Crikey. Give me a chance. I need to get the basics before anything that advanced. I've almost perfected the the Log Float from the first edition. That simple illusion where by bobbing down then up slightly while supporting the bass with a hidden hand, retaining the bass height, makes the bass appear to 'float' on stage.

Here is a Classic Vibe from the original Chinese run. It has a replacement bridge (original included) and Gotoh Japan tuners, there is a few dings on the back and front of the body but nothing serious. Weight is 4 kg or a shade under 9 lb`s. I would prefer collection from me in Paisley. -

Immaculate Ashdown 12-Band 600 in Gator 2u rack case. Fully serviced by the esteemed Dave Green at Ashdown UK in October. In good working order. This amp is fantastic and incredibly versatile. 600 watts into 4 ohms, 300 watts into 8ohms. Solid state in all its glory and it will not quit when pushed. My current ‘Ray GAS is leading me down this route. In general, ‘Rays are generally too heavy for me and the ones that aren’t are £3k-ish 😱. I have a Squier 40th anniversary P that has a neck I like, is lightweight and balances well, which I picked up from Thomann on the cheap deals they were doing on this model, some time back. Time to invest in a Dremel (other small handheld tools are available) with a router attachment methinks; how hard can it be? 😬 -

Used a total of 3 times to power 4 passive speakers for rehearsals whilst my bands powered PA speakers were away being repaired. In immaculate condition and in good working order. Nice clean sound and goes very loud. Power ratings. Stereo mode (per channel). 8ohm: 440 watts. 4ohm: 900 watts. 2ohm: 1500 watts. Bridged. 8ohm: 1500 watts. 4ohm: 3000 watts. Mono. Same as stereo but only uses channel A input and splits the signal between channels A and B. I’ve got a horrible feeling my wife recycled the box but if I can’t find it I’ll ship in excessive bubble wrap in a box. No trades thanks. Price includes shipping to locations within the UK. Set of rack mount bars for a GK RB amp. I haven’t owned a GK amp for several years but they would have come off of either a 1001RB II or a 700RB III as I owned both. Not the most exciting but I once bought a 6 string fretless bass on gumtree. When i got it home I realised there was quite a heavy duty strap in the case. I used that strap for years! The bass... think i had it for about 3 weeks! -
Gig with the Bonnevilles R&B band at the Foley Arms in Sutton Coldfield. Reasonable stage area and an unused area to the side where we could dump bags and cases. A fair few followers came as well. I'd managed to rip a flap of skin up on my right middle fingertip on Thursday which wasn't ideal. Put paid to any alternating finger work, and to the occasional bit of index finger relief. Had to resort to plectrum for quite a few songs, which reminds me that I left my plectrum holder on the mic stand (the singer supplies his and my mic stands). Had several plasters on standby in case the one I was using fell off (it didn't). I bought a jap jazz from France that had been fitted with some glorious Hepcat 62 pickups. Best I've ever heard. Foolishly returned the Jazz to stock and moved it on because we didn't quite bond. Eventually sold the Hepcats as they were languishing in a parts drawer (i'm a P player these days). I'd love another set but they'd set me back €240 plus import fees... the pups that got away. -
Thanks Tony, I suspect I'll do it myself as not only do I like a challenge, but my violin-making friend is not all that keen on double basses taking up a whole lot of space in what is a rather violin-sized workshop
