NBD: 2023 Music Man Stingray Special 5
HeadlessBassist replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
I know what you mean. Changing to the 40-95 + 125 gauge Elixir set seems to have somewhat cured that. The G does seem VERY close to the edge, which is beautifully rolled, of course. I found the same on a 2nd Generation Sire V7. They sometimes roll the edges a little too much and the G can slip off the board if you're not careful. -

For sale is my Rockboard Quad 4.1 pedlaboard fitted with the Rockboard Mod 1 patchy bay. Used this as my pedalboard for the last 5 years and it has been great, very light but sturdy and very easy to build a good pedalboard with. It's covered in velcro that can of course be removed. Also included is a Pedaltrain gig bag that came with the Pedaltrain that I recently bought. There is a small hole in the case which I've pictured and doesn't include the shoulder strap but other than that it's never been used. This could probably be stitched or glued back together... not that I'm an arts and crafts expert though! It just happens to fit the rockboard Quad 1 perfectly so thought I would list it as one whole thing.

For sale is a set of EMG J Jazz Bass pickups for 4 string bass. Comes with the solderless controls and wiring kit. Doesn't include the Jazz control plate sorry, using this just to keep it all together safely for the moment. I think I threw the box away but can package them securely and all instructions are available from the EMG website. Had these in my Jazz Bass for a year and saw very little use as I tend to gig mainly 5 string and precision basses. Decided I wanted to change back to passive pickups, so these are up for sale. Great sounding pickups and completely noiseless!

For sale is my Truetone 1Spot CS7 Great power supply in very good condition (just a slight scratch on the yellow paint) complete with box, mounting kit and all the various cables. Reason for sale is that I bought a CIOKS SOL for my Quad Cortex which I then obviously I sold but it still fits my needs better than the CS7 so needs to go! £110 ono delivered

Hi Al, I know that you've heard this already via a pm, but the PixelBar Switch has a swap-able front which diffuses the light and works well on the floor uplighting the band. You can set the colour and intensity via DMX or with the controls on the unit and they will work in master-slave mode so you can link them with a DMX cable and have them all the same without having to program each separately. I found the other LED bars to focussed to use in this mode as they dazzle you every time you look down. I currently use them in a vertical position on stands. This lights up your whole body more evenly and is more flattering than an uplighter. I'm no great beauty so need all the help I can get I've recently spotted these and fortunately one of our local music pubs has bought a set of 4 so I've seen them in action. At just under £30 they look good value and for just under £50 they also do a rechargeable version (12 hours light) which will cut the leads needed and set up time. Brightness isn't exceptional but plenty for my use and a set of four would light up the whole stage without distracting from you lightshow

Clearing out a lot of stuff that is just sitting in boxes under my desk. For sale is my EBS Microbass in Bass preamp and DI. Bought it on here a few years ago and used it for a number of tours for FOH and practice at home until it started to momentarily cut out on channel A intermittently but never for long, but long enough to not want to use it for live. Amazing sounding preamp and speaker sim and incredibly versatile. Probably could be used as a practice solution for somebody or perhaps somebody with tech knowledge or an interest in repairing things could fix it. £75 delivered.

As far as I can recall, I've never, in 57 years of gigging, come across this problem/situation in a band scenario. Could that be that we, unbeknown to ourselves, all shared the same views and mindset? Could it be that the gig was the most important issue so conversations of that type never happened? Could it be that I was never on the lookout for new "besties" but simply people to play good music with? Who knows, however, I have come across plenty of people who have a dislike of the elderly and who have, either directly kept me out of a band or guided my decision to not join a band.

Need help with an Aria Sinsonido bass electronics
sandy_r replied to K Barad's topic in Repairs and Technical
hi Phil I tried to contact the original designer about this (over a year ago?) and received zilch taking a spare bridge apart, it appears that the 2 condenser inserts just push in each end of the black plastic tube and the 2 grub screws each hold 1 internal so-called 'baffle' in place these internal 'baffles' appears to be a hollow, harder plastic tube (just visible in attached end-on view photo); the main function(s) of which presumably being: - to stop the outer, slightly flexible, tube from collapsing from pressure/tension of strings; - to allow free passage of acoustic waves from the 2 inner strings through to the mic inserts (...if this IS an intended feature, i'm not sure it has any more effect than the direct transmission of the same sounds along the wall of the outer tube) originally I thought the grub screws provided some sort of acoustic adjustment, but having seen inside it appears they only secure the internal 'baffles' hope this helps -
@Lozz196 Great gig. Not surprised you went down well as Therapy? don't nail themselves too firmly to a scene, so I expect their fans are pretty open to other stuff. The two albums I worked on in the early 2000s had a fair dose of Punk mixed in to the metal. And the drummer then, Neil Cooper, his first love was Jazz!

Ibanez ATK300 Review (the famous Stingray Killer?)
crazycloud replied to Rib13Bass's topic in Bass Guitars
Apart from the extra J PU, I don't see any extra 'quality' from the 800 or 1300 series that my MIJ 305 doesn't have. -
Help with buzz from Tonerider pickup on Ibanez SRMD200 bass
crazycloud replied to Brim Taika's topic in Bass Guitars
This. Don't change the pre unless you want a tonal change from it, and unless it has a baked in EQ curve that you want/like, most aren't worth the money. Shielding is worthwhile, but really only copper tape, well applied. There are plenty of tutorials on YT. However, it may not make all that much difference in many rooms/venues depending in the local EMF/EMI and earthing quality. Best bet would be to change to SC J PU to a stacked or series HB version. -
