  2. I've only really zoomed through the thread, so you'll have to forgive me if I have missed some pertinent details. I thought I'd just chime in regarding the teaching aspect: As yet, I've never needed an additional 'bass preamp' before my interface. However, if I felt the urge I do have a few on my "shelves of pleasure". I just made that up, on reflection it sounds way more dodgy that it's supposed to. I digress. A decent interface with a higher enough inout inpedeance isnt really that different from the input of a "transparent" bass preamplifer. So, rather than worry about getting my tone with extra boxes, I have always shaped the sound with a really good plugin. My teaching favourite for absolute clean (and totally dry) to mildly driven sounds is the Neural DSP Cory Wong X - in the DI/Channel strip setting. No amp sim, no cabinet. It is bonkers good when you get it dialled in and I'd highly recommend that over messing about with additional hardware. *unless the interface being used can not accomodate the output needs of the instrument. (Which I am yet to find on anything with more than two inputs). Just a thought! Oh, if you're on a Mac and you are using OBS or similar for online lessons you'll have no doubt come up against the issue of getting "computer audio (plugins/DAW/usic palyer) and microphone out to the other party" and this is also fixable.
  3. The story around this build is documented on these here pages: Bass started life as a 2007 USA Highway One Precision. The following changes were made to create the Deaky Bass (all done by a professional guitar tech): Schaller 3D Roller Bridge. Gold hardware (screws, knobs, neck plate, string retainer, schaller straplocks & Wilkinson vintage tuners) Professional respray - black cellulose plus vintage tint on headstock and reverse of headstock and heel. Pickups upgraded to Seymour Duncan SPB-2 and a Ki0gon wiring loom. B/W/B pickguard. Cavity and rear of pickguard fully shielded. Includes a Fender strap (with gold Schaller straplocks) and a Hiscox case. The finish has taken a few scuffs and doinks around the bottom edge as this has been my main gigging bass for over 3 years now. Has been recently professionally setup and restrung. Weight dead on 4.0kg on the bathroom scales. I've priced this in line with an unadulterated Highway One P Bass. Collection preferred (north west Edinburgh), pop round have a coffee and a tryout. Also happy to meet up central belt. Thanks for looking.
  4. Hello all, I've recently (last saturday...) seen Mark King in Pisa - Italy, and noticed he uses two Supernaturals onstage a red one and a brown one. Having a 1980 Alembic Series I, I'm guessing how the tone of those is comparing to my ol' pal...
  5. Hi all, I'm selling my Radial Bigshot I/O, as I've managed to acquire an EBS Microbass which does much the same kind of thing. Excellent condition and full working order, without original box. 7. Cheers! Yeah, if I were still gigging regularly, I'd be clinging on to this amp. But I'll be keeping my Little B*ast*rd 30 for recording - probably my joint favourite with the CTM-100! - so I can't really justify keeping both of them.

  9. Korg B2 + Korg PU-2 + Gator GKB-88-SLIM + RTX 93 + RTX KBX, everything in almost new condition and, of course, fully working. Replaced by a Studiologic Numa Nero, which was itself replaced by a Studiologic SL88 GT Mk2, as I only used it on vacation or as a master keyboard. NO TRADES! PRICE NON-NEGOTIABLE! Asking price, fully insured delivery with tracking number, to your home, for the following European countries (for other countries, please contact us): Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding French overseas territories), Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom: €375 (£325 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros; the new price of the whole set is €686)! Shipping to the UK is of course possible and included in my asking price, but with additional customs charges (VAT + other taxes + courier costs), as the UK is now outside the EU, just ask. It will be delivered complete with PDF user manuals, namely: Korg B2 (with power supply and music holder), new price: 419 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/korg_b2_black.htm), Korg PU-2 (optional triple pedal), new price: 75 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/korg_pu_2.htm), Gator GKB-88-SLIM (semi-rigid carrying case), new price: 109 Euros (https://www.thomann.de/be/gator_gkb_88_slim.htm), RTX 93 (adjustable keyboard stand), new price: 37.50 Euros (https://www.woodbrass.com/stands-clavier-rtx-x93-stand-p20358.html), RTX KBX (adjustable bench), new price: 45.50 Euros (https://www.woodbrass.com/banquettes-clavier-rtx-kbx-p17536.html). A grand total of 686 Euros, new. I'm leaving everything, in impeccable, almost new condition (I'm a maniac for my gear), for €375 Euros, delivered to your home or picked up at my place, in which case I'll be offering a Lewitz/Revoltage HP710 (closed-back headphones), new price 23.90 Euros (https://www.muziker.be/fr/revoltage-hp710). The Korg B2 also has the advantage of being able to act as an audio return via its USB port, which is very practical for using it as a master keyboard on a PC, and having the sound coming directly from the keyboard. Link to the Korg B2 website: https://www.korg.com/fr/products/digitalpianos/b2/ Due to severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus left and right shoulders injury, without mentioning a painful tendonitis on the right arm, I'm selling all the stuff I'm not using like this one. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more details, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it! 10. Yes, there's an input clipping LED, it's next to the master on its left. It turns red when the input signal is clipping and depending on the output level of your instrument, sometimes, the input gain must be set high, after noon position (very low output passive instruments in Pure Mode, for instance). It's number 17 in the manual.
  11. I tried mine after you posted. Left them on for 30mins or so, but they didnt turn off or go to sleep as far as I can tell.

  13. Back with an enhanced version of Deadlight Dance yesterday, and once again we were joined by our drummer from our Sixth Form band, Mike. This was for a street party in the road my band mate lives in. I had my trusty long scale Hofner Verythin bass but was mixing it up with several on the Gold Tone (AKA Goth Tone) Mandocello and even a couple on guitar and a couple on mandolin. I was going through my Boss BCB60 with the Boss IR2 at the end of the chain. I was telling the story of how we filmed our zombie apocalypse video in this very road, in a very light hearted way - see Infectious for details - when that Government text alert went off! You couldn’t make it up and it was a genuine comedy moment. We played well. We picked up some travelling fans from the last gig and even sold a few CDs. It was also an absolute pleasure to hang out with two of my oldest friends.
  14. I'm heading to the Peak District in September so could take it should anyone that way be interested. Cheers.
  15. I had a similar issue at a theatre on Saturday. The in-house lighting guy had put one of those automated turning and tilting round LED multi colour lights right next to where I was playing. Every time I moved to the right, my Jazz Elite's preamp started whining & hissing like crazy! I thought it was unusual at the time, as that bass is usually as quiet as a comatose mouse. I've attached a picture here - you can see it through the legs of my Fender Stool.

  17. Howdy all I love Rotosounds, but I don’t love these. Unwrapped, cut to fit a Fender Jazz, used for 10 mins, removed. They sound amazing but are too high tension for my left hand. Weird. Other Rotos seem fine to me, but whatever. Anyway. My loss is your gain. Very bougie strings for £15 posted to your door (as long as you’re in the UK). Pete

  20. John made me a passive Vol-Blend-Tone loom for my 5 string Precision build. Dead easy to install (even if John was super-fast in delivering it and you've lost the wiring diagram in the weeks it took for the pickups to arrive) and sounds great. Thanks again John!
