  2. Oasis were always more of an overarching cultural thing than a music thing anyway. There were many bands in that Britpop era that were far, far better than them, but they were the ones that got the column inches, the NME/Melody Maker covers and the tabloid scandals. Basically Oasis - the brand - was the big seller, and the music was only a smallish part of all that. The sad thing is, if you put together a supertour featuring a bunch of other contemporary British pop-rock bands who musically left Oasis in the dust (Radiohead, Blur, Pulp, Suede, Supergrass, the Manics, The Verve, Mansun, Ocean Colour Scene, Sleeper, Feeder, Elastica, etc) they probably wouldn't sell as many tickets as Oasis have.
  3. It's a superb example of Carol Kaye's bass of choice from 2002. These don't come up too often. Condition is remarkable for the age. It's even got the plastic film on the cavity covers. It's Korean-built and we know they know how to do neck-through properly. The build quality is stunning as is the grain of the ash wings. The neck profile is what I'd call slim modern J. Controls are: Vol, Blend, Treble, Bass. It's been deep cleaned and set up beautifully (med/low) with D'Addario EXL170BT strings. that's a balanced tension set. As per all my rosewood board instruments, it's been treated with Montypresso. Frets are level and polished to 7000 grit. All electronics have been checked and all pots cleaned. New battery fitted today. Truss rod is perfect. It's 4.4kg. I've got proper packaging and am happy to ship insured at buyers expense, which will be about £30. If you're undecided and fancy trying it out, I can usually accommodate a try-out with some notice weekdays or weekends.

  4. Hello! Greasing the fretboard on a 1986 MIJ 1962 jazz bass reissue and the edge of the nut flew off. No harsh treatment, gently moving the E string in, off it went! I’m looking to replace it, will get a local luthier on it, are there any considerations here? Fender only sell one JB nut (will this fit any / all JBs?), would this fit, anything beyond “get a nut in there” that should shape any replacement? Cheers!
  5. Hi mate, very nice axe! By any chance, would you accept a swap? Cheers, Dan.
  6. I have used him in the past on an old Ric I had.. Black plate and TRC which he would only do on proof the Ric is genuine...
  7. Will part trade toward a cali76 CB cash your way.
  8. Woody just bought a tuner from me. A super smooth transaction, many thanks
  9. Loverly flame!
  10. And that’s where a luthier who hand picks the woods can hopefully make some difference. Not that I’m saying there is an exact science to the outcome based on woods alone. Handmade doesn’t always mean better than CNC either, there’s just too many variants.
  11. Fixed 😂 Trying to type while keeping an eye out for the boss at work.
  12. Here's mine. Though I've since gone back to Black hardware, The machine heads are Gotoh 707's Which are a direct, no hassle replacements. I still have them, if you're looking to buy some.
  13. I can see tin, and components, but the iron has been cold on the table.
  14. Blood Incantation is phenomenal. I'm usually a black/doom listeniner, but I really like BI.
  15. I'm taking my wife and daughter to Wednesday 13 in a few weeks. I just realised, and felt a bit sad about it..... because Wednesday 13 sucks.
  16. I think - although not my idea - that a good sideman is far more important than a flashy soloist. It may even be so that a flashy soloist can be a lame sideman. Such a player may not be the best bandmate.
  17. Very nice indeed. And it's got a hard case. Do you still have the original pickups?
  18. Wilkinson WJB750, and no, not a straight swap - had to fill and redrill the screwholes.
  19. From my experience as a music lecturer. It’s the events this weekend in Birmingham that most young musicians will be watching. Oasis don't seem to figure highly in my students’ musical influences.
  20. I loved mine. Got nicked from a gig one night 😒. Lightweight with great top end.
  21. Nothing to do with accuracy, you don't know which one of us has the better ears. What if I don't want singing, I don't want punch and I don't want a bottom end? I'm not arguing about whether basses sound different, I'm arguing whether one bass sounds objectively better than another.
  22. It has one of the best B strings I’ve played this bass, it’s an absolute beast - as all Anacondas are, but I’ve played this one and the B rings like a bell 🔔 Really great sounding bass
