XR18 to IPad to Cubasis help needed
mikegatward replied to mikegatward's topic in General Discussion
Thanks all. I’ve made some progress. Getting the proper Apple cable was the key. I was then able to add the relevantly USB mapped channels from the XR18 i connected my iPhone to 2 channels and managed to record an iTunes track after a few false starts and help from a YouTube video so good progress especially for an old geezer like me -
Thanks Lozz, It was really sort of an open jam. I think it was pretty new to us at that time. If you notice at the end of the song when our guitarist went back to the intro riff I thought we were going to get lost. That's why I walked over and started that " rave up " to close the song. Daryl

It's been interesting reading everyone's experiences. All a little different, but also very similar. Certainly helps me feel more comfortable taking time off, and hopeful about the outcome.

Is Wilton Felder one of the best bassists of the 70s
Mrbigstuff replied to jamersongoated's topic in General Discussion
Luckily there’s lots of music for us to enjoy whether we prefer genre A, B, C ect. Those that you listed are big inspirations of mine because I particularly enjoy the bass playing to those old R&B/ disco tunes. But once you learn more of Jaco’s repertoire, you understand he could do that as well as anybody and still write and arrange on a bass in a way that was unique. -
I think we draw some things from Creams live version. It's never the same twice. Daryl

Does seem to be a bit of a theme in this thread, we get a bit older, stop trying to make it and play for the enjoyment of playing, lo & behold we have more fun and get more from it.

I understand the Z3's are made of Mahogany. I've had some light Mahogany basses in the past so fingers crossed!

It certainly did fall into place in that clip Daryl, sounded really good.

Mine came with D'Addarios, but I changed them to LaBellas a few months after getting it. I have nylons on my JMJ and love the sound. Though being plastic if there's a ground loop, touching the strings doesn't eliminate the hum. -
Option 1, sack the renaining OG driver and get another Deltalite. Port the cab to suit. Option 2, put the OG driver up top in it's own enclosure. @Bill Fitzmaurice might design you a passive crossover to take weight off it and porting to suit Option 2 would be putting basically a 8 ohm load to the amp.

Thanks Dave, I just wish we we were a little more consistent at that level. The clip is from one of those shows where everything just fell into place from the word " go ". Daryl

Thanks Stub, It's one of our big numbers. Lol IWhen we can't collectively find the groove it doesn't work. Daryl

This perfect version of Strasbourg-St Denis from Roy Hargrove by Toshiki Soejima. Coolness and optimist vibe all around. I dig his sound, playing and smile.

Squier Precision Bass neck from 1997. In good condition, fully loaded and also comes with neck/serial number plate, screws, knobs and bridge plus screws. Chinese made Affinity from the Yako factory apparently and well regarded budget instruments of the time. It’s a modern feeling neck. Truss rod turns left and right, frets are fine. Nice neck for a project. I can post in the UK only for free if you can’t pick it up.

A great day and so many thanks to be given. Both the Paul's and Gary for organising, @nikon F for very kindly giving me a lift. Lastly, many thanks to @silverfoxnik for his more than generous comments on my playing. It was great to catch up with peeps, try new basses and meeting new people as these bashes always are. -

I bought this new in April last year, using it briefly before discovering GR Bass. As such, everything is in mint condition and I still have the original boxes too so shipping is an option. This is an incredibly versatile amp, so much so that I couldn't possibly run through everything it can do here. There are lots of video reviews worth watching, but I am going to guide you to our very own Dood's review here, which gives a good deep dive into the amp. Boss Katana 500 Bass Head (£734) Boss BT-DUAL Bluetooth adapter (£45), so you can adjust settings on the fly via the app Boss GA-FC pedal (£99)l, again, for ease of switching in a live setup Boss VE-22 Vocal Processor Bag (£74), a perfect fit for the amp, power lead and a couple of speaker cables I’ve added some pictures taken today but forgot to add proof of ownership. Hopefully folks will know I am a stand up guy on here and save me the effort of retaking the pictures.

I gave up playing for about 6 years 25 years ago, I had been on the verge of "making it" in the music industry on a couple of occasions but fate had always dealt that killer blow, I sold my kit and didn't pick up a bass or guitar for years, I felt that they had let me down, or that I had let them down! I enjoyed the break, the removal of that desperation to "succeed" I was eventually tempted back into the fold with a band that again was striving to "make it" in the music industry but, to be fair we were already too old to even be considered as a new band...that still hurts because it was a bloody good band getting plenty of radio play and some bloody good gigs! But with that final acceptance that I was never going to "make it" in the music industry I have played and am still playing many of the venues my heroes played, I have played and still play some fantastic festivals, I am still playing in an original 1976 Punk band, I am enjoying playing for the fun of playing without any chance of "making it" in the music industry now!......Oh, and by the way, what exactly is the definition of "making it" in the music industry?

Cheers Nik! - and everyone else who came and said 'hi'! Fab to meet so many of you who I've known of and spoken to on here over the past 18 years. Well done to all the organisers, it felt like a smaller intimate version of The London Bass Show.... highlighted by the fact there wasn't enough time to speak to everyone. A very cool hang.... well done, folks! -
