  1. Past hour
  2. Stuart Zender on this video. Fabulous. What an influence. At such a young age too. What post-Jamiroquai should we be listening to? He really dropped off the radar. Well as far as I could see.
  3. It was originally a single pickup, passive Pro1 that I picked up secondhand, but virtually new when someone p/x’d it at the music shop my then drummer ran (saw it on the wall in the shop, took it to our gig that night and it never went back 🤣) That was around 1982. A few years later I had a pickup built by Kent Armstrong into a Wal pickup housing and fitted in front of the bridge turning the Vol & Tone into two Vol with no tone, but still passive. In 1996 I took it up to Wal for a general service and Pete showed me another Pro1 that they had in that was being converted. He told me that the Pro’s were built with the intention that active electrics could be retrofitted if the owner desired in the future, and quoted a good price to do so for mine, so the die was cast and I went for that along with the service and a few weeks later I went back to collect my now active Wal with the Kent Armstrong pup swapped out. So it started life in 82 as a one pickup passive Pro and was converted by Wal to full active in 96.
  4. Hi, Bass is 4.3kg on my bathroom scales, original trans red finish.
  5. This one is a good snapshot, lots of people logged on and lots of posts showing. Anyone see themselves logged in? I'm on there! http://web.archive.org/web/20060426190514/http://www.bassworld.co.uk/pn/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewforum&f=1
  6. Bit of a digression - sorry, Andy - but that strap looks interesting. What is it? GLWTS - lovely bass (with or without the strap)!
  7. So many great bassists have fake deaths here on Basschat. Yet again I thought we'd lost one. Oooh, I've got an idea.
  8. The best I have been able to do is to look up BassWorld on the WayBack Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20250000000000*/http://www.bassworld.co.uk/pn/index.php - it'd be possible to browse the snapshots to see who was logged on at the time. There's a good few names I recognise as on BassChat too. The snapshots don't go back to '98 though.
  9. Bloody beautiful. Let me Know if you’re interested in a NG3 6 string, cash your way
  10. Hi folks, more stuff from the spares draw. These are very lightweight tuners and the one that Low End Lobster has been fitting to his Sire basses as a drop in replacement. This is effectively a set for a 5 string bass with a 4 over 1 configuration. They are currently fairly scarce and the G string tuner seems to be particularly hard to find anywhere at the moment. Prices are: Set of 4 in-line - £105 inc. P&P to UK mainland "5th" G string tuner - £35 inc. P&P to UK mainland Set of 5 tuners - £130 inc. P&P to UK mainland Here are a couple of pics and the link to Lobster's YouTube vid on the subject.

  12. The Czech-Ease is a full sounding bass with an abbreviated body that makes it more portable than its full-bodied cousins without losing the true sound and feel of a double bass. The instrument is one of choice of Dave Holland, Esmeralda Spalding and Chris Wood.. These basses are now discontinued, but this particular bass is in perfect condition with no marks or scratches. It has only had one owner and limited home studio use, and has not been used for gigs. It comes fitted with a Gage Realist pickup and adjustable bridge. It also comes with a well-padded gig bag.
  13. Sorry to be pedantic, but did you mean 9 volt? GLWTS, by the way.
  14. Upgraded to a Payson Bridge Upgraded to a Graphtec Nut F# B E A D G Black, wood style top on Body + Matching headstock. Up for sale is my Dingwall NG3. A reluctant sale, but I’ve just taken delivery of a custom bass and I had the NG3 to fill the void in the interim. I’m its second owner, and have added the bridge, nut, and the neck illusion inlays. When I bought it, it did NOT come with the factory NG3 pickguard, therefor the sale doesn’t include it. Previous owner has filled in screw holes and done the Body+Headstock wood style cover. I’m not sure of the condition of the front face of the body, and it doesn’t look like any scratches around the wood covering, so likely knife-less tape was used. The back of the body and edges are in excellent condition, so hopefully a good indicator. Sale includes Dingwall Gigbag, Original Nut, Original bridge system, Dingwall tool kit, and its original strings (for BEADGC tuning). Pick up is in London, a 3 minute walk from Farringdon Train Station. I can organise a courier at the cost of the buyer. I have a box that the gigbag fits into for sending. However, for extra I do have a few hard cases I could use if preferred. Should you want any extra photos, or details, just let me know.
  15. May 16th 2007. Doesn’t time fly… How many basses have I bought and sold on here - maybe 25? Made a lot of friends too, and learned a great deal. If I manage another 18 years I’ll be pushing 88🤫
  16. Yes, it was. It's a great bass, I did a gig with it today and it did well (me a bit less so!).
  17. I'm just a young whippersnapper, joining a mere 13 years ago. I know nothing of this legendary Bassworld other than the stories passed down by the elders.
  18. The Who. A pair of tw*ts!
  19. I bought my Anagram a few days ago, it’ll be with me in the first week of July 😮. I’m certain it’ll be worth the wait though, we’re looking at going ampless in the next year, and this looks perfect for my needs.
  20. Careless whisper - George Michael
  21. Today
  22. Congratulations on the wedding! Good luck with quick sales for these amazing pedals too!
  23. I Heard A Rumour - Bananarama
  24. Zak out, Scott in to finish the final tour apparently. Pete says Zak has left to pursue other projects and Zak said he was fired. It's all refreshingly untrained and up close PR compared to the Foos and their faceless radio silence, I must admit.
  25. I’ve realised I had the filter set to 4 string on the soapbars, which offers BC and EMG, quite rightly the 5 and 6 strings etc offer a wider range of shells.
