This has been done several years ago (SE Bash I think). It needs a very, very, consistent player and an agreement on tone settings, amp etc. (There can be more variation from the tone controls of one instrument than between instruments. ) But yes, it's fun to hear just how good a £125 HB can be, and how really good a £3k ACG is 😁.

In my experience it depends on the EUB and the scale length. From recollection my Stagg used full sized strings as did my KK Baby Bass. My NS NXT uses custom NS strings but can take regular length strings by wrapping them around the back of the bass. Shorter scale EUBs such as the Dean Pace and Ibanez UB804/805 use regular electric bass strings.

My mum died from Dementia Jan 2nd, and it basically kicked off an extremely traumatic 2025. I had a knee replacement in Feb, which was way harder that I thought it would be. My best pal declined rapidly after a two year battle with cancer and lost the fight in October. We buried him in November. Our drummers wife had a heart attack. Their little granddaughter found her on the floor, and remarkably the emergency services saved her, but she’s been left with severe brain trauma and is a shadow of what she was. But she’s alive thankfully. I dunno man, this year…. I for one will be glad to see the back of it. As always, stuff like this makes you think…. do the stuff you want to do, be with the ones you love, live every day to the max…. You know.

I used to do panto every year. The set up varied but the md ( on piano) and drummer could see the stage. I was underneath to their right. Other musicians on the opposite side of drummer and md or sat with their backs to the stage. The songs and musical interludes were set pieces so any deviation from the script was in between and so didn't affect the band. We all had a cue sheet with our music and you learned when things were coming during the band call ( rehearsal for band only ) and usually the technical rehearsal held on the same day. To be fair even the Musicman collab is all about creating the simplest instrument possible - he currently gigs the cheaper Sterling version. Also love the fact that some (definitely not all!) of the most successful musicians in the world played basses that many average gigging bassists could have afforded when those basses were in production. And for no other reason than they loved them eg Paul McCartney with his Hofner and Yamaha BB and Tina Weymouth another Hofner player are two that immediately come to mind, and I'm sure we can think of plenty of others?
