  1. Past hour
  2. Good responses. I’m going to try these Dragon Skins out then. Though one thing I need to check - do they allow strings to ground properly at the bridge? (i.e. Is the coating conductive?)
  3. Just gauging interest in this… 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)
  4. Do you mind if I ask why not?
  5. There’s a few different options but we use essentially a Roland electric drum kit trigger with a Roland drum module. We’re running two separate sounds/units through it. One is a kick drum (me) and the other is a snare/tambourine type sound (guitarist). They do a standalone kick drum with a built in module I think which is a simpler route if it’s just a single kick you’re after. But I can’t seem to find a link for it, so it may of been discontinued.
  6. Had a very similar looking HW C64 years ago. That was such a great bass and sounded spot of with Rotosound flats. My current 4003 is on string set number 6 after a few years of searching for that "tone". I found it again with that same set of Rotosound flats. Enjoy, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with your rather handsome new purchase !
  7. Hi .I might be interested in this. Can you tell me what the neck pocket radius is ? Thanks
  8. I know I know lol interesting read that article
  9. These might all be gone from BC stock. I've got a pile of them that I used to hand out at Bass Bashes, PM me if you want a set.
  10. This is mine
  11. Indeed, that's where I'd seen it, but the first post in here mentions ebony, rosewood and pau ferro. No worries, I'll stick to the one thread :D. Thanks again.

  14. It's true, this rig is simply magnificent and not that heavy. The sound it produces is amazing!
  15. The SVT212AV is heavy for sure but it’s a great match for the V4B. It may be the perfect match, sure looks sexy as hell as a rig though ! I lugged mine around and I’m 65 !!
  16. The drive sounds very similar from what I've heard on YouTube...
  17. Well, we're all different of course but I don't get any reaction or finger burn from the DRs. As I said originally there was a slight friction for the first hour or two but then nothing. Speaking purely about smoothness/string noise, IMO Elixirs are the smoother/less noisy of the two, althoigh the DRs are smoother than their uncoated strings. However, also IMO I don't like the Elixir higher tension and lack of zing/chime compared to the dragon skin plus. All personal preference and I'd say both are good options depending on which details you prefer.
  18. I recall suggesting one. Quite useful for covers bands.
  19. Yep I’ve used a few of these and it’s one of those rigs I wish I’d had.
  20. I have, there is mention of PEEK fingerboards in the specification. 😊 I've tagged you so you can find it easily.
  21. Interesting read, thanks for that
  22. This is an old composition of mine, so couldn't enter the competition, even if it fits very well into this month's "topic", but just recorded this take of it : A single track solo bass surf math rock (or progressive surf rock, if you will) piece, played on my just 28.6" scale length 5 string Ibanez GSRM25 Mikro Bass, "Mr. Growly - The Noodlemancer", tuned in G# standard tuning (that is as one half step bellow the upper 4 strings of a 6 string bass in regular B standard tuning, plus a high E).
