  1. Past hour
  2. These look stunning! Very much aiming at the Rob Allen style of bass. RRP of around €3,500.
  3. Who is the approved repairers in Sheffield ?
  4. Relisting due to financial situation. Not the bass I want to sell most but suffice to say I have enough jazz basses, even if this is jazz software on precision hardware. Made in Korea in the 80s, it's well made and well used. Let me know if you want more pictures. I replaced the pickup covers with cream covers because I like the Tony-Franklin-esque contrast and the originals were in a state. I do not have the thumb rest. Quick edit, photos above don't show this wear:

  5. Ah got ya 👍🙂
  6. Thanks. Have another biscuit ! These are stunning basses in appearance, even better than my photos and the pickups / preamp don’t disappoint either. I couldn’t find any other preowned one’s for sale in the UK currently so this is a great chance for somebody to enjoy a magnificent bass. Cheers. Quent
  7. There's another track on his bandcamp page https://officialflea.bandcamp.com/album/honora
  8. I'm not a massive Chili Peppers fan but I quite like the Flea track from his upcoming solo album (not quite sure about the vocals though) He's also announced a tour with a single UK show at Koko, tickets went on sale today to O2 Priority people https://www.koko.co.uk/events/flea-the-honora-band
  9. These Harley Benton strings are amazing, a bit more rough under the fingers, but the overall tone is really excellent: https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_hqs_bass_45_100_flatwound.htm And here is the thread about them:
  10. One time I had mic stand thrown at me because apparently "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" doesn't need a bass solo between each vocal line. I beg to differ Ma'am!
  11. Final price drop. It’ll remain at this price until sold. Now £110.00 ✨
  12. I do it a lot myself, hence the irony
  13. I was in a covers bad until fairly recently and there were a few reasons: 1) sometimes one member of the band (usually the drummer) just couldn't seem to shake a mistake that he'd internalised after playing a part slightly wrong for so long, so going along with his version kept the band tight and wasn't a big enough deal that anyone would care in the middle of a gig situation - path of least resistance. 2) we weren't a tribute band, and were only a power trio, so had to be creative sometimes if we liked a song but the recorded arrangement didn't suit us - those often went down well as they'd be songs people weren't expecting us to play. We did a version of the song Bad Company, which was a Goldilocksian hybrid of the original (too piano-y) and the Five Finger Death Punch version (to metal-y) that suited our capabilities. 3) drummer/band leader in particular was fond of doing medleys/running songs into each other/"interpreting" - we did a long jammy version of Communication Breakdown which as far as I'm aware borrowed from various available live versions, other Zep songs, etc. Always went down well.
  14. It is a lovely preamp however the EQ is very limited. If you are looking for surgical EQs or ‘flat’ response then you will be disappointed. Essentially it sounds nothing like the graphic EQ solid state amps to my ears. The general tone however is awesome, especially with a passive bass. I would never sell my V6.
  15. Always , always read the thread…. I’d never do something dumb like not reading the thread first … #heavyirony btw
  16. Intriguing new model to celebrate Sandberg's 40th anniversary: https://bassmagazine.com/sandberg-guitars-reveals-florence-nova-bass-series/
  17. Ive tried several too, my preference is the Status Hotwires, but sadly they arent available anymore. Have got La Bellas on at the mo, but they arent cheap
  18. Today
  19. Very reasonably priced for such a fantastically simple and effective compressor
  20. I'm a big fan of Ernie Group flats (I don't like the Cobalts at all). They are easy to play and have a really nice non-grabby feel under the fingers. Quite bright to start but that settles in to the best old sound I've ever had from a string. I like them so much I've even done the E45 cream thing with them to get them there faster!
  21. For sale, two sets of RS66S short-scale bass strings. These are stainless steel rounds, and according to RotoSound provide a 'Bright hard hitting tone'. One set is new and in its original pack. The second set was fitted on Sunday, then removed and thoroughly cleaned (with surgical spirit) on Tuesday after less than 2 hours of use. The strings really don't suit either the bass (a Spector Shorty) or me. The used set is cut for 2 a side (as above a Spector Shorty). There's a reasonable amount of winding for each post (especially the E and A) so some flexibility. The cheapest I've seen these strings in the UK is £21 including shipping. The price for both sets listed here, including shipping within the UK, is £20. Any questions, please just let me know.
  22. I went to buy some of the Tesco sausages, checked the 'use by' label... and, they're off.
  23. There was a thread about them earlier, but no personal experiences as far as i can tell! Hagstrom Nekromant bass - Bass Guitars - Basschat
  24. Bananas - The Man Band
