  2. I prefer the first one - more flexibility for positioning your forearm. I would worry that the second one is much more prescribed and you have to keep your forearm where the carve is - either side of it and you're actually going to be resting on a perceived hump/point.
  3. If this was in the Uk I would be stupidly tempted 🤣
  4. Laney R500H 500w Bass Amp I'll put some current pics up tomorrow but here's the thread from when I bought it off here. I've only used it live a couple of times. Moving it on cos I've just bought an EBS 350 off here and I don't need 3 amps. No trades ta I have the original box and courier will be around £10. There was one on eBay from Japan for £400+ so obviously it's rare, desirable and probably lawsuit era 😂 New pics added Original post

  5. Hello all im in the process of drawing up some plans for a new project and am running into the sticky issue of ergonomics it may be that there is no hard-and-fast answer to this, but it would be good to get some opinions the question is about the shape of the front of a bass body a good example is Wal, here are examples of their mk1 and mk3: the Mk1 has a straight carve out of the upper edge, the MK3 has a rounded carve out is either of these specifically preferable? and if so why? would be very interested to see which people prefer from a comfort standpoint
  6. Maybe this was yours a few years ago? https://auctions.gardinerhoulgate.co.uk/catalogue/lot/a9f986cf25c045e44fe1c6a5bcf21298/63b778f7668dabe928d3800924a99077/the-guitar-auction-four-day-sale-including-guitars-e-lot-364/
  7. @Bass Wielder.....thank you but you're really not helping my wallet/wife scenario either! 🤣 What would say is the "general tone" and feel of the bass like? Modern, punchy, vintage, mellow? I'm assuming from the pickup layout it might be Lakland5502-esque?
  8. This box has a set of three Speakon connectors wired in parallel (using pins 1 & 2) so can be used as an extender for speaker cables, or to allow two cabs to be driven from the same amp One connector at one end and two at the other end The box is made from very solid extruded aluminium
  9. I bought this very well upholstered Gator gig bag (current retail £135) for my Guild Starfire bass, but although it fits, its a bit tighter lengthwise than seems sensible, so this has barely been used. It is fairly obviously sized for a Gibson 335 guitar, but will also fit a flying V or a short-scale bass that's a fraction smaller than a Starfire Loads of padding, loads of pockets and a waterproof cover (in pocket 6 on the back, I think - depends how you count the pockets) The padding at the base of the bag can be removed (its on velcro) to give a couple of cm extra space - the quoted overall internal length is without this extra padding fitted Pickup preferred, but I will post it, although I haven't worked out what that would cost, let me know if you're interested and I'll get a price. Internal size: Overall Length: 46.1" (117.09 cm) Body Length: 25.0" (63.5 cm) Body Height: 3.5" (8.89 cm) Lower Bout Width: 17.3" (43.94 cm) Middle Bout Width: 15.4" (39.12 cm) Upper Bout Width: 13.0" (33.02 cm) Exterior Dimensions: Length: 47.8" (121.41 cm) Width: 18.3" (46.48 cm) Height: 6.9" (17.53 cm)

  10. LA Audio high quality active DI box, very solid construction; comes with an instruction leaflet - which is worth reading since the box is deceptively versatile! This works off an 18v rail so can cope with high or low level signals. Power via phantom from your mixer or 2 x 9v batteries Usefully it has a +20db switch to increase the level of low output devices and with 1M ohm input impedance is compatible with piezo pickups The Input will work with Instrument or Speaker levels ('Pad' switch is for speaker level), isolated XLR output for your mixer and a 'link' output to take the signal on to an amp or cab A separate unbalanced output is available as well as the balanced XLR
  11. Excellent solid and versatile active DI box from Canford Audio, only selling since I have three of these It comes with the instruction leaflet Inputs for Instrument or Amp output. Output jack for Amp input or speaker cab alongside. Balanced XLR output to mixer on the reverse. Instrument input 1.8M ohm impedance - so no loading of amp input or pickups Phantom powered off the mixer XLR or by 9v battery

A useful single channel line level isolating transformer for removing hum loops from PA, Mixer etc in a very solid metal case Input on either XLR or 6.3mm Jack - balanced or unbalanced Balanced output on XLR or 6.3mm Jack Switches for ground lift and phase reverse. The third switch provides either unity 1:1 or a 2:1 ratio tap for long cable runs There is a small circuit diagram on the top to remind you what all the connectors and switches do! Quoted frequency range is 20Hz to 25kHz at line level Dimensions 120 x 44 x 90 mm

  13. Otis Jay Blues Band head into their fifth year with a new lead singer - if we can keep hold of Cecilia, we have a bright future (hopefully). Vocals/keys, guitar, drums, bass/vocals and harmonica. Trying to diversify into original material - a slow process - so maybe we can get bookings in blues clubs and festivals. As far as it goes, we play anywhere on the (Deep) South coast adjacent to Bournemouth.

  16. What a fantastic bargain for someone! Always had a soft spot for the Lexus amps and cabs. - I can honestly say that pretty much every band I've seen this year (roughly around 40 gigs, mostly in the UK) have used 'big rigs', regardless of venue size. Most being small to medium. None of them have used IEMs. National bands have all had roadies. I use a 'big rig' (well 2 at a time if I'm honest, 2x amps and 4x 15's) for one of my bands regardless of venue size. They are alway mic'd as the amps don't have DI outs. The FOH sound is always near identical to the sound coming from my cabs. To summarise, in my experience, big rigs are most certainly not out of date...
  17. Think I’ve mentioned Youths briefly before, but the short version: 4 piece pop/punk: singer/guitarist, also the songwriter guitarist bassist (yours truly) drummist All the songs are borne from Max’s life and experiences but you can probably make a lot of them mean whatever you want. No gigs yet planned for 2026 because we have a bit of a drummist conundrum, hopefully we can share some good news soon 🙂

  21. There is convergence between traditional luthiery and semi-pro hobbyists. Then there's @rwillett... ...who uses CNC but who also designs from scratch using digital modelling. There are many examples of flexible CNC based builders who can. These Build Diaries demonstrate this. I am just stating this for balance. I think there is room for new tech AND traditionally skilled craftsmen. I like ACG designs purely for their appearance. I may actually play one some day.
