2. I don't think anyone who uses tab doesn't also have a recording of the song(s) in question from which they can get the rhythm. I'm of an age when very little pop or rock music was written down in any format and if it was, it was normally wrong. Therefore I'll usually work things out by ear as I always have done. IMO if a band wanted me to play a baseline exactly as it has been recorded then they also need to supply me with tab, notation or a recording of just the bass line. Otherwise they will have to make do with my interpretation of the part, which will be close but might not be 100% accurate.
3. It just seems like good manners to acknowledge assistance that is offered. Guess I'm just old fashioned.
4. Max Richter two weeks ago in Ravenna (IT) I'm usually a rock-punk concert goer and that was an incredible music experience for me.
5. Here's my 2 cents first bass Fender Precision Standard (MIM, 2007) bought new in 2008, still going strong go-to bass parts P bass (italian liuther relic body, Fender Telecaster bass replacement neck, Re'62 pickups) built in 2022 'Your' / signature bass Epiphone Grabber 2024 bought on january 1st 2025 (this was a complete surprise to me)
6. Looks brilliant! I used to do a jazz session like this. We’d discuss a tune, explore the structure and the scales that could be used to solo. Then we’d run the tune and solo over the top. Was great fun. This seems really reasonable price, too.
7. I used to roadie for a band called Buffalo in the 80's. The bass player had a Trace Elliot 8x10 combo. It was ridiculously heavy and awkward to move. Two of us once had to carry it up an external fire escape to the second floor to access the room they were playing. No one used to think about the weight of amps when designing them back in the day.
8. I've been working on my sight-reading for a couple of years now and have been doing daily practice; however, I want to start applying it more and explore music theory further. I've found this course that looks really interesting: https://www.citylit.ac.uk/courses/pentatonics-and-beyond-improvising-in-popular-music I'm going to push the button but wondered if anyone had any experience of this kind of thing?
9. I got exactly the same response from my electronics guru friend when I suggested he comes along with some of his home-made valve amps. Mind you I doubt he'd want to do a talk, but it is fun looking inside these things with someone who has an oscilloscope and knows what all the parts do!

12. Once in a while it's quite cathartic to have a clear out. I've got stuff that I I just feel I'm never going to play in anger again, but who has the readies to spend thousands on a Lull?
13. @SteveXFR as said above dialing back on the output might help. Also try to play with the treble a bit. While technically the tonepump isn't a boost only setup, it doesn't have a center detent so the best bet is to dial back to "zero" , counterclockwise and start from there to see (hear) what you like. Eventually Spectors have their own sound and that either fits to the music you play or not.
14. Don’t get the hate for tab really. I did a dep gig Saturday and had chord based lead sheets printed by the leader. That’s tab, effectively, and was good enough for us all as we knew the rhythm. If it helps you play music, then crack on!

16. I had the same thing, so I pretty much gave up electric bass. In fact, I only ever play EB when I need to. Double bass has filled a part a part of my soul, and the people I’ve met while playing have been infinitely better. Find something else to spend your time on and come back to it if / when you want.
17. Any and all instruments in a jazz band.
18. Hopefully better than the appalling Foundry Series guitar amps Very cheaply built which was a shame as they sounded ok but build quality was shocking
19. I have dunlop strap locks on my Slash Les Paul. I was bending over at a gig and the top one let go. Les Paul face down on the deck Luckily no damage but I don't trust them anymore. I don't know why it failed Mainly used schaller ones most of my gigging life
20. I hit 50 a few years ago and realised I don't have to take this sh!t anymore It's liberating Well done Andy you'll feel so much better. Just doing the stuff you love with great people around you Get your groove on sir
