of the same era. GLWTS David 👍😊
  10. Any thoughts as to who some of these signatures belong to or what event this might have been signed at?
  11. I had this in my possession for a sleepover on its way to Jack. We were tempted to run away together but he would have just tracked us down.
  12. I love it. If I wasn't scratching in the dirt for food these days I'd take it in a heartbeat
  13. Those amps are insanely powerful, sound great, congrats

  17. Question: would the knobs from a J control plate equipped with stack knobs fit the East pot shafts?
  18. Picked up the combo a few weeks back and happened upon the cab a few days ago having given up hope of ever finding the matching set - love, love, love this thing! punchy TE sound in spades, plus it glows under UV 👽 1994 vintage

  23. Update: I went to Andertons today with a bass playing mate along for the ride to trade in the Ashdown MAG and check out the TC kit. Despite have phoned the day before and again just before leaving, they couldn't track down the cab in the shop and had to send out to the warehouse. In the meantime, we put the BQ250 into a 12" Ashdown cab and it sounded crap and a big let down. Just as I was thinking that it was a wasted trip, we eventually twigged that the problem was the borrowed 5 string (dodgy pot/battery? Dunno). Swapped the bass and behold, double the volume and punch. The TC cab eventually arrived and the 2 x 8 sounded better than the 1 x 12, job done.
