This jazz bass is a bit of a mystery. The person I bought it off bought it like this so he knows nothing of it either. Its an exceptional jazz bass. Looks and sounds gorgeous. It has had the following mods by the looks of it: 1. Metal nut. 2. New machine heads / Tuners. 3. New pick ups. 4. New active preamp. 5. Fender high mass bridge. 6. "Leo" decal. It has a gorgeous wood and is beautifully finished. The neck is one of the best shapes I've played. It's quite flat feeling and very easy to play. The machine heads have been changed, I can tell as one is slightly proud, but doesn't affect anything. The pickups are just lovely. Mixed with the preamp this gives a ridiculous amount of tones available. The front does a decent p sound. The bridge gives that classic jazz sound. The high mass bridge by Fender improves stability and sustain. The jack isnt on the control plate, it's in the body position. Its on the heavier side, I would say over 4kg. As I say, I don't know what this started as, or what it is, I just know it's a beastly jazz. Plays and sounds lovely, is super versatile and looks beautiful. I'm guessing but the price for the upgrades would have been expensive. Pick up Leyland Lancashire.

This is such a cool thing. Is a truss rod-less graphite neck possible? Always loved that aspect of aluminium ones. -

Danny Sapko discovers… (now including follow up vid that is worse!)

There's a market for it, otherwise it wouldn't be trending. Although the market is just a prosumer market with no financial worth to the consumer. All the money is in the adverts between the content. If there truly was a market for it, the musicians would all be doing it on subscriber channels. SBL and the like have additional content that you pay for. -
Trades - X Touch Universal, maybe Alto TS215. Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

It sounds like it *might* be user error after all... I've noticed that you CAN turn the units on while in the box. I noticed that while putting the box in the gigbag, where it usually lives. I must have pressed the button for one of the units without realising, and there it was shining... Today, after making sure charger box, transmitter and receiver were all fully charged, I simply turned both units on, set a timer next to them on my desk, and carried on with my work. Four hours later both were still fine. I'm not sure if there's much difference in power consumption between them being 'on but unused', or 'on and used'. While I figure things out, I am going to find a safer way to carry these things.

I reckon that’s a pickup.

The pink was bought from Rothko and Frost when I purchased the Paisley paper sheets. It's Dartfords "Paisley Pink" nitrocellulose lacquer https://rothkoandfrost.com/products/paisley-pink-pigmented-nitrocellulose-guitar-lacquer-400ml-aerosol?_pos=10&_sid=b0219a1bb&_ss=r

Precisley the point I made above. I live in Bristol and regularly get to see some incredible young musicians who play wonderfully. Sadly, there are few opportunities for them in the traditional sense, and I agree that YouTube provides a revenue stream. I guess so does making videos of model railways. I'm not interested in that either. Reflecting on it, the point I'm making is that they're playing music but so much of it isn't musical at all. It's showing off. I mean, in what circumstances would anyone *really* want to hear double tapping or an extended solo on the bass?

(more clearing .. ) sE Electronics Z5600a II dual tube microphone 2012 ! The ‘5600’ in excellent condition, hardly been used , and when was in use - it was really looked after carefully ! Rich, warm tube sound, versatile recording options, and pro-level clarity—perfect for vocals and various acoustic inst, inc overheads, room mic podcast , cello, violin, double bass ! also super solid in sE best days IMO ! I would say that the sound profile of the 5600 is leaning towards the vintage/rich lows and has a great multi pattern pre-amp, the settings are not attached to the mic ! this is great really because fiddling with the mic , while in position, each time you want to explore a new sound is first world problem for sure,, but still a problem - Comes with all the cables, shock mounts, etc and that briefcase. A fantastic studio-grade mic that gives you a classic tube tone without breaking the bank. The briefcase (not mic !) was stored in the studio basement along with various hardware tools so there are few light scratches on it, The case was once taken to a photoshoot and we dug a battery compartment in the case.. you might find that useful.. Oddly, from what I can see, there arent that many around, which suggest that folk keep hold of it and also has a good potential to hike in value with time ! Some sell for silly money abroad. Sadly this one has to go while im packing this studio to a new spot. Price: £400 (Lowest, like for like, I could find on the bay and reverb combined is £465 Condition: Excellent. Includes: Original box, manual, all cables and pre amp. This came with an EU kettle lead. I can throw in an adapter if you dont have one . Collection: Brighton or London. or can post within the UK (tracked and insured, at your expense.(will be heading upnorth 23/24/25/ August so can meet along M1/M6. Meet along the way or outside Manchester or nearby cities.) Feel free to ask any questions !

And maybe that is there market. I know a fantastic keyboard player that developed massive stage fright, can't perform at all. i used to be terrified of it when I was a lot younger. I watch some youtube, but not streamers or any of that stuff, I look up songs when I have to play them, I watch a few comedy things, and a few politcal things. But probably not the audience for any of that sort of stuff
-
Maybe for 2026 we should have a parallel "Gear Acquisition Challange"? T1, basses T2, pedals amps etc T3, any other instruments Points for quantity, not necessarily quality or cost.

I could too, if it wasn’t for the fact that they claimed to have known my dad for 10+ years.
-
But they’re not doing it for their own personal pleasure, they’re broadcasting it. I don’t watch YouTube, don’t follow streamers or any of that sort of stuff because in most cases what I see is just not musical. It’s vain virtuosity in the pursuit of clicks (and therefore cash). I play classical music on my own in my bedroom but I wouldn’t play in an orchestra. In the end, none of it matters really.
-
I understood that they meant well and was only sharing that they too had the same if not similar experience that I had growing up
